My dad is retired marines. We always used to go by cabellas and he would point out the massiveness of the de. He would never buy something like that for himself. I went home one Christmas but did not have enough money for a bus ticket to get back to school. So he pawned his 9mm and a 22 I think. Couple years go bye and I had enough money to return the favor. Ended up getting him the 50ae that he would never buy for himself one Christmas, and retold that story that he had since forgotten. One of the few times I have ever seen him cry.
True, but most 9mms don't have the tactical advantage of a gold tiger striped finish, which is known to make even the fiercest enemy combatant fall to their knees and beg for forgiveness.
"If you have a burglary, and you have to shoot it, through the fridge, and he has a bulletproof vest on, and he is in your neighbors house, then this is the gun for you" Just about sums it up perfectly
The Desert Eagle is more of a usable status symbol like glided swords were. Yes, you can use it for self-defense but in all reality your security detail would have taken care of the threat before you get the chance to.
Unless your a bush pilot then it's a practical device 7+1 is more rounds than a 5 shoot revolver plus a mag change is a lot faster reload than a revolver
@@sqike001ton There are both .357 and .44 Magnum Desert Eagles. The rimmed cartridge isn't great for semi-auto use but it's akin to using .22LR in a semi-auto (it does work, there just needs to be an overlap so the cartridge rims don't interlock). I sincerely considered buying a .357 Desert Eagle once and even saw a used .44 DE for a surprisingly reasonable price at my local gun shop. That was a lot of years ago and at this point I haven't gone shooting in so long I don't even know if I can hit a target anymore. I also sold my .44 revolver. Anyway... the .357 holds 9+1 and .44 holds 8+1 and both of the smaller magnums are a wee bit smaller and easier to carry.
@@ivanf4023 I know about the baby DEs most pilots I know of carry 454 casull revolvers (admittedly the 500 S&W was popular for a while along with pistol grip shotguns) most of those 454 revolvers are 5 shots tho 454 is a more powerful round my friend who is a bush pilot and myself like autos and chose more rounds and quicker reloads
I think it's more of a de-escalation device - when you bring a grenade to a rock fight, people are suddenly MUCH more willing to cooperate with you, and the very sight of that damn thing has the same effect. Also, because it might be able to breach doors.
I carry my .460 S&W concealed in my coat sleeve down the armpit. If you have a 263 pound tackle running at you at 20 mph, it has full stopping power to take out the lower spine throught the belly button.
The .50 cal Desert Eagle. The “I wanna cut my enemy in half, but don’t want to close enough to use a chainsaw” gun. It’s also a skeleton key. Guaranteed to open 99 of 100 doors.
I think my favorite (often overlooked) feature of the Desert Eagle is how you can just swap out the barrel and immediately go to .357 or .44. If you pick one up with all the barrels, it's like having three completely different guns.
Sadly, mine is the old one, made in Israel. Which in itself is fine- I’m told it’s actually slightly better than the modern ones. However, it’s all but impossible to find the barrels that fit the old ones. So I’m only one caliber.
@@Suchsdirhaltaus yeah I like the ballistics of .44 a lot more, and you could carry more rounds. It would change this from a meme gun into something remotely practical
@@adabsurdum5905 exactly. Also it isn't so fucking expensive using it. When you're using 50 AE and you're trying to defend your home its cheaper to just let them take everything instead of wasting a shot or at least that's how it feels like.
The SMG lets you apply a lot of lead all over the target, if you miss no biggie. The DE lets you apply 1 item of lead that'll tend to delete the target
If it hits, and if the HUMAN BEING you're shooting at doesn't get off several more shots killing you, and if the recoil of the gun doesn't cause you to miss completely. Gimme a reliable 9mm any day. Or don't because I already have one.

@@devilshand635 its actually because 9mm doesnt waste any energy on clay, its just penetrated right through. .50 cal bullet got destroyed by the impact and there are no whole bullet hit on target behind it. And if we consider old WW2 german AT rifle desighns - lower callber with big powder charge actualy had bigger penetrarion values than bigger rounds.
When reloading for that pistol, you have to use max reloading data. Which causes that high dollar brass to split after on a couple of reloads. I's also almost as heavy as some carbines. If you're camping in bear country and something goes bump in the night, it is very comforting to have one.
We're already over max with our reloads according to Vihtavouri manual but the reloads feel quite weaker than factory Hornady ammo. We will slowly and carefully try to bring our reloads to a consistently working level
If i remember correct, my final load was 29 grain of vihtavuori n110, with 300gr imi sp, tucked inside in imi brass. Brass didn't stretch or crack even after reloaded multiple times. PF was in the 430 range and DE cycled quite nice so long as your grip was firm.
I've got giants bears in my backyard and dinosaurs in my kitchen every morning, it's veeeeeery useful. And so cheap to use, bullets grows on my carpet, so easy to harvest.
Extremely entertaining demonstration of the awesome power of this hand cannon. The clay target demonstration was impressive, moving, and spoke volumes.
I've seen bears take .300magnum rounds without slowing down. A .50AE might not even get penetration through the fur and certainly not the fat. It will make a loud noise that might make them pause though but so will a 9mm
The Mozambique drill is rendered useless by the 50AE, if you hit them once in the chest, maybe the 2nd chest shot, but probably NOT, and the head shot is a complete waste 🤣
Mozambiques are impossible with deagle. First shot creates hole. Second shot goes through the void of first gaping wound and hits nothing, and then the third is a headshot. So technically, only one to the chest and one to the head.

I had a long-term assignment in Texas back in the late 90's. In my off time, I used to go to the Bullet Trap, a store and indoor range that would let you rent guns on their range. One day I'm at a station on one side of the range and I hear this enormous explosion. Now, I'm wearing muffs and ear plugs, but this sound was incredible. I turned right, expecting to see some poor S.O.B. with gun parts embedded in his face. Nope, he was wailing away with a Desert Eagle .50. The range had sound deadening panels on the ceiling, and every time he fired, particles of those panels would shake loose from the pressure wave from the gun. Before I left that assignment I decided, with some trepidation, to try out the Desert Eagle. I'm a small guy with small hands and I really didn't want to embarrass myself by firing the gun and have it fly out of my hands. Well that didn't happen, thankfully, nor did I tattoo my forehead with any part of the gun. I had a nice fist sized group at 7 yards my first time. I didn't shoot it a lot; those rounds cost $1.62 a piece.
The Desert Eagle was designed as a carbine rifle you could wear in a holster for Israeli tankers, one less thing to grab when you had to abandon the tank. After I learned that, it makes a lot more sense. I love mine in .44 mag, but keep the ammo hot and don't try to use unjacketed lead.

What type of rounds do you use. Mines tend to jam so much that I don’t even take it to the range anymore but seeing this video I am thinking it’s the type of rounds I was using because I tried everything else
Here in Texas many people I know including me, own one or two. And no one uses it for Carry/Home Defense etc Its a novelty gun for us Texans Purely Fun ..and its a must add on to the collection!
I pocket carry .357 and .45 ACP. I would have to reserve this 50AE for winter carry. I used to be 286 lbs, but shrank to 186. I think this would outshine long guns and the .44 Mag ending an attack and, unlike a long gun, this does not need a SBR tag.

I bought a desert eagle .44 mag in my younger years before the .50 AE came out. Then I got married and had a kid. This was my bedside home defense system. I left the chamber empty, because there was no way my young son could've pulled back that slide to chamber a round. My wife couldn't even do it, lol. Also, they're correct about the ammo. If you shoot reloads, they have to be hot. Factory ammo also. I still have this weapon that I bought way back right around 1990.
I have the .44 & .50 Desert Eagle. I absolutely love the gun! The most fun I’ve had shooting a pistol. And never had mine not function or jam up. Using the factory mags & recommended ammo is the key.
It's good that Tactical Gnome has the lining inside the holster, most DE's have horrible finishes that rub off easily. Can confirm they are useless but really fun range toys.
To summarize, not incredibly useful outside of extreme circumstances even in self defense, but incredibly fun. Its kinda like any rifle that shoots 50 BMG. In that sense, not really useful for hunting or self defense unless what your shooting at is has some incredibly heavy armor plating, but fun as hell.
@@fort809 this. Both 50 bmg and 30-06 suffer accuracy problems at max range. There is a reason you see 338 and not 30-06 for long range man size targets.
With my deagle I have found the key to reliability for me. Two things, Keep it and its magazines clean, itll be dirtier than you think after just 20 shots. The next one might be debateable, BUT I removed the bolt hold open spring and plate from one of my mags and since then I have had no issues. It seems to me it you like load the mags and push the bullets out by hand, it seemed like the follower would get stuck right before the bolt hold open would come threw. To me personally, I dont care if the slide locks back. Luckily I still have all my fingers so I can count to 10.
It sounds perfect for home defense, intimidation can play a big factor, it can consistently knock down targets and the high energy transfer means it shouldn't be going through the walls!
The Desert Eagle was conceived in 1979, early Pistols known as Eagle 357 were announced in 1982 in the .357 Magnum Cartridge in St. Paul, Minnesota USA
On the Safety Lever and the force needed to move it; I just reduced the force in half and it took 5 minutes. Each lever (one on each side) has a leaf spring detent under the lever itself, both levers are screwed to either side of the same shaft. I just unscrewed one lever and removed the leaf spring detent under that lever and screwed it back on. With only one leaf spring detent instead of two it is much easier to move the Manual Safety lever, either side.
When you understand what the desert eagle was designed to do everything about it makes perfect sense, she was designed to put bullets through the engine blocks of cars while not weighing 30 lb (like how a rifle in that caliber would weigh.) She was designed for the guy who sits at a checkpoint all day, and when someone acts a fool she puts holes through them, and field tests show she's very, very good at that.
I daily carry a .44mag DE, 300gr copper solid would not crack an engine block. And what rifle do you know that is 30lbs? My 300 win mag weighs 5 lbs, my H&K ar-10 weighs 9lbs my benelli M2 only weighs 12 lbs fully loaded.
I reckon blockman is referring t o Barret with the 30 lb gun. The truth is, Desert Eagle was the product of magnum research (Yes, exactly what you think that entails). They designed a gun that can handle .50 caliber and a lot of powder.. And then they went to downsize to have more of reasonable, but still larger pistol caliber. Like John's (above in the comments) .44 DE the biggest 'practical' DE Magnum Research intended, because a lot of armed forced DID use .44 back then. However, since big gun is fun gun, .50 caliber started getting interest all around the globe so Magnum Research was like "Fuck it, let's manufacture in the Big boy bullet size too"
Ehh, no its not. Riffle round does it better, and when you consider DE size and weight then suddenly riffle doesnt look that heavy. And when you compare cost then DE becomes inferior. A status weapon, like those 7kg swords that were not desighned for battle.
There's a quote I like "There is literally only one legitimate use case for the Desert Eagle, and that is when Shaq goes deer hunting, and carries a backup sidearm to put wounded stags out of their misery."
I used to have one and reloaded for it. Some reloading data was underpowered and would not run the gun. Speer data worked well for me, needed hot ammo. I traded it for a Glock 20 and like that better for hunting. I wish i still had it but probably would never buy another one. Nicely made gun but the magazines caused problems with that weird floating design. Cool range toy, and would be a very accurate hunting pistol.
@@gameragodzilla it was not a problem with touching the magazine. The floating mags were strange and have not seen another gun use anything like it. I had issues with jams on a fully loaded magazine and keeping them loaded did help and reduce the tension over time. I had like 8 magazines and they were not cheap. Replaced the springs and the seemed to work better. I am not an engineer but the floating mags were strange. Hopefully the OEM magazines are better, they were junk for the 50 AE. Gun was great
Amazing content, thank you! You forgot about another practical use of Desert Eagle: you establish your big bad(ass?) status in no time. Also, the weight might help in close combat.
As a Matrix Agent, I feel that this is still the perfect weapon to delete those pesky redpills that think they're so cool with their bullet time. Parry this you filthy casual as the kids say
What's great about the desert eagle is that you have the autoloader equivalent to high power revolver rounds like 454 casull while still not killing your wrist. I've dumped mags with one and was fine. Can't say the same after a cylinder full of casull in a gun that was chambered for 460 s&w. The revolver was heavier due to needing to be able to fire the 460, so the 454 round's recoil should have been dampened a little because of the denser metal in the frame. A single cylinder full was enough for me. My wrist didn't hurt afterwards, but it would have if I kept shooting. I tried the 460 rounds after firing the 454. Wrist hurt pretty good after a cylinder full for about 10 minutes or so.
I feel .357 Magnum is not nearly powerful enough to justify the size of the Desert Eagle. I mean you can just get a 10 mm auto and its basically the same, but more reliable with greater capacity. Also the Coonan .357 1911 exists. I feel like you need to at least get the .44 Magnum. Or better yet get get the .44 Magnum and a .50 AE barrel and magazine. Also you can get the L5 in .50 + .44 as well
@@rangerover06sc the newer models of .357 deagles are substantially smaller than the .44 and .50 caliber ones. However you are probably right. 10mm auto is quite punchy.
Most important part of owning a DE: working out. That sumbitch is HEAVY. Something like 2 kilos. Holding that out at arm's length tires out your shoulders fast. Also I just purchased one of your holsters and mag carriers for it. Can't wait until the carrier pigeon arrives from sunny Slovenia
Update: my holster and mag carrier arrived! I'm very pleased with the quality. It's rock solid, which is important for a gun that's 5lbs loaded! Retention is good, it can be held upside down without dropping the gun but isn't so strong that it's hard to draw
The Deagle works like a rifle more than a pistol. It has a gas piston & a rifle looking bolt in it. The first time I got to tinker with one was a bit of a shocker, but it made sense when I put it in perspective. These things are meant to be more of a carbine than a handgun, so it makes sense that it operates like a carbine.
From my own experience, I got a gold in .44 because .44 is usually 400-500$ cheaper (might be more nowadays) than the .50, but all you have to do is buy a couple hundred dollar .50 ae barrel and swap it out and save yourself 100-400$. would definitely recommend anyone doing this to get different barrel colors though, dont want to be forgetting which you have on at the time.
What about a DE with a chassis? You could use a DE for anti-door/anti-cover situations. If you're engaging atarget behind heavy cover, you might be able to blow that cover away with .50 AE
@@brettalexander220 Shotguns are not equivalent to DEs, lol. Also you can mount optics on chassis and the chassis can be collapsible , giving you far greater concealability.

especially if you use Hollow Point bullets in a Desert Eagle!!!! Hell, I got a box of Hornady XTP .44 Magnum cartridges (20 rounds in a box) that are hollow-points, and if I were to hit a bad guy in his leg or arm in a self-defense fight, that round could potentially blow off his limb (or make a very large hole in his chest if it was a body shot).
@Lex Bright Raven If he's referencing the same story I'm thinking of, it's true and is on record. Yes it was a police shooting. Dude just took a fuckton of .45 ACP rounds and kept coming. Almost everything you've listed here guys sounds like people's problem with the Beretta 90 series especially that issue with the slide mounted safety I actually particularly like that it's got options for things of that nature. I love the desert eagle. Definitely one of the finest pistols ever made. The recoil is surprisingly very manageable. I wouldn't call a pocket sniper useless. They're great for hitting targets from point blank range to 200+ meters.
Personally, my choice would be the FN Five-SeveN due to its very high muzzle velocity, low-recoil and very high capacity but the Desert Eagle just looks amazing. I think it’s the best looking handgun ever made!!
I love my desert eagle. Anyone that thinks it's anything other than a range toy is kidding themselves. You can hunt with it, to be fair, if pistol hunting is your thing. I would still rather have a wheelgun.
I can just imagine someone using a deagle 50AE in a self defense situation, unlike some gunfights with 9mm's, this gunfight would end as soon as the aggressor gets hit.
I EDC my Desert Eagle, the method you showed on how to carry by depressing the hammer and leaving it off safety is how I go about it. I use both hands on my pistol to relieve the hammer. Jamming your pinky in between the hammer and easing it out is more reliable. As long as your safe about it then there’s no problem. The hammer no longer has enough energy or power to set off the primer, until you pull that hammer back and let it rock. As you most likely know, when you engage the safety, it locks the firing pin in place and disconnects the trigger. The Desert Eagle might be big and loud, but it’s pretty solidly built pistol and I love all the more because of that.
As a newer shooter, I found I had a lot of cycling issues. I would either jerk it down so it wouldn’t load the next round, or I would limp wrist it so it wouldn’t fully seat. If you don’t have good recoil control it does not hold your hand

I think my favorite (often overlooked) feature of the Desert Eagle is how you can just swap out the barrel and immediately go to .357 or .44. If you pick one up with all the barrels, it's like having three completely different guns.
you can do that between 44 and 50 ae, the 357 has a different bolt face. but the bolt can also be switched easy enough
I personally would mostly use it as .44 since it's more than enough and not so much of a kick compared to a 50AE

- Everybody thinks that is heavy, slow, really expensive to maintain and basically useless. But is that really true ?
- *YES*
There's a quote I like "There is literally only one legitimate use case for the Desert Eagle, and that is when Shaq goes deer hunting, and carries a backup sidearm to put wounded stags out of their misery."
Saw a clip a bit ago of someone with a full auto version, watching the firerings bloom was sick
I just love how you don't take this video seriously. I wish more gun channels had videos like this.
Wouldn’t the floating magazine only be an issue if you’re teacupping it?
@@gameragodzilla it was not a problem with touching the magazine. The floating mags were strange and have not seen another gun use anything like it. I had issues with jams on a fully loaded magazine and keeping them loaded did help and reduce the tension over time. I had like 8 magazines and they were not cheap. Replaced the springs and the seemed to work better. I am not an engineer but the floating mags were strange. Hopefully the OEM magazines are better, they were junk for the 50 AE. Gun was great
Typically for hunting you want to eat the animal not parts of the animal.
@@brorx4475 Strange, I never had issues with me before.
Amazing content, thank you!
You forgot about another practical use of Desert Eagle: you establish your big bad(ass?) status in no time.
Also, the weight might help in close combat.
True :D
Yup when you run out of ammo you can still use it as a malee weapon 😅
As a Matrix Agent, I feel that this is still the perfect weapon to delete those pesky redpills that think they're so cool with their bullet time. Parry this you filthy casual as the kids say
netflix: are you still watching?
someone's daughter: 2:09
The humour in this video is top notch, I had serious problems containing myself ^^ Good job!
With the coming age of small, unmanned ground combat drones, an anti-material handgun may indeed be something militaries will come to need.
we have things like the fn five-seven
The smaller .357 Deagle is actually kinda cool, sort of an analog to other high powered autoloaders perhaps
@Kobe H The small Desert Eagle is called the L5, and you can get it in all 3 calibers including .50 AE
@@rangerover06sc it appears I am behind of desert eagle development, thanks for the correction
Tactically speaking yes. It’s basically a collectors item and or range gun.
What about a DE with a chassis?
You could use a DE for anti-door/anti-cover situations. If you're engaging atarget behind heavy cover, you might be able to blow that cover away with .50 AE
Shotgun works too, cheaper, can mount optics.
@@brettalexander220
Shotguns are not equivalent to DEs, lol.
Also you can mount optics on chassis and the chassis can be collapsible , giving you far greater concealability.
@@iamscoutstfu n what im saying is that a shotgun is more practical for that
@@brettalexander220
Considering its more bulky, harder wield, and has a completely different ballistic profile compared to the DE, I have to disagree with you there sport.
I gauge it as a generally sub-standard option compared to the DE + chassis.
Thanks for playing.
@@iamscoutstfu >''sport'' ''thanks for playing''
Hostile much?
*The Desert Eagle:*
For when you want your home intruders to appreciate the work of Picasso.
The guy pulling out the eagle and knocking over the target cracked me up, I love this gun 😂
Big hug from Venezuela, we love your content. Keep it up guys!
Thank you!
Cheers from Slovenia :)
Recently in a stream I watched some Venezuelan Guy made a Big Donation with a message. The message only said:
"The cocaine is good here in Venezuela. God Bless, Boyos." and then he left the stream.
@@WW-ir7sm XD 😆, no idea bro. I think the circus will continue as long as there are clowns who clap for them.
Well, IWI wanted a Pistol that is similar to a big Revolver, but with Mags.
if you have a burglar and you have to shoot it... through the fridge... and he has a bullet proof vest on..... and he's in your neighbors house then i think this is the right handgun for the job. - polar tactical
I don't know why but "...and he is in you neighbour's house..." made me laugh so much my tea came out of my nose.
Wow... Very instructive and mind blowing. Hi from Brazil. Congratulations for your amazing job. 🎉
"If you have to shoot a guy through a fridge and he is wearing a bullet proof vest and he is in your neighbors house"
I lost it- LOL
What I consider about 9mm which I usually carry, though I have carried my deagle in certain situations is that according to a lot of data dudes can have mags of 9mm emptied in them and continue to be a threat. Wouldn’t happen with the deagle.
Heard a story of a guy getting hit with 13 rounds of 45 acp and still coming.
especially if you use Hollow Point bullets in a Desert Eagle!!!!
Six of the wounds were noted to be "fatal but not immediately fatal". It took the cop triple-tapping him in the head to finally end the threat, and the guy didn't actually die until later on in the hospital. Adrenaline is one hell of a drug.
@@jackiethehuntress Yea that's the story, it was a cop, that pulled over a car and one of the suspects had a gun and supposedly the cop hit him with about 13 rounds of 45 ACP. And before the headshots he shot him in the leg from the other side of the car. Couldn't believe the story myself.
@@kylewhite8434 Yeah, it was a wild situation. Stories like that are the reason I don't buy into the "stopping power" mentality anymore. I'll take my 9mm's higher capacity and accuracy any day of the week.
If you want the "DE Cool" in a more reasonable package, consider the Jericho/Baby Eagle. My first pistol was a Jericho 9mm... absolute dream to fire. Of course, it resembles the DE in general form only, the internals are not similar.
It’s a licensed CZ design
my EDC is a Masada..the .44DE is for when I travel and my EDC is then backup
Yeah, if I had a DE, I would want the .357 Magnum or .44 Magnum version. .50 AE is cool, but I think it’s way more practical in those other calibers.
But if you go as far as buying a Desert Eagle, why not go all in?
@@PolenarTactical true, but if you have a gun with no ammo, what’s the point in having it? Plus, there is something sexy about the all black ported or a case hardened DE in .357 Magnum as well.
@@PolenarTactical .50 AE is just way too expensive, the .44 Magnum has about 70% of the Energy, but costs less than half. Also you can get 8 shots of .44 or 9 shots of .357 instead of just 7 shots 50AE. But for capacity a R8 Revolver (s&w model 327) would be lighter, more compact and overall way more practical.
@@WW-ir7sm “practically” is not something that should ever be discussed in the context of a DE. It’s a meme gun range toy and hey, if that’s what you want, there’s nothing wrong with it but don’t pretend for a second that you went with the .357 because it’s more practical
@Ghost so you can own a DE that has more ammo availability.
I don't know why but I feel like I could listen to a Slavic Accent talk about weapons forever and never get bored
i love your videostyle and humor guys, subbed!!
Almost everything you've listed here guys sounds like people's problem with the Beretta 90 series especially that issue with the slide mounted safety I actually particularly like that it's got options for things of that nature. Plus I've always thought that the desert eagle just looked like a enlarged Beretta. The m9 squared if you will.
The taurus PT does a lot of things wrong but putting the safety on the frame is not one of them
The DE is really an amazing piece of gunsmithing and there is only love or hate. I remember the early 90ies, when we founded our own gun club, the DE .44 Mag and the Super 90 M3 were the quasi standard of many members for competitions.
I love the desert eagle.
Definitely one of the finest pistols ever made. The recoil is surprisingly very manageable.
I wouldn't call a pocket sniper useless. They're great for hitting targets from point blank range to 200+ meters.
3:33 love that almost perfect sync
This is my first Polenar Tactical video and this guy is awesome haha subscribed
Personally, my choice would be the FN Five-SeveN due to its very high muzzle velocity, low-recoil and very high capacity but the Desert Eagle just looks amazing. I think it’s the best looking handgun ever made!!
I love my desert eagle. Anyone that thinks it's anything other than a range toy is kidding themselves.
You can hunt with it, to be fair, if pistol hunting is your thing. I would still rather have a wheelgun.
Agreed, on all fronts. For serious larger caliber work, a wheel gun just handles things so much better.
I can just imagine someone using a deagle 50AE in a self defense situation, unlike some gunfights with 9mm's, this gunfight would end as soon as the aggressor gets hit.
Same. Of course that's true with pretty much every self-defense situation with any gun when anybody - aggressor or responder - gets hit.
