Wow, your coat looks amazing! Your bravery and perseverance really paid off, and how special to have a handmade coat made from your mum's fabric. That was really inspirational to watch!
I love that beautiful blue top!! You look so great in that! You do look super in a v-neck. Your coat - it's beautiful. It's so nice that you used fabric from your mom's stash. xo
Hi Karen Marie, finally in the UK (very cold!) and able to start playing catch up with vlogs. Love your coat. Such amazing work and I think you made such an awesome choice on the lining. Your mum would be smiling with pride.I have used one Burda easy pattern. No issue with having to add the seam allowance which I have heard numerous complaints about. Instructions were challenging but not incomprehensible. I haven’t yet tried a Burda style pattern but I do plan to when I have the courage! The Southbank sweater looks great. But I I know I don’t like things too short. Would you be able to,buy some ribbing from the shop, you purchased the fabric from? And those gloves are so beautiful!😍 a special gift for a special person. Can’t wait to see what you do next. See you next time.
@@JulieH1958 Thank you, Julie! ❤️❤️ Oh, yes, I bet it feels cold there coming directly from a warmer climate. I am thinking about maybe getting some more of that french terry for the Southbank and attaching the hem band (even though I had plans to leave it off, but I might just shorten it into a sweater instead. Don’t know yet.. 😊
I have sewn a lot of Burda patterns, and I agree with your opinion on everything you've said. It's just the way Burda works, love it or leave it 😉I am happy to see that you could save the make and wear it! Well done!
@@Joanna-sewingreloaded Thanks, Joanna! ❤️ Yes, I agree.. it is what it is. Would love to see them make an effort to update their instructions, though, as they have many patterns that look interesting. :)
@@madebykarenmarie :) I am also very intuitive in sewing Burda. I tried to read in German but it was overwhelming (my mother tongue is Polish). I usually look at different particular tutorials when I don´t know what to do. It works sometimes. And I have noticed that Burda released some of video tutorials, which is nice. But I haven´t used them so far.
I must try a Southbank dress - I've made two sweaters and they are so comfy. Love the coat - it's turned out really nice, despite your struggles. I have had my own coat troubles recently, but mine is now finished. The instructions for mine (Atelier Jupe Alex Coat) were also a little baffling - oh my, the vent!! This one is just a toile using very cheap fabric before using expensive fabric, but I am taking a break from coats for a while now! I am going to do a video review soon on my channel.
I learnt to sew with burda patterns the hard way. Nowadays they have improved a little bit on the instruction side. However the patterns are repeated quite often, they are rather dull even for someone of my advanced age and there are no finished mesurements to be found. I pretty much stopped using burda as there are so many indie patterns which I likemuch better.
Very true, Henriette. I used to buy the Burda Easy magazines because most of the patterns were basics that you could make variations of etc., but it didn't take long before patterns were repeated. The coat pattern that I used was one that I bought as a single pattern a few years ago - just because I liked the style lines so well, but I almost never sew these big 4/5 patterns. I, too, like the indie patterns much better :)
If it turns out too short, get some rib knit from Stofflykke and make a wide bottom band. I think it looks good ☺️
@@karinassyrom Thanks, Karina! ❤️Yes, that is definitely an option 😊
