Below the 1st rib is the 1st intercostal space. Not below the clavicle.

Great point! INTERcostal definitely means BETWEEN the ribs. Keep in mind that the first rib lies partially underneath the clavicle so it is very difficult to palpate. The first soft tissue space inferior to the clavicle is therefore the first ICS. Check out this image for a visual: images.app.goo.gl/Ztd1goi2bYdp1K4f7
