He did a good job, but I don't think it is possible to perfectly imitate that solo like Randy did it. Everyone has their unique technique and style which is the hardest thing to imitate, notes can be learned off of a tab, but the feel is as difficult to match as is one's unique personality :)
If you listen carefully, you will hear that Randy had amazing clarity between individual notes, even at the blistering speed section, without all of the effects that Zack is using.

I was born in the late 80s, and I was like 14 or something the first time I saw footage of this concert in a bootleg DVD. It always struck me how many good looking girls went to this show. And this was at the height of grunge. One can only dream to find girls like these at metal shows nowadays.
