My daughter whom is 8 was recently diagnosed with this after 4 months of eating issues. We found out shes allergic to gluten and dairy. Taking those out of her diet has given us our happy little girl back and she's eating like a champ again!!
Thank you for your post. My 9 year old daughter was just diagnosed with this today. We are at the beginning of the journey. Bless you and thank you for spreading awareness.
Hello! My name is Courtney and I am 17, I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis almost a year ago. I totally understand where you're coming from, it is a hard thing to deal with. It's so good to know that I'm not alone, thank you for posting about it!
I have eoe and I am trying to discern what I can and can't have. Unfortunately, allergy testing has proved confusing for me as my blood work (allergy tests) contradicted my skin prick test. That said, I have taken it upon myself to try the 6 food elimination diet. I've been on this diet for 2 weeks & it does feel like I am having some improvements. Please post more videos about your eoe experience, it helps me to hear from others who live with this condition. Cheers!
My son was diagnosed with EOE just yesterday and I am just starting to do research in it. He is only 10 months old. I am very happy that I found your videos. Keep it up! Looking forward to watching many more.
I was diagnosed with EoE almost two years ago but I am one of the weird ones with no known food allergies. I have reacted to pretty much everything, for example rice, chicken, apples, chrisps and pasta. all allergy tests have come up negative and even though I get a reaction sometimes I can go weeks with no problems even eating things like chicken and rice. the advice I was given was basically just chew all food proberly, dont eat on the move and avoid risky foods in public. is there anyone else is my situation?
Coach Colm I get kind of like a tightness in my chest which is the lower third of my esophagus swelling and narrowing then the food I have swallowed is basically stuck and I need to cough it up. and it's defenetly eosinophilc esophagus I have had biopsies at least 7 times
I have been diagnosed with EoE two weeks ago. It seems to have been brought on by undergoing Allergy Immunotherapy. I received my first allergy shot (allergic to dust mites, cats and dogs) and within two days, I was having difficulty swallowing. I don't have food allergies that I know of yet, just those environmental allergies.
+Emma Smith there are probably things you haven't been test for. Like dust for example is my main allergen. I can't really feel it instantly like eating something and getting sick but if I sleep in a dusty room then everything is out of whack.
I just came back from the emergency room and they did an endoscopy to get a tiny piece of stuck lamb chop out of my esophagus. I'm terrified to eat now. I've only been eating liquid soup. I spent 8 hours gagging and unable to swallow even saliva, coughing the whole time trying to gag it out. By the time they did the procedure on me I was so weak I almost died on the operating table. My breathing kept stopping.
I had a piece of bread stuck in my esophagus for hours - went to the gastro and he said it's probably EoE (haven't had my endoscopy yet). This test seems like the kind of thing I need - something to give me answers without trial-and-error.
I was diagnosed when I was 3 and right now I'm 100% complient from the top 6 allergens I was just at the doctor on Friday and I was so sick after it like I usually am I feel bad for anyone who has it bc it is not fun at all trust me you have breathing problems, stomach aches all the time, problems swallowing, and are only limited certain kinds of food consider yourself lucky if you don't have it
Thank you for sharing this video!! I've had swallowing difficulties for years(food can get stuck for hours sometimes, dry food in particular). Today I saw an allergist and from the skin test it looks like I was allergic to everything, awaiting blood tests this Friday. I saw gastro last week and awaiting endoscopy next month. They both think I have EoE. Bodybodying with EoE was sort of my next question, gonna go watch that now!
Hi! Wow, I had this same shit for years but had no idea. I just experimented and noticed I improved by cutting out grains and dairy, it is interesting that you don't have negative symptoms to oatmeal or other grains. Thanks for teh videos, I watched and liked all of them.
I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis and had the dilation done in the ER. Tried the elimination diet myself by cutting milk and got better. I went vegan and have been great ever since. I did not take the Prilosec as anti-acids prevent absorption of calcium.
Had a piece of salmon stuck in my esophagus recently. After an hour of trying to vomit it out, my girlfriend gave me some olive oil…And it came right out! Definitely not a cure for EOE but it lubricated my esophagus. Been struggling with EOE for 8 years, eating is always scary!
I find your videos interesting and helpful. my young son was diagnosed wirh EoE 2 years ago. We have had allergy testing , he continues on a restricted diet but the only thing that gave him a clean scope was swallowed Pulmicort for 4 months. my son is only 13 ... not too articulate about his symptoms ... it's interesting that you can feel your esophagus immediately reacting to particular foods!
I just got diagnosed with this condition. I now can't eat bread, potatoe, anything starchy, eggs, milk, and more. I don't understand how we all of a sudden can have this disorder. My digestion has suffered a lot the past 9 yrs.
I feel your pain, my guess is that this has been around for a lot longer than we think, it's just being studied now. Life will be better when you get on top of those foods 👍
@@CoachColmyou ever consider GMOs or other environmental factors? There is no way this has been around forever. Ive talked to so many people who just started having these issues the past 5 years.
Sensation of a lump in the throat with a bit of tightness very gradually coming on after eating a certain food, goes away sometimes depending on what you do, comes back off and on throughout the day? Sometimes gives the feeling of needing to yawn/ gag a little bit? (No trouble breathing at all) Sometimes waking up not intensely swallowing “mucus” that isn’t actually there but from the lump
Hi Colm, Thank you for posting these videos. My 18 year old son, who is a long distance runner, was diagnosed with EoE just recently but has been suffering from this over the last 7+ years. What a relief to finally know what it is! Like you, he is allergic/intolerant to many foods - all poultry, fish, and according to the blood tests lots of other common foods. He's been struggling to gain weight and eat more, but as you know it's nearly impossible when your throat is closing up. I will show him your website today and I know he will be relieved to learn from your experience how to live and rebuild his body despite this medical condition. I am curious to know if you are treating your throat with any medication? Our doctor in France has prescribed mixing a Budesinide suspension with honey and swallowing it twice daily to get the swelling down. Thanks again. Good luck!!! Stephanie
Hi Stephanie. thank you for your comment. I'm glad your son has an answer to his symptoms. when I found out it completely changed my life. I'm sure he will see significant improvements when he figures out what foods to avoid. I'm not on any medication. I was prescribed something to help with acid reflux. but I don't get reflux anymore so I don't take it. I completely avoid any foods that cause symptoms and I'm perfect. I hope you're son figures out his trigger foods. I wish him all the best going forward. I would love to know how he gets on! Speak soon Colm

Hi Colm, yes, I got it. Thanks again. It's been busy here as my son just left home in Texas for Edinburgh, Scotland for university... quite a scramble with this new diagnosis. Needed to see new doctors, start corticoid steroid meds on his throat, get lots of allergy tests. It's bad timing with his leaving so far away and on his own with this. Your post was reassuring to us that you can still thrive and get fit in spite of the dysphagia and auto-immune disease. He's been losing weight these past 2 years with this. Now working to get him feeling better and eliminate the main cause. We're starting with milk. We didn't think he was allergic (though his brother and sister are) but the allergist felt it was worth eliminating. We will be following your posts with interest, wishing you continued great health and success!
Got diagnosed with EoE a few weeks ago (I’m 23). I’ve had issues since I was 8 but it wasn’t up until recently that I begun puking blood. I do have my share amount of allergies, but that wouldn’t explain why absolutely everything can get stuck. Peanuts will apparently kill me, so I haven’t tried eating that. Then there’s soy protein, but I only really feel that if I eat a high enough dosage. Perhaps I should get a new proper allergy test. My last one was when I was around 7, so it’s very likely it may have changed since then.
My Ige tests, showed no allergies to anything but 2 very low allergy (dust mites, mold). Wondered why a Ige test wasnt done with it to see if enough Ige. Another Dr did Igg food allergy test and wondered why had so few allergies. I react to quite a few foods , so was amazed didnt show on labs. Celiac showed neg and enough IgA, but another lav (saliva, showed low SigA). Do much better without wheat or processed foods. (Learned by age 5, cakes were yucky (frosting nauseating and bread part made shaky).
I know the uncertainty is hard to deal with. The food elimination diet (eliminate a food, for ~2 weeks, then monitor symptoms when you reintroduce it) is recommended a lot. It's something I've used a lot over the last few years and it helps find triggers.
Do you have to take a PPI such as omeprazole along with avoiding these certain foods or do you just do well on your clean diet? Thanks for spreading awareness!
