- This is the unused version of Yuuka's second theme from Touhou 4: Lotus Land Story
It's pretty much the same, with a few bits tweaked here and there. Only a few segments are noticeably different. However, I find myself drawn to this one more...
If the pre-chorus was at a lower pitch, like the original, this version would arguably be the Necrofantasia of PC-98 tracks. That chorus is godly on so many levels, it's odd that ZUN left this one out.

This...has a clear Necrofantasia prototype feel to it. The first super-powerful youkai with an umbrella already had that...hint of darkness in her theme, somehow.

In 0:43 you can hear that this has a necrofantsia vibe to it like your fighting confronting an actual boss similar to yukari 😮
To me, it feels like the in-game version and unused version of this song were “separated at birth.” When the first part of Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream loops, the unused version would kick in like a “verse 2”, then once the unused version would start its loop, it returns the version that’s used.

My guess is that the Yuuka fight ingame was too short for both songs to be combined.
Yuka Kazami is an good example that PC98 era characters can fit well with modern characters I want to see more of them in new games

This actually has potential to be the best music Zun have composed. It's a bit upbeat for Yuuka's theme, but switch instruments to ones from the used version, and it'll be better than even Necrofantasia.

Am i the wierd one here for having the opinion that Sleeping Terror is a much superior theme and one of the best Themes ZUN has composed? I don't even find Necrofantasia that good to be honest. There are a lot of themes that have better composition imo.
Seth Abercromby I don't know, I honestly just plain DISLIKE Necrofantasia, so I don't know.

Definitely a strange alternate version. The beginning is much lighter and less fitting for the fight, but the chorus is arguably even more intense than the game version. It goes without saying that both are great themes though, of course.
+HappyTriscuit I'd imagine that'd be Yuuka then retaliating violently at 0:42...
in my opinion, this version really sounds more like a final boss theme than the actual one. the darker sound of the chorus really ties into the rest of the game's soundtrack; Alice Maestra and Sleeping Terror for instance.
Yuuka's theme is still Inanimate Dream, but this is an unused version of Inanimate Dream. If you compare the two, parts of this song aren't in the actual version.

Used version of Inanimate Dream + Unused version = JynX remaster (And I think it's the best one)
I'm going to go out and state my controversial opinion here: I like the used version more, mainly because I prefer it melody-wise. My favorite part is the little flourish that plays after each verse during the chorus.
Same here, may I also add that the key progression in the used one has a better effect than the unused one. That's just my opinion though.
This one to me actually sounds too bright.
Yeah i also prefer the used one more but i gotta say this song has a tad bit more variety. Along with the epic 8bit solo at 0:43 but the thing making it sound weird is the pitch thing. It sounds better when it's lower.

The unused versions of the songs on the Gensokyo soundtrack all have heavier bass, basically. Which is better. Basically.
But yeah, after Reimu, Alice and Marisa, Yuuka is the most popular PC-98 character for a reason (Mima isn't even in the top 50 overall, Yuuka only just dropped out of the top 10 overall this year; FACE REALITY, MIMA FANS.)
countrybluegrass I reject your reality and substitute my own! Even if she isn't the most popular, Mima WAS the most relevant character in PC-98 after Reimu, as she and Marisa were both in 4 of the 5 games. Genjii was too, but he was basically an add-on to Reimu. I punch these numbers into my calculator and it makes a happy face.
Basically, she's most likely to be the next PC-98 character to return, if any of them do. And as for your "reality"... You *really* shouldn't let yourself be held back by such things when it comes to the affairs of Gensokyo.

The one used in the game sounds very upbeat, while this one sounds darker and more sinister.
Both are awesome, I like this one more though

I don't hate Sleeping Terror, I just sorta prefer Flower Land over it.
0:16 - 0:43 makes me think of if the original Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream was in Ten Desires and got a Spirit World version
While I quite like this version, I prefer the regular version's rather more percussive intro. I also think the different parts connect more seamlessly. The more sinister mood of this one earns some listens from me once in a while, though.
I will forever love this version more than the one used in-game.

This theme is more light and lively give you better mood while playing LLS, but the other is epic and pumping so you can enjoy LLS very much, maybe everybody want to try set volume to max while battle Yuuka?
I'd hurt my ears because I have gaming headphones that can go beyond a safe volume.

Why is everyone comparing this to Necrofantasia?
There's a different pitch for 0:17 - 0:41, 0:41 - 1:30 sounds slightly like part of the original, but not by much. It's pretty different. It was possibly replaced by the version actually used for Yuuka's theme because the opening doesn't fit with the rest of the song. But this is still amazing.

This theme is more suitable for a quieter yet more deadly Yuuka in my opinion,
I feel like if 0:42 was in the used version I would've been more satisfied

I have some good proofs that yuuka is near or at yukari level, in the PC-98 version she teleports you in the dream world (Mugetsu world
) for fight Reimu and Marisa, so that mean she can open dimension. She is more than immortal,like fairy immortalities, yukari cant do anything to her, fact that Reimu beat Yuuka was lie, yuuka begin to learn magic at the end of Mystic square after Beating Shinki a freaking godess and said she was weak (danmaku rules doesnt exist in PC-98, it was like a death match), in touhou 13 she fights Shikieiki, and wasn’t affraid. I think that means that Yuuka can win almost all the fights, Even if you are more strong than her, she will be always the predator, like Chara vs Sans, Chara will still smile and find a way to beat you= Yuuka will still smile and find a way to beat you.

I dunno, I like the other one better, but I feel like this one fits yuuka better because it feels more like a mature woman who has abilities linked to flowers. The other one feels like a little loli who has powers of mass destruction, yet she still acts like a rather serious final boss.

I actually wasn't absolutely in love with the original. I thought it was good, but I preferred the sleeping Yuuka theme. This, though, I do prefer.

i like the original better cause one big part thats missing in this one... is the replaced part at 0:41 and that part is my favourite part on the original. i said part a lot lol. and also.. Y U MAKE SO MANY ALT THEMES ZUN?

I prefer the instruments on the official version, but I much prefer the melody on this one.
Around the part of 0:16 there is a different kind of tune meanwhile in the original it's way different, there's a difference. Try listening to the original, or get the original and play the original at the same time with this and maybe you'll learn which parts are mended.

The pre-chorus kills the mood with how light and far too upbeat it sounds, and the chorus is way too repetitive and uninteresting and not as intense as the used version. Not a fan.
