Thank you for doing direct comparisons of the maps in this video, it looked great and must have taken a lot of work! Opened my eyes and hopefully I spot the differences in my now 4th 100% playthrough of the game... Can't wait till I can record my own Pikmin videos.
most of these can be explained by changing seasons at a small scale, especially the moving puddles in the awakening wood. Some things are stretches, like the shower room being exposed, but perhaps the boss there burrows for the winter and their young (the nearby toady bloysters) revealed the place digging out That the impact site and final trial are so close together is concerning. Unless olimar accidentally looped the earth on the p1 stage select they've MOVED. More ominous is the huge sandbox built over the smokey progg's hatching site. I can't think of a single non-deliberate explanation
In one of the notes in-game, Olimar comments about the drastic changes the planet went through in such a seemingly short time, and theorizes its caused by shifting tectonic plates. That's pretty much the only explanation they give.
@@lasercraft32 it's frustrating because I'm almost entirely certain it's something I'm putting more thought into than the devs like if I brought any of this shit up to them they'd be like "it's a cartoon" you know. or resort or public pool. the Awakening Wood/Forest of Hope seems to be in someone’s overgrown backyard garden. there is a Yield sign in the Wistful Wild so that could’ve beed a road. in the Valley of Repose there’s a manhole cover surrounded by some asphalt and a crosswalk, so this area could have also been a street. You can even see the shadow of power lines
@prestonandtom9337 bro the caves don't matter if you saw miyamatos inspirations to make the game it was based off his backyard and also pikmin 2 areas are pikmin 1 area remixes
+Yoshidude 64 Productions There is one area that I noticed from the Forest Navel in Pikmin appearing in Pikmin 2. The path to the Hole of Heroes bares a bit of a resemblance to that path where there are lots of fire geysers near the bottomless pit in Pikmin.
One thing I don't understand is in pikmin 2 the crash site and the final trial are next to each other but in pikmin 1 we clearly see on the map it's really far away.
I don't have a WiiU yet xD I don't plan to get one until Pikmin 3 is about to be released since I want that to be my first game But when I do get one, sure you can add me! :D
As a kid I only had slight thoughts of familiarity in these areas, but now that I see it I fully understand why people talk about just revised maps. However in a way I like it. It doesn't just show that going light-years from earth time passes, but it makes sense as Olimar probably wasn't comfortable exploring new areas and decided getting existing treasure made sense at that time.
I'm a little disappointed that Pikmin 3 didn't do ANY of this kind of thing... the new areas didn't inherit any of the features from the first two games. :c
Nobody seems to question how long it takes to travel from pn-404 to hocotate and back. Im curious because when you consider just how different things are next time and how many creatures have evolved new characteristics like yellow pikmin becoming electric, it’s very interesting.
They don't. Valley of Repose is the only non-recycled area in Pikmin 2, and it's above ground. The Forest Navel is underground, and its layout is only reused in Pikmin 3, in Forgotten Cave (Mission Mode).
Wait a second, who built those shower tiles and platforms in the perplexing pool? If it was the distant spring, there would have to have been humans that built the things, otherwise they wouldn't be there!
The tiles are built in a hole and originally that hole was covered with sand. Then something blew away all the sand and exposed the shower room plus a couple water pipes.
@@sirboringname I know, but what I meant to ask was where did all that concrete come from? And why is there so much more sand than in the Distant Spring?
We genuinely dont know how the life works around here to a full extent. Perhaps everything here just recovers or changes faster than what would usually be possible on our planet
So are they ultimately the same environments, in different seasons between the games? Or is it just Nintendos way of taking short cuts in map designing and I'm just hyping this shit?
just an assumption but olimar left for about 55 minutes and returned but everything was extremely different, my theory is that time on hocotate and other planets is normal like ours but PNF-404's time moves fast it could have been a year or more for the pikmin.
Pikmin Is My Fav Nintendo Game. (I Prefer The Second And The Third) I Have Pikmin 2 On Wii :/ I Don't Like The Control And Too lazy To Stand Still With The Command In My Hands. (I Played It On GameCube Too).
dazz listen, you know in pikmin 1 the bad ending well if olimar turns in to olimin why doesnt things like the armored cannon larva turn into armored cannonminjust a thought but please help me im really confused!
And also because then Nintendo would have to make TONS of new Pikmin onions and space on the map, and the game couldn't handle it. Plus, the main red-yellow-blue Pikmin would eventually be gone, making the original onions useless.
I think the gates in the second game are bone gates. When a creature olimar killed decomposed the bones stayed probably making the gates, you don't always need to use the bodies.
i hope pikmin 3 is more like pikmin 1,the music and above ground is muck better in pikmin 1.the only things i want to see back from pikmin 2 is :Luie,Presedent, enemys but no coming back to life or waterwraith unless you have purple, unlimeted amount of days, purple and white pikmin, lightning.Note this list onlt includes IN GAME stuff not multyplayer or stuff like that.
He does, in his logs about the Wistful Wild treasures he mentions how it looks familiar, and has a realization that it’s where he crash landed the first time
Does anyone else wonder what would happen if you brang the final treasure in Pikmin 1 on the Night of Day 30, then return after you beat the game? Do you get day 31?
No. The game immediately ends after day 30, no matter the circumstances. The only way to keep playing is to start a new file or reset to a previous day.
I'm not gonna lie here: I loved the Pikmin 1 and 2 Maps, but when I saw them reused slightly in Pikmin 2 I thought "Well, that's a bit cheap..." - So I hope for the love of god that they use different areas on the Distant Planet, like try using the other side of it..
Omg when I saw the landing zone of Wistful Wild I knew it looked like the Emperor Bulblax’s arena! This video was awesome c:

Now compare the Forest Navel with the Forgotten Cove mission mode level in Pikmin 3.
@Casey Aydin Yea, I've been watching on flixzone for since november myself :)
@Casey Aydin Yup, have been using flixzone for months myself :)

Still no pikmin 4
@Fern Mackenzie I already heard the news
Its been 10 years now... we've just gotten the first teaser for Pikmin 4.
It released last weekend. What do you think?
Too bad the forest navel wasn't in pikmin 2 at least it was a bonus level in the third game (forgotten cave)
Coincidental!
Nintendo "forgot" the forest nAval so they put it in the 3rd game.
Valley of repose should be forest navel
Cove, not cave!
@@LegosforFr33 it can't be because the forest navel is grotto

They say in-game that its caused by "shifting tectonic plates" but it doesn't entirely clear things up. Just don't think too hard about it I guess XD
I say Olimar, not being familiar with the world took the long way around
8:57 GLITCHING PRESIDENT AWAY! made me laugh so hard.

WOW I didn't even know the impact site and the Final Trial was the wistful wild

Damn how they scaled the maps down from Pikmin 1.
I think everyone got bigger

Olimar: Yay! My boss is unconscious! Hooray! I mean... crap. I.. uh should go.. save him!

Citadel Of Spiders 5 Is Actually A Small Fraction Of The Forest Navel
How?
It has the BLL boss, but that doesnt mean its from it.
Since the perplexing pool has that boss, too.
I'm a little disappointed that Pikmin 3 didn't do ANY of this kind of thing... the new areas didn't inherit any of the features from the first two games. :c
Forgotten cove did
Olimar: Ive been gone for ONE second and you fckers change this place
Seeing how time gets changed when traveling in space.... ehh.. i can kinda see this happening.

It is sad how things changed from pikmin 1 and 2
I can't tell why this is so relaxing... but it is.

The reason the final trial is mashed with the impact site and that the forest navel is the valley of repose is most.likely because of an earthquake.
Nope
I dont remember earthquakes changing the position if land
@@OrbitalParallaxtectonic plates
Valley of repose not a forest navel
wait... so...
