Sad when we loose great friends and family but thier memory lives on and in special possessions we have their memories with us. . Awesome rifle. 👍👍🙏🙏🇺🇲🇺🇲
Thank you so much, it definitely meant a lot to me, he was in the hospital the same time as my wife with the same time, but he had had the jabs and the boosters and I feel like that’s probably what killed him, as I was already having an adverse effect on him before entering the hospital
I just acquired an identical Browning 1886. Sadly my brother passed away and I was given this rifle. I always idolized my brother and his accomplishments. I will remember him everytime I look and the rifle.
What a memorial, LG. Oh, if Browning would only get Miroku to make those and the '92s again... Your friend must have been quite a man and awful decent to have left that rifle for you. It's a blessing to have folks like that in one's life.
Beautiful rifle. Sorry to hear about your buddy. He sounds like he was a good man. Being in the special forces and going to Vietnam must have been a hell of an experience. I'm sure he had a lot of stories to tell you. I thank him and all of the others that went there for their service. The 1886 Winchester is a great design. John Browning was a genius. Thanks for the video. That is a great rifle.
It is a real treasure, it probably is closer to the original at least it doesn’t have a rebounding hammer and safety, but it is made of the really good quality steel, i’m glad to see you but making videos.
What a great memory of your friend to have. I have shot the .45-70 but do not have one. Thank you for a beautiful video. Take care. God bless you and your family.
Wow what a treasure from a good friend! Absolutely gorgeous rifle! And you know I love that buckskin shirt! What a wonderful tribute to your friend! Thanks for sharing brother!
Thank you for sharing your friends story from before him going home. Enjoy your new rifle. I love Browning firearms, but my interest is biased because my Dad loved his Browning's. Although he's gone home as well he served in Italy and Holland during WWII and taught me how to shoot by iron and scope.

That is beautiful!! Love the 1886 & 1892's. Happy you got it and sad for the loss of your friend. Definitely look forward to more videos with that bad boy.
Such a nice show, I subscribed to your channel because of the show,I have a Pedersoli Sharps in 45-70 and I love it, would like to have one like yours, please keep up the good work !!
Something always amusing about shooting a water filled milk jug with a big bore rifle or pistol. Although saw a UA-camr shoot a gallon jug of Elmer's glue that was spectacular. That 45-70 is spot on! May your friend rest in peace and his rifle remind you of all the good times in your friendship.
Congratulations and great way to keep his memory alive! When those first came out in 1986 I spotted one in our local gun shop I wanted it bad but it was over twice the money that I could afford and with a wife a two kids just starting school it was only a dream, I did however found an old beat up and shot out original 1886 a few months later and spent the next 32 years refurbing it with new 45-70 barrel, wood and mix of blueing and rust browned it all, I hunt with it and shoot it as much as I can, it will get handled down to my son and grandson.
I also have that same one, and purchased it in 1986 also. Beautiful rifle. Had to have it as soon as i saw it. Today it could go for as much as 1500 i believe, if not more. 2 different grades 10,000 made from what i remember.
I know the special attachment that you have for that rifle. My grandpa started taking me hunting with him when I was 6 years of age in 1955. And I'd better be still and quiet or I'd find myself back home with grandma next hunting trip. I inherited his old pre-64 Model 70 Featherweight 308 with a Lyman Alaskan 4X cross post scope. I can't help but feel a little of my grandpa's soul still exists in that rifle due to the many memories of the times we spent together hunting as I was growing up under his patient but firm instruction. I would not sell that rifle for anything as those memories of him are still so deeply planted in my heart and memory.
Awesome gun! Even more special that it was your buddy’s gun. Did you notice that your first shot went through the jug and hit the steel target behind it? Good shooting.
Great video. You getting that gun is the best thing that could have happened for You and Your friend. Sounds like Your friend is in the right place and His gun went to the right place.
Great rifle! 100 years from now hopefully people will be speaking about the history of this rifle that was owned by a SF fellow and an another fellow that was a gun educator. It’s the history of rifles like these that makes them so interesting! I have a Winchester (Modern) version of this and I love it!
It is really cool knowing the history of it, really enjoyed all the knowledge and friendship, as a major in the special forces he had a lot of experience in fighting, and I have talked to him before making a video to find out how lethal different calibers are in a real battle situation
I'm sorry about your friend, great story I'm sure he's smiling as you tell the story about it.....great rifle I didnt know Browning made the 1886....definitely one lever I'm looking to add....cool frontier digs too!
That's pretty much the same logic as the 1886 Lebel Rifle, it had the option to cut off the magazine. I like the fact that it has a mag capacity but yet maintains that Chassepot look. Really beautiful gun.
Kool story great gun and what a great friend can’t wait to meet him in heaven when the time comes take good of that rifle and keep shooting and Godspeed brother 🙏🙏👍
I enjoy your videos and respect your opinions due to the amount of time you spend with lever guns of all modals. If I have missed your coverage of this I do apologize. What is your thoughts, ideas, experience, etc. in the different brands of the 1886? Winchester vs Browning vs Pedersoli vs Uberti. I know this question usually brings on arguments but your experience with and use of the 1886 would be good insight on the subject.
Browning and Winchester reproductions are basically the same thing, The newer Winchesters have a tang safety and a rebounding hammer both are made in Japan, The original Winchesters is a different story, The Italian made 1886 more closely resembles the original, I have no real experience with their 1886, but as far as experience with other Italian made guns they usually look good but sometimes they have mechanical problems, My brother bought a 1876 probably 10 years ago for about $1600 The tubular magazine won’t stay in place the barrel rifling is different depths on different sides of the barrel making bullets out of round, some of the internal parts had to be reworked to get the gun to function properly, not saying that’s everyone’s experience but I’m going off of my experience and it was a Cymarron which is supposed to be more highly finished and refined than the standard a Italian made firearm, I think they’re decent guns but you might have to do a little work to it, The problem is is they usually cost more than the Japanese made guns which are usually far superior in my opinion, I have never needed to work on one to get it to function properly, however I do need to get a Italian made 1886 so I can make proper comparisons, because they may be trying to keep their quality control up on them better than other firearms that they produce, most firearms produced in Italy are made by one manufacture but renamed when they’re imported. I feel you should take this with a grain of salt like I said I haven’t actually tested any Italian made 1886s, But I have talked with other people that have re-barreled them to 50-110 and they load them hotter than I do, so technically they should be OK
Sorry You lost Your Friend Brother, That is a Beautiful Rifle, I've been Looking for one of those and a 94 Winchester in .375, Maybe one day, Take Care
I'm glad you're willing to tell everyone about Jesus and apparently your friend was also. ❤❤ Wish I hadn't seen this as I kinda made up my mind to get a Henry 44mag but now I'll have to do some more checking on the 45 70 . Maybe just get both. 😊
I just finished Nathan Gorensterin's excellent book "The Guns of John Moses Browning"...read it if you get the chance...the only drawings he made of his firearms were for his patent applications - when he started to design a firearm the design was in his head...he'd make facsimiles of the parts on paper and cut therm out to see how they worked before making it from steel...he started from the breech and worked he way forward ...he'd stand by his half brother, Ed, as he was making the prototype and tell him how to cut/shape the part with (at first) only hand tools...
What a Special Rifle That You Can Always Have As a Fond Memory Of a Very Special Friend He Kept That Rifle In Pristine Condition 😊😇😇😀 Thanks For Sharing About Your Best Friend And I Know He Is Smiling In Heaven Looking Down Seeing All Of Us Seeing You Shoot His Rifle 😇
@@justinweaver8787 he was one of the best friends that man could ever have, every time I got a new gun in an odd caliber he always had me down to shoot it at his place, because he always had ammo for anything, I have spent a lot of happy times in his reloading room talking about guns and ammo and wars and everything
So for me the long time goal is the model 71 in .348 Winchester, and I want to replace a mistake I made by selling a marlin. 444 I had. I have seen that Winchester has now produced some. 444 marlin. On another subject I have 2 bullet Molds with 8 different test bullets for the .31 cap n ball Remington, and as of now own a 1849 colt as well to test them in. 5 out of the 8 work as they should loading on the gun. 3 of the on the Remington, 5 on the colt. Weight range 63, 67, 72, 77, and 90 grain. All 8 are able to be loaded off the gun using my tower. The 3 that only load off the frame are 70,75, and 80 grained that looks like a baby kaido. Was not my intention, however that's how the result the 80gr came out. I also am now in the posession of a test mold for the .36 cal. Test weights of 126, 2 @ 130, and 150 gr. On order is 2 molds for the .44 cal. 1 for colt/Remington, the other for ruger/walker. Remington weights 170, 195, 220, and 225 gr. Ruger/walker weights @ 240, 250, 260, and 270gr. The big question is would be interested in taking a look at any of these as they are available?
Hickok45 has shot just about every gun there is on the planet he has access to absolutely everything. He purchased one of those also in 1986 and you watch his videos that he posted on that rifle and it's one of his absolute favorite guns in his whole collection.
JMB's first upgrade of the Winchester lever action with a locking block design that allowed the rifle to withstand the pressures (black powder) that would have destroyed the older toggle link design.
... Browning made iterations of the Winchester 1886 and 1892 that were true to the original JMB specs ... the current so-called Winchester versions have added lawyer parts like tang safeties and rebounding hammers which I have no use for ... the Browning made versions with no lawyer parts are scarce
Sorry to hear of losing your friend. On the lighter side, I think you are about the only person I know of who uses the term "little bitty" in reference to the 45-70! 😂
Sorry for the loss kuya. Think about this. In heaven, we will have everything we want. So, can you imagine the collection your friend has? Thank you for sharing the story behind that weapon. Edit: Thank you for showing me the magazine trick. I was thinking about what a perfect weapon my 1886 would be if it had a magazine cutoff.
Do you prefer a straight stock for this gun or would you rather have it a pistol grip stock? I'm waiting on my 1886 custom built in 45-70 and im having hard time choosing between the stocks.
I find that if your gun has a lot of recoil a pistol grip tends to not hurt your knuckles as bad while the straight stock allows them to slides straight into the lever just behind the trigger, which can be quite painful, I would say anytime producing 50 foot pounds of recoil or more
@@Leverguns50 Awesome, that makes sense about recoil. I know you get lots of comments to answer, but I would appreciate just one more question! How do you feel about pistol grip vs straight stock when it comes to stock angle and comfort/proper cheek weld, etc? This rifle I'm about to buy is once-in-a-lifetime type purchase so Im trying to get as much data/opinoions as possible so I dont make a choice I regret. I only own 1 pistol grip rifle so I dont have many reference points.
@@guavavodka in my opinion the perfect stock is the one that they put on the 71 Winchester they designed it to create less felt recoil they put a pistol grip on it for more natural hand angle, they raised it up so it didn’t have so much drop at the comb and there’s just not much you can improve on that particular butt stock and it looks good too The Winchester that I custom built I use that style of but stock and it’s a smooth shooter, in fact my opinion is the 71 is probably the fastest gun on target because of it’s almost perfect ergonomics. So if I was building the ultimate lever action I would probably go with the 71 but stock forearm but I’d probably go with a full length magazine an octagon barrel
@@Leverguns50 thank you! literally perfect answer. it aligns exactly with what was on my mind. i love the look of the straight stock more but after shooting this pistol grip 1892 it’s just so more more natural feeling and i’m not craning my neck way down where it’s a tad uncomfortable. if i’m going to have this ultimate gun i don’t want to hesitate to reach for it because of that. thanks so much for your awesome channel

Sorry to hear of losing your friend. On the lighter side, I think you are about the only person I know of who uses the term "little bitty" in reference to the 45-70! 😂
Good vid brother
Glad you enjoyed
Sorry for the loss kuya. Think about this. In heaven, we will have everything we want. So, can you imagine the collection your friend has? Thank you for sharing the story behind that weapon.
Edit:
Thank you for showing me the magazine trick. I was thinking about what a perfect weapon my 1886 would be if it had a magazine cutoff.
You are welcome
That's a beaut..
Thank you
My Stepfather had an original 1886 in .45-70 but I don't know where it went at his passing...
Congratulations
Thank you
