Soldier of Three Armies Pt. 1 - Winter War - Sabaton History 064 [Official]

- Опубліковано 24 кві 2020
- Started out as a reserve, soon promoted well deserved, and the legend has begun.
Lauri Allan Törni, the soldier of three armies. Born and raised in Viipuri in Finnish Karelia, Lauri Törni grew up into a world of tensions, of class-consciousness and conflicting ideologies. Boxed in between the Soviet Union and Germany, Finland was preparing for war of survival. The Winter War would be the first place for Lauri Törni to see battle and begin his legacy as a born soldier.

Thank you so much for your dedication! It's heartwarming and strengthens hope and determination to keep going ourselves! I learned a lot once again and can't wait to hear more about this un-ordinary man ^^ Content quality is always over the top! ;)

Have a sweet week and until the next one! o/
I just noticed this, but the flag your jacket is backwards. The stars always go to the fore. These colors don't run.
Stay healthy, would rather deal with bad video quality then any of you all getting sick. Though the video quality was pretty good. Keep up the good work. Thoughts and warms wish from my family to everyone else in lockdown.
Thank you! Stay safe!
Never in History a man hated a color as much as Törni.
Better dead than red. That's why
I'd say Hannibal hated red about as much
@@danielblom391 only few roman legions wore red though, despite what hollywood tell you
So, does he still see red when he gets angry or is he more of a green guy?
@@terrorcop101 He now worns the crown of the Night Senti...ups, sorry. Wrong angry man.
When the trees start speaking Vietnamese so an American starts singing Erika in Finnish
while the trees speak Vietnamese, there is a combined Fortunate Son, Erika and Ievan Polka blasting in a bush
Well he was not American. It makes more sense so:
A Finnish starts singing Erika in English(US).
It would be 'Kaarina' (the name of the same song in Finnish)
Even Vietnamese were scared to Torni. He is the chad of anti-communist
@@yousefseed1874 yeah he's an anti-communist badass
Sees title: excited.
Sees 'Pt 1': More excited.
He says it’s a trilogy: E X C I T E
I'm expecting 3 parts, one for each army.
@@gabrielajej Nah, the second part is going to be about the Continuation War and about his Waffen SS career.
*"BETTER DEAD THAN RED"* -Lauri Törni, probably
Well the dude really fucking hated communists since he switched to whoever was fighting the communists at the time
Most likely
I like to think he allow himself to die so he could keep on killing commies in Hell.
@@Death_Korps_Officer honestly wouldn't doubt it, he's basically doom guy but with communists instead of demons

Törni: "Yes."
I just have to appreciate the effort you guys put in this channel! There's a worldwide pandemic going on and you still provide great content for your fans using the means available, so please don't worry about the quality of audio/video. And I love it that Soldier of 3 Armies is going to be a trilogy! It's always special to hear about my own home country Finland. It was also nice to see Joakim again 😊 Stay healthy guys!
Thank you very much! It is a difficult time for all of us. Stay safe!
The 5 types of personal relations to communism:
- Love it
- Like it
- Dislike it
- Hate it
- Lauri Törni
Dude served in 3 Armies, just to kill as many Reds as possible.
There are 6 levels of hatred
Dislike
Hatred
Hundred Years War
Roman-Carthaginian blood feud
Dwarf stuck on a boat with an elf holding a dragon egg
Törni
"You merely adopted anti-communism. I was born in it. Molded by it." Lauri Törni, probably.
I think Larry Alan Törni doesn’t like communism. Am I the only one who getting that vibe?
The perfect American
Even Liberty Prime would go "Damn eve I don't hate communism that much."
@@tyler1107 He fought more than three wars. People forget that he fought against Finland during the Lapland war and the Winter- and Continuation wars are two different wars.
@@lavrentivs9891 Törni switched sides during lapland war but never fought against finnish. He shipped to germany during this time
@@TheSeerka He had already fought for the Waffen-SS for two-three years at the time the Lapland War started. But he prefered to stick with the nazis while they burned and pillaged their way through northern Finland.
My grandfather Sulo Kuirinlahti was part of Detachment Törni from the first moment and was one of 3 surviving from the original company (i think the history says 2 but grandfather told me they were 3). I asked him if it was true that Mauno Koivisto (Became President of Finland in the 80s) was also part of Detachment Törni, he replied that "yes but e was only there for 9 months". Im very proud of what these men and my grandfather did for Finland.
Wasn't the pres also in white death's camp?
There's a really good book called "Surprise, Kill, Vanish" all about US covert operations and it talks extensively about Larry Thorne. What a legend. Seriously. He's like a Finnish version of Richard Marcinko.
Not only was he a solider under 3 Flags. He was a early member of the Green Berets in the 1950's. He is currently buried in Arlington Cemetery with honors. Look up his Wikipedia page. He is very much respected among any person in the US SOF. He was in his 40's when he got his beret. He was the inspiration for the character that John Wayne played in the movie The Green Berets. He has a building named after him at Fort Carlson home of the 10th Special Forces.
Omg I love it that you are doing this over Skype. That's enthusiasm and devotion. Keep it up and stay safe!

@@SabatonHistory Its so good, you said it twice. 😃
@@philiphalpin1997 That's Joakim and Indy each
The man LITERALLY went to war within THREE armies in TWO generations to face ONE enemy. It doesn't get more badass than that.
He also chose to fight with germany against Finland, so not just one enemy.
@@lavrentivs9891 Stop spreading your propaganda, your claim got debunked already.
@@lacciful By whom?
Edit: Also, how exactly am I supposed to stop writing something I wrote two weeks ago?
Lauri Törni really deserve 3 episode since surviving one war is already a something, while willingly to go to 3 war in 3 diferent army is really something.
Rest of the world - you can only Join one Army and bleed for one country
Lauri - hold my Stein
I'm impressed you guys managed to pull off an episode of this quality even during the Corona lockdown, thumbs up!
Cheers!
Lauri Torni was like Rambo - his war has never ended
One of the most underrated Sabaton Songs
Underrated? It's one of the best anti-communist song ever made
Someone: I like red.
Tömi: you are already dead
Nobody:
Not a single person:
Not even the ghost of Conrad von Hotzendorf:
Finland during World War 2: *produces the greatest sniper known to man, a literal personification of hatred of communism, amd the first military smackhead*
@Phi6er His name was Aimo Koivunen. Long story short, his ski patrol unit got attacked by Soviets, and be got separated from them. He was also carrying the units entire ration of Pervitin (meth used to stay awake on duty), but was too panicked to get one pill out so he just took all 30. What followed was a 1-2 week long bender where he should have died several times over, getting injuries including stepping on a landmine, and skiing for over 250 miles before making it to a Finnish hospital and being admitted. I think his heart rate was measured somewhere around 200bpm and he weighed 94 pounds by the end of it all
Humans are fookin mad
The term 'war crazy' describes him quite well. Years ago when I heard this song the first time, I asked my mother whether she knew the man; she did, described him as a man who liked fighting, I don't think it was about national glory for Lauri. I think he just wanted to fight,
America: so you actively fought against the allies in both Finland and in Germany the latter serving one of the most evil regimes on the face of this earth that killed a total of 11 million civilian
Toüri: I was fighting communist
America: you're in the army now
He even chose the SS over his native Finland.
@Finnish Guy When the Lapland war started, Törni sided with the nazis, not Finland.
@Finnish Guy Got a reputable source for that number?
@Finnish Guy So no source that you would want to openly admit to?
@Finnish Guy Just saying, the Black Book of Communism has thoroughly been debunked en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Black_Book_of_Communism#Criticism
Even if it were true, arguments can be said that capitalism has killed more people at a higher rate (sample video explaining that here: ua-cam.com/video/KKK6_1OqUAI/v-deo.html )
Yes, there are arguments against leftist beliefs (And I say this as an anarcho-communist), but to exaggerate numbers doesn't do any debate good.
As a history buff, there aren't many songs by Sabaton that surprise me with a story I didn't know, This one's one of those exceptionsm, so, finally glad to see this one (and in 3 parts!!).
Just wanted to say "Thanks!", great episode as always, keep up the great work and stay safe!

Soldier of three armies is probably one of my top favorite Sabaton songs, and the story behind is just incredible as well. Thank you for posting videos even in these difficult times, hope you are well!!! (And btw, i think that video quality is still really good)
like for Ryan!!!!
I love that you guys are still doing this for us during quarantine
You're welcome!
When I saw the first few seconds, I was like ´´No, are they using Zoom?´´, but then I heard Skype and I was like ´´Oh thank god´´. I prefer Discord, but Skype is still good.
Edit: Also, you have nothing to worry about, Joakim. Nothing will happen if you reveal your home address. You'll just receive books and other stuff to help you write a new song. I mean, I think that Sabaton fans aren't insane enough to go and visit your place.
Well, I've witnessed some crazy shit during my life, and I think it's good to remember that even though we here on the comment section have nothing but respect for the man, there still are millions of other people out there. It wouldn't be nice if someone unstable, who thinks Joakim spreads fascist ideas for example, shows up on his doorstep. Not to mention the possibility of unstable women lurking under his bedroom window and singing about sucking his metal machine. You never know what's going on in people's heads and therefore anything is possible.
I mean... we won't go and visit him now, but knowing how crazy we can be...

Finnish folk humor during the winterwar. There are so many of them and we are so few where should we bury them all :-)
Yeah those were some tough times.
I love you guys for not stopping to supply us with historical stories and entertaining content. Thank you especially now that Torni is in question, he is my absolute idol and I look up to him. I am an 18 year old marksman and wrestler. I will soon be joining the Serbian Army and hope I fight a war during my lifetime. I am also looking up to my ancestors and serbian war culture. For me, victory in combat means everything. Thanks once more, and cheers to sabaton music for always being there to support my fighter morale! Живјела побједа златна!

Not even the COVID-19 pandemic can keep Sabaton History from telling the world of such history. Thank you for taking the time to post the first part of Lauri Allan Torni. I look forward to seeing what the next two episodes bring forth.
You're welcome!
One of my favourite songs from the Heroes' album, though all of them are great.
It's so amazing to see you all doing great and that you're healthy! The work you put into this channel is impeccable! Keep it up and stay safe!!

This is one of my favorite Sabaton songs, and I love that it's being split into three. Thanks Indy, Pär and Joachim for giving this legend the respect he deserves.
I always wanted an episode about this song, thank you. Now ill have something to look forward to during lockdown
I found not long ago a book in Icelandic about a woman who served in the Soviet Union era during the Fatherland wars and was one of the few who got high promotion
If I knew I could have sent it to Joakim to read, I'd have bought it for him
I am so excited that it is a trilogy about the three armies! You guys could not have made it better! Congrats on keeping the superb work even in these conditions were are living in.
Thank you very much! :)
Awesome video as always guys.
Can't wait for parts 2 and 3.
Glad you're still able to upload despite this verdamn virus!
My favourite song and it's covered in multiple parts. This is great.
I am so happy you are doing a history mini series on this song i think its a great tale and i love the song
Glad to see you all staying safe and still doing the video! And thanks for doing one of my favorite songs! I can't wait for the next parts. All about the man who hated red so much he probably bled white out of spite.

There is (imho) absolutely no need to make apologies about Skype, thank goodness it's all possible and we can still enjoy those amazing stories and videos!
So what’s next? 13 episodes on the art of war? ;)
I'm glad to see you guys in good health! Stay safe and keep up the good work, wherever you film it.
Interviewer: So, how did it feel to kill someone??

If his dad was part of the Finnish Civil War and all he got out of it was that he wanted to join the army, I'm not surprised.
I shamefully neglected this channel in the past few weeks while you guys were creating content even in the quarantine. Thank you, I'll close up in no time.
I have to admit, I've always overlooked this song somehow, I mean it's good, but not amng my favorites. Maybe because I wasn't that interested in the story of Törni either. But now, with such details and insight, it picked up my curiosity.

theyre going to be good!
The only soldier decorated for gallantry in three separate armies. A good three-part episode needed to explain Lauri's career. Maybe I should give you my spare copy of "My Brave Boys."
Hah, the first time I see Indy and the production team making a mistake (and of course it had to be the Törni-episode, damn it!)! Allthough it's propably because of the lack of proper photos of Lauri, while speaking of nco-trained man you presented pictures of him with wrong ranks, from the end of winter war as second liuetenant and a liuetenant from continutation war. We had small vertical bars as nco-badges and stars/roses as officers. Small thing, just had to say it. Otherwise, really high class stuff with our war of indepence and the situation of isthmus clarified. There are a lot of good stories about Törnis actions during winter war, you could've kept going for an hour.
Simple history made a video for Torni, the guy was a beast/mad man lol. Cool video, keep up the good work
Thanks!
Can't wait to see you guys in St. Louis in September, hope you guys love this city

I love that you guys did this via Skype! I feel like this is a special collector's edition episode!
It's definitely part of Sabaton History now
