    I having this problem aswell. I've been on Prednisone Acetate drops since 2019. I was just putting one drop of Prednisone once a week in my eyes for around a year now and it has been working. My doctor told me a week ago to stop the drops but the following week. I start to get eye sensitivity and pain in my left eye so, I put one drop in my eye and it took about an hour for the pain to go away. My right eye seem like it's adapting without the drops. I praying my right eye continues on its healing process and hopefully my left eye will start to heal. I have another Ophthalmologist appointment in April. Plus I have another appointment to see the Rheumatologist. I do have artists in my neck😣 I was going to physical therapy but, now I do my neck routines at home.
    First I've been having problems with sciatica in my mid 30s. Now I'm in my 40s having this Rheumatoid arthritis and this eye inflammatory problems. I feel the older I get the more problems I will have with my body. I thinking about taking up Yoga 🧘🏽‍♀️. I believe that would help me with my sciatica and arthritis.

    My iritis symptom was just a general cloudiness of vision. It looked like the room was filled with a light fog, especially around bright light sources. Prednisolone drops four times a day fixed it in a few days.

    The past 2 days I have had a very sharp pain in my right eye whenever I look at anything bright. The eye socket is also very tender to touch. At first I thought it was a migraine. Having to wear sunglasses all the time and use optrex to help soothe the eye. Sometimes feels like something in the corner by the nose but can't see anything.

    Hey Doc, I hope you could answer some of my questions.
    So basically one day I woke up and my left eye was a little bit red and I thought it was nothing so I just ignored it, few days later the redness became too much and I started to be very sensitive to light and thus my eye started to ache when it was exposed to light. I went to my local GB and the doctor simply looked at my eye for a second with a flash light and gave me (chloramphenicol eye drops bp 0.5). After using it for few days, the redness seemed to have almost completely gone but the problem started on my other eye. The first eye that got infected seemed to have lost the "light" problem and the pain went away but it's vision became a bit blurry. My question is: What do you think the problem might be and how do I solve it?

    I have a question, I will b glad if I can have a second opinion based on my symptoms from a professional who does not know me physically. Sorry for writing all of that, but I just need an answer. And thank you for making videos.
    My right eye closes on its own all the time, I can't keep it open for more than one minute even if I do, I will not be able to use the left eye at the same time. It's either right or left and right always wins. It first started a few months after a visit to a chiropractor who told me that he could fix my vision so that I won't be struggling to read without glasses, he then started by manipulating my nerves and cracking my neck which then led to a complete loss of sensation right after the treatments as my whole body was paralysed, then breathing issue follow as if I had something in the middle of my chest, I also had trouble speaking even until now. I can't no longer scream or sing like I used to. The pain in the right eye is unbearable, it goes through my brain not to the mention the migraine I get from it. My neck bones are also swollen and painful, which was due to the chiropractic treatment. They is constantly a sound coming from my spine neck bones every time I stretch my upper back or neck, it is very like a popping sound. I never suffered from anything like that in my entire life until now. The same pain goes to my neck, shoulders, spine and arms.
    Extreme itchiness and redness were the first signs my eyes showed, then I noticed that my right eye was constantly closing without me realizing it as if I was having a stroke, I started to look pale, sleepy and tired also even when I was fully rested, then the double and blurry vision came along. I went to see many ophthalmologists including specialists, one diagnosed me with strabismus soon referred me to a series of specialists who later diagnosed me with Myasthenia Gravis due to the symptoms I was showing and IMG exam results.
    I don't believe this problem is due to the Myasthenia even though the plasma exchange procedures helped me keep both of my eyes wide open for the two weeks I spent at the hospital, but they were still wandering. I have been hospitalized two times already within three and half months because I was too weak. Besides the eye problem, I can't feel my arms and legs most of the time or they feel extremely heavy as if I had heavy objects attached to them, sometimes my body feels too heavy that I can't even control it, I can't even brush my hair, my teeth, wear my bra or do the house chores. Lifting a baby is even more challenging. I have been using a walker at 26 years every time I walk long distances including in school. It's getting hard to use both eyes at the same time. especially while driving, changing lane, staring at computers and Tvs, or just reading anything. Following the directions of where I am going is very hard and dangerous not just for me, but for the other drivers.
    But what I noticed is that, everytime I look to the sun whenever my eye closes, then when I reopen it, I feel a difference unfortunately it only last a few seconds and closed again. I wish I could stare at the sun more often. I also use an eye patch which is hard to stand since my right eye is not used to work that hard. Also, I can't tell whether I looking straight at someone or something anymore except when I am using a mirror.
    People make fun of my eyes and I have lost a boyfriend due to that. I run away for taking pictures because of the way they look meaning wandering, pale and red. I also look about 10 years older than I am which is weird not to mention the acnes I am suffering from due to the use of steroids which I don't find effective. My eyelids are also droopy.
    I am currently on IVIG infusions which I also don't find effective. This situation is tiring, I can't control. It's been years since it all started and over a year since I was diagnosed with MG. I am sick of this situation.
    Could my condition be related to something you know or perhaps to the condition you're talking about in the video?
    Please let me know if you have an idea or a suggestion in something we should be looking into.

      yes within 3 days my eyes back to normal, and i am writing down the drops name , you can use 1 drop after 3 hours, and use tissue for clean, and if you're cleaning your infected eyes, don't use that tissue on your other eyes, this is very important, don't touch your hand to your infected eyes, just wipe it with tissues.
      medicine are :
      FML Forte (Fluorometholon) 0.25%
      Moxigan (Moxifloxacin) 0.5%
      use 1 drop after 3 hours, and use other drop after 10 minutes,

    Hi Dr. Porter, for the last 3 weeks we thought our daughter had pink eye and when we were finally refered to an eye Dr. we found out she has iritis. They said her pediatrician may contact us if he feels it's necessary for her to be tested for a number of diseases. We have a follow up with her eye Dr. next week. Is the tests something I should push for if I don't hear from her pediatrician? I'm a nervous wreck especially after hearing from a retired eye Dr at my work that children almost always have a disease if they have iritis. Thank you

      +Mallory Stone Blood tests and further workup can be helpful at times to try to determine the cause of an episode of iritis. Other times, the tests come back negative and we don't now exactly why the iritis occurred. I would ask her eye doctor and pediatrician the value of the tests to help you guys decide what would be best next. I hope she improves!

    My 20yr old daughter have suffered from light sensitivity most of her life, and wear a very strong eye glass prescription. I have had many test done to figure out why she would have such poor vision, considering the way we eat. What I have discovered on my own is the fact that she does not digest her food well, which is the cause of all of her digestion problems. Three gastro doctors later with no help other than to take Miralax the rest of her life for her chronic constipation, I'm on my way to figuring some of her health problems out. She have to take a digestive enzyme, along with HCL to help with her digestion. She have now gone from looking pregnant and bloated to looking and feeling so much better after she eats. I also realize that because she was always tired that her B vitamins were low. ( probably because of the poor digestion) She now take a B complex(garden of life) along with a couple of individual B vitamins such as B5 which helps with constipation, and vitamin B2 which helps with light sensitivity. We have only been doing this a couple of month, but the results are very good so far. She still need help with the constipation which she was born with, but it is getting better. She almost never gets car sick which used to be a big issue., Although her eyes are still sensitive to light it's getting better. We're hopping for a total cure. I never received any of this information from the countless doctors we have visited seeking answers, so thank god for DR. Internet. .

    I have reiters syndrome and I've been diagnosed with this Iritis. ive been taking drops for a couple weeks now and I've had the Iritis for about 3. from what I've been told their is water trapped in my lens which causes the bluriness but is this accurate? I'm scared I might go blind because I'm not seeing any improvement in my vision. how long does it normally take for my vision to return if I'm on the drops?

    • @IsaacPorterMD
      @IsaacPorterMD  7 років тому

      Most of the time, once iritis is controlled, it does not affect vision, but iritis can contribute to cataracts or other eye problems that can continue to affect vision even if the iritis is controlled. If there are changes in the lens of the eye it could be cataract formation that continues to affect vision. Hope you're doing better.

    I've been diagnosed with iritis on my left eye. First I thought I had scratched my cornea given that I'm notorious for this given I also have keratoconus. I've seen two doctors and one couldn't really explain how I got iritis. The second stated that due to the vessels on my cornea it seems that lack of oxygen (due to the scleral contacts) is possibly causing the irritation to the iris to occur...therefore my question is, if I can't use the contact (that maintains my cornea from deforming) what else can be done to avoid keratoconus from getting worse and the health of the iris not be compromised? I'm healthy and don't have RA or any of the other known diseases that can trigger iritis...

    • @IsaacPorterMD
      @IsaacPorterMD  8 років тому

      Currently, corneal collagen crosslinking appears to the be most effective treatment to prevent the worsening of keratoconus. We have been waiting for FDA approval of the procedure for years, but it is still available here in limited situations. Hopefully you will find a solution to keep the iritis away and still see clearly with keratoconus. Thanks for the question!

    i don't know, i was diagnosed with a "corneal erosion" and after 2 weeks almost of daily Corneregel and Nettacin, it just got worse, slightly yellowy hint in vision and blurriness. Mind you when i first saw the doc, my vision was perfectly clear and never wore glasses. Now the left eye also seems to start having problems with bright daylight. Also worth mentioning, my top eyelid i noticed was a bit lower for months now, then suddenly from staying a lot in front of the monitor, the right eye got all red, and lacrimated non stop and closed itself, then i went to the doc. Now i can open it but it won't stay up for long... i'm scared.

    Can iritis be caused hereditarily? I've had iritis since i was about 7 (14 now) and I've had to deal with it for a majority of my life, my mother has rheumatoid arthritis which is linked to iritis, and I was wondering if you knew if iritis can be caused hereditarily because of my mum's autoimmune disease. And even though I've had a rough time iritis in the past I'm happy that currently it's relatively dormant, and I'm proud to say that I was awarded for being the smartest student in my grade so at least my education for the ,most part was unaffected

    I have been having issues with eye inflammation that started about two years ago. It has every 6 months or so, and it seems to be triggered by dust or wind irritation. The initial diagnosis was I have a pinguecula, and it could be surfers eye. I also did a number of lab tests. Last month I saw a new eye doctor and she diagnosed iritis. As opposed to treating it with Pred Forte, she recommended Durezol.
    At this point, I'm wearing windproof sunglasses, safety glasses or goggles when its windy out. Is wind a common trigger for others?

    *Iritis - eye redness and pain*
    Inflammation inside the eye (iritis) can cause light sensitivitiy, redness, and aching of the eye. At times, this can occur spontaneously, or it can be associated with inflammatory diseases.
    Fortunately, it can usually be treated with steroids and dilation of the pupil. If you have any questions, please post below.

My daughter is 8 years old last year in January she had a squint in her eye I thought it was nothing until after 3 months that I took her to the doctors the sent me to a eye hospital straight away when I took her they said that se has lost 40 percent of her eyesight. I was in pieces when they told me that an been so very upset can't belive this was happening to my baby girl. we have been going to the hospital every week to keep a check on what's going on with her eye. the doctors then after a year an a half did a operation as the eye had cateracs. they removed the cateracs but didn't put a lense in as she has to much inflammation in her eye. now after 5 months they have given us some lenses to put in every day for 8 hours. she also has 6 eye drops every day an also to treat the inflammation she is also on methotrexate 17.5 grams per week which is a injection . I'm so worried now her eye is lazy aswell please can you tell me or advise me if you have come through any of this situation or of u can tell me what happends next please thank you

    I believe I have Iritis. I knew it wasn't pink eye because there's no "morning crusty eye". This is the 3rd or 4th time I get it. I noticed that I started getting them after I started with CDE *chronic dry eye)... the thing I noticed that will trigger it is when the eye gets very irritated. The first time (happened twice) I accidentally rubbed my eye after cutting jalapenos. It was stinging and the very next day, I woke up with the iritis. This last time was right after I was doing some heavy dusting. Dust must of gotten in my eye and the next day, again woke up with the iritis. My conclusion is... people with CDE get it more often and triggers are harsh irritants. My eye is completely red, itchy, painful like an ache and sensitive to light. It will last about 3-4 days. I have to take some Tylenol to help with the pain because it WILL cause a bad headache.

I am taking Pred forte almost 8 times a day but not able to see any improvements. My blurry vision has increased a lot with in a week and now My ophthalmologist suggested to take oral steroid tablets of Prednisolone 60 mg once daily in addition to eye drops. Even though the eye pain, secretion of tears and redness has decreased a lot but the blurry vision is increasing day by day. Im currently beeing treated for Iritis, It started 4 weeks ago in my right eye and I have been treated with cortisone and pupil dialation several times a day since. Yesterday I had an follow up appointment at the hospital and the Doctor saw in the microscope that I have developed Iritis in my left eye aswell. Now Im treating both my eyes. I have done some research online and in my medical books (Im a Nursing Student) and discovered it's not very common to get it in both eyes right? It's not contagious so Im wondering how come I got it im both eye's?
    Thanks again for the video!

    • @IsaacPorterMD
      @IsaacPorterMD  9 років тому

      Annie Olsson Glad you liked the video and found it informative! Iritis could be present in one eye or both. You're right that it is not usually caused by an infectious source, but we can see it in both eyes at the same time or in alternate eyes over time. Sometimes we are able to find a systemic cause of iritis that could make it appear in both eyes, or other times we don't know the cause but it still appears in both eyes.
      I hope it improves for you!

      Annie Olsson Have you had any lab work done? Test positive for HLA-B27? Bilateral and ping ponging Uveitis most often occurs from a HLA-B27 malfunction. I had iritis in both my eyes for a year and a half straight. Pred Forte could not knock it out at all, I went through what felt like 15 bottles and tried every taper method in the book. I had to end up seeing the only Occular Immunologist in British Colombia and I got started on a 2 year Methotrexate regiment. The Methotrexate effectively restarted my immune system and I have been Iritis free for 2 whole years, with 0 cell count in both eyes and 20/20 vision.

I've been diagnosed with iritis today. its my second episode in the last 1.5yrs. both times when it flared up, it correlates with long hours on the computer use. eventhough the doctor says its autoimmune the correlation is there. perhaps an underlying cause is stress or eye strain.
