I’ve almost had one jump in the truck with me, stood in front of the truck, I open the door. It came around to the passenger side and just stared up at me. My grandfather was like well get in.
Here all the grouse species are very shy. Its rare they would let you that close. I think it depends if there is long history of firearm hunting. I believe birds here connect people to the firearm and big bang they scare. They dont flee from cars so I think my theory is somewhat correct. And the rare times they let you close their camoflauge have worked so well that you always walk past them.
