I honestly really like this song. Some people might not be into it but it's pretty normal for bands to experiment with styles and different moods... I remember some very similar comments on FOB's Immortals when it first came out.

Different from what we have come to expect from the Studio Killers, as it doesn't feature the wonderful vocals of Cherry! However, it's still a great song and shows us just how talented musically diverse the Studio Killers are as a band. I can't wait for them to bring out their next album! ❤️
This song has been growing on me, it took a while to warm up to a song without vocals by cherry, and it's not the same vibe as their older works, but it's natural for bands to change their sound over time and this has grown to be a favorite of mine on par with grand finale and Jenny.

Personally I love this. Studio killers is whatver you guys make it. You don't need cherry just do what you enjoy making. Having studio killers loose their passion for their music would be sadder than them trying new things and still making absolute bangers.
And for those open to new perspectives. The song sounding more "generic" or mainstream I think makes the lyrics more impactful. Because it's about this person who feels sad that they don't fit in its almost like a parody of generic songs it's trying to be like them but is not. This song is unique and has soul in its message.

It's different and I do miss Cherry. But in the end I'm just happy that Studio Killers are back and bringing us more bangers.
It's not bad per se, but I have to agree with most of the other comments that it's missing what makes it Studio Killers. I get wanting to explore new concepts or sounds, but I think that coupled with having another artist sing it made this track not only unremarkable but also unrecognizable as a Studio Killers song.
Let's remember this is for a segment of the upcoming 404 Pilot. It's made for the video experience so let's not give it hard criticism until we see it in it's intended experience.

I think that eventually after the pilot is released, and things go well they would perhaps release an album that has the genuine studio killers we all know and love. However, for now they’re releasing songs for the pilot, they are incorporating different artists so people can know who they are which is brilliant. I can’t wait to see the future of studio killers

tbh very mixed on studio killers at the moment. i can tell they’re TRYING buuuuut i miss cherry tbh. their new sound is very poppy, a bit too much so- it’s catchy, sure, but very generic. i get cherry is still on the team, but we haven’t heard her in a WHILE. hope she comes back soon.
It’s for their TV pilot, a soundtrack song not an official single. They’ve been animating it for a while, and they said they’re releasing the pilot next month where-yes-Cherry will be the main character of.
@@NovaKnight_ i’m aware of that and very excited for 404. i’m not one of those people who thinks cherry is gone and will never come back, obviously that ain’t the case. but i’m judging this more from a song standpoint than from a soundtrack standpoint because (unlike schoolyard danceoff) this song was hyped as a single, has SINGING, and is one of their first proper songs since 2018. i know it’s unreasonable to expect much from just a background song but it’s not unreasonable to wanna hear cherry again after so long lol

They’ve obviously been working really hard so official Cherry stuff is delayed, and maybe it has to do with Covid as well and maybe the singer isn’t always available. You never know what’s happening behind the scenes.

I mean, I keep coming back to this song. That says a lot in itself.
I understand this is for the pilot, but maybe something needs to be done about the rollout strategy? As it is, fans go months/years without music, and then they see these snippets of very different music that maybe be background, intro music etc which is not to meant to be listened start to finish in the same way a song like Ode to Bouncer or All Men are Pigs are. People have to have prior information and context to understand that these videos aren’t necessarily new releases… maybe its best to release these full versions after the pilot is out, because I’m not sure it’s doing its job of hyping people up. Studio Killers fans are used to waiting for music, so I don’t think months of silence until you release the pilot will be an issue.
The comment section seems to be a lot of “I don’t like this song, it doesn’t sound like a Studio Killers song” “it music for a pilot, it’s not supposed to” but it’s being released as though its meant to be listen to in its entirety, just like other studio killers songs. If you’ve been waiting for music from them and see this pop up in your subscriptions box, of course people will think it’s a proper new song. If the pilot is released first, it’s easier for people to glean what these songs are and less jarring for any fans that don’t know or aren’t interested in the pilot. I think short adverts under a minute should do just fine for building hype, then no one confuses it for new full length music/releases and keep the hype up!!

Subscribing to you tube helps Goggle and in turn Alphabet not the various artists who upload their work to the internet for distribution. Also depending on the financial situations of some content creators they may have a finite limit to their UA-cam storage and May half to rotate their library. That doesn’t mean it won’t come back later; much like “Revisit Jenni”. Supporting the artists is always good if you enjoy their work. It’s not purchasing the content as it is allowing the creators to bring forth new work as tuning is power, not collected wealth. Sorry if I was unclear. As for stealing I have had work posted that within 24 hours was on sale to others in different regions that sell to other regions as an “Import”. Taking sales away from content creators and artists is never good for the raw art itself. Support, even if just add clicks, views or subs is always good for those who don’t have the means to financially support a band, artist or a movie etc.
In conclusion I agree with you. But knowing the aural semester that gets you moving in the clubs, bangin’ on the radio and remixes a plenty: only good will come from this “taste” of forthcoming work.

These teasers have been making me worried for the band. Hear me out here since a really kind commenter explained the situation in much better way (the entire idea of havibf a villianess sing this song) but honestly these teasers are making fans less hyped for the Pilot in my mind since this is the only news they are getting.
Tea Time I think generates more hype than these pieces of background music or storytelling music since we don't have the context in which they are played.
I'm still excited for the pilot but the music that has been put out recently has been very different from the orginal sounds that got people hooked (Ode to the Bouncer) and I think the critiques on the music industry are going over fans heads since they don't have the context with it that the Pilot will provide.

The song is good and the beat is great, I personally like it. I don't mind progression in musical style, like Bouncer -> Dirty Car -> Bedroom Eyes, and actually really enjoyed it. It's just that this style feels less like Studio Killers and more like a pop style of Flyleaf. We're all hungry for more Studio Killers style and we assumed the pilot would be more like an animated Studio Killers series than a separate thing, given the name. So, that's why people are feeling mixed here when there's no Cherry.
I'll still watch the pilot, like I'm sure most everyone here will. We just worry that the Studio Killers we fell in love with is being replaced with a whole new style, since it's all we've seen.

It seems like barely anyone is focusing on the lyrics the singer is basically saying how different she is compared to others but in a introvert perspective no character in life is designed like Cherry, as stylish as her, nor sings like her she is in a class of her own. Studio killers are evolving and are using their platform to help other artists shine like the creator of this song. Stop focusing so hard on the past and look forward they haven't changed they are adapting to fit this time. This song is amazing when you actually give it a chance. It feels like ever since Studio Killers got tik-tok famous for a little while they've been changing their whole style and music sound exclusively to hop on the next-big-trend, not because its genuine. The song certainly isn't bad, and bands changing their vibe (i.e Gorillaz, Mother Mother) is totally cool but this newer stuff doesn't feel genuine to me anymore

If they had the same sound and vocals in every song, you'd say they're boring and don't know about music. You need to accept differences... A sound (the same you ask for them to have) doesn't make them who they are. Their choices do and this song is a choice. Every song of them makes Studio Killers who they are. The plot 404 connects with the song which is intro and outro bc there's Pornica and Jeff (he only loves them as a fan of their music, he wasn't paying for it, after wanting it for free and saying it in their faces, he wasn't even saying their name correctly) who don't look good. We've only see the ones in their group being polite to each other and their fans, plus Jeff's hearts (his fan side). But not everyone is ur fan. If you listen closely to the lyrics and the sound you might like it... Don't reject it so quickly. If not, the ppl who is their fav song aren't obligated to read a bunch of the same complains which confirm the lyrics. It's not nice seeing them all together in the comments. No, Studio Killers isn't dead. This is a small part in a big narrative they're working on, and to assume the worst right off the bat is a very negative mindset to take on what's supposedly one of your favourite bands. I for one am excited for 404 and the rest it brings with it.
Yeah it always annoys me when people think a band is going downhill when they decide to release music that's slightly different from their original sound...artists can and should experiment however they like. I for one am interested in the new route Studio Killers are taking.

To everyone complaining, to me I get you, HOWEVER bands change with time. This includes their sounds. I expect no one band to sound exactly the same every single song. To me that becomes boring actually. No it doesn’t sound like studio killers. I LOVE that actually because it shows their versatility! I don’t just love what is typically studio killers’ sound, so I like it because now I can expect a more diverse set of sounds from them in the future :) I think ppl forget the band members don’t just listen to their own sounds and that’s it. I’m sure they all like many genres and want to try many different genres as well :)

A lil rewiew that takes itself too seriously: for my taste, it's not nearly as bad as people say it is. Sure, it's not a usual StudioKillers format, sure, the singer isn't Cherry. But I was waiting for something I haven't heard from them before and i got it. I'm not here to tell people who disliked it how to feel, it's normal to dislike songs, ffs, but between them working on a pilot for a series, burning out and just, you know, experimenting, I feel like this is better than it may seem because of the simple music or the beat. Besides, it's said to be from the pilot, which is animated, so i'm super curious what scene will this song be in. What moment will it accompany? Cuz that can change a lot, no matter how simple it seems. Also i actually liked the bass drops and the way "soft bitch sad kid" is said. It's just pleasant for my ears. It's an ok song, but if you play this on the radio and say it's studio killers I wouldn't believe you and just play something off my phone instead.

For the sake of being encouraging I wanted to share a beautiful realization I just had.
A lot of the reaction to the song fell on Ali singing vocal instead of Cherry and that's pretty much the sum of it. I think that solidifies that we're at the point now where Cherry has reached her own Cher status and that's a beautiful accomplishment for especially an indie artist.
Ali you did a wonderful job on vocals for Soft Bitch and don't be afraid to stand in the lime light here.
For the fans remember that they're growing far beyond just music and bringing world 404 to us to realize their dreams and share them with us! The world's a lot bigger than just Cherry so let's be encouraging and thankful that they're getting the support to even have new voices =)
