How Manchester United Fix The “Worst Team" In Alan’s Lifetime | EP 118

- Опубліковано 11 тра 2024
- Is this really the worst Man United team in Alan’s lifetime? Why have this season’s promoted teams been so poor? Would a 6th place finish be a good season for Chelsea?
Gary, Alan and Micah also discuss how Pep Guardiola would do if he was the manager of a team at the bottom of the league.

Micah is the real winner in this title race. One of his team definitely winning the title
I don't know why he brought up his Arsenal fandom, it'll follow him forever now...City signs ur cheques brother.
@@thefacelessquestion3333even better. City pays him and he can support arsenal.
Imagine having an England team with Ferdinand, Terry, Ashley Cole, Gary Neville. Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard, Beckham, Rooney and Owen. How would we ever lose?
😂 Great point
Hardly Philip Smith from Ireland?? 🤔
BEEN exposed by people in the camp that gary neville caused division by taking the mufc players to dine seperatly and caused factions
bad manager :'D same with team now
That England line up would still lose to the Brazilain side that was 2002 and 1982
The transfer business from Burnley at the start of the season might be one of the worst transfer windows i can remember a promoted team having. No reinforcements where they actually need, and blows their whole budget on a championship standard player from one of the teams they got promoted with.
Could Micah tell us his fpl score at end season ?? Curious to see if I beat him 😂

Great football analysis, guys. Enjoying listening
In my opinion it would have been a tougher match for city at spurs had they not scored their first goal at the new place last time out !
Oh yes, genius Pep who spent £80m on a CB! He’d played LB before too.
Pep is a good manager, but he’s always needed money to do it. Not as impressive as buying a 500k midfielder from Ligue 2 like Kante, or £8m for a left back relegated with Hull, is it?
Gary Lunekar&Alan Shearer, twi greats of the game.had lyck to see both of them play.
Manchester United take note: DON'T sign players with: poor attitude, criminal record (however minor) stroppy partner, entourage of hangers on, pushy father, known dubious agent, tendency to be late (for training, coach, plane etc.), wanting their own clothing line when they've won f-all, bling of any kind, ridiculous coloured hair. Have I missed anything? And no, I'm not Roy Keane in disguise!
Had to wait, but finally Leverkusen got a mention for coming back and drawing the 2nd leg of the Europa League semi final. They really do play neat and tidy football around the opposition box. Sometimes they only have 2 in the box against 5 or 6 and still they find the space to create chances.
Sums up the state United is in that no one considered that United Arsenal is a title-deciding game all the focus is on City Spurs.
Arsenal are pretty poor also.90% gunna go trophyless again and lost to a worst Bayern team in 12 yrs whilst only taking 1 point of 12 against Fulham and Villa. Shows how poor the premier league
@@batofkrypton9765They also took more points off City and Liverpool than anyone and didn’t lose to them and are in the title race going into the last week of the season. Can’t be that bad can they

On the Euros debate. If he even thinks about taking Henderson, he deserves all derision from england fans… so much talent to choose from who are in form and ripping it up in Europe’s major leagues.
Henderson will play.. we all know it will happen. Together with maguire. Only person in England who would pick them both is Southgate.
Wish I had captained Gvardiol instead of Haaland
if Aina gets rid of the injuries he could be picked up by a top 8 team.
Manchester United had a worse side than now.
In 1973/74 they got relegated to the 2nd división.
Dennis Law score a goal playing for Manchester City against Manchester United On their final game of the season at Old Trafford.
They came up the very next year with Tommy Dochery and a Young side that included Lou Macari, Gordon Hill, Gerry Daley, Stuart Person, Steve Coppell

Nobody gives a stuff when the pgmol decided the title month ago the lot of them on Man city payrole
No mention of Celtic v Rangers? 🤯
If Man City end up winning the league, the critics will call it a “farmers league”. But none of the other top 5 leagues have gone down to the final game
Indeed. Super comment 💪
Last year the bundesliga went down to the final game and english fans still called it a "farmers league". If english fans have the right to do so in those circumstances then the rest of the world has the right to describe the PL as a "farmers league". End of story.
@@shakabrah3030 and how many season that bundesliga had to went down to the final match in the last 10 years?
@@shakabrah3030but Bayern were pretty bad, and still won it! Man City are probably going to need to win both games and get 91 points to beat Arsenal. Bayern won the league with 71 points. I know they play less games but it works out to 2.39 points per game for Man City, and just 2.08 for Bayern to win the league. And it was 10 or 11 in a row, wasn’t it? I can’t remember which. Not really the same
So it isn’t “end of story” if you step back and look at properly, instead of just superficially!
Dortmund had to win against mid table that had nothing to play for

@@scout79739 no but he can do his research and look back, and they've had bad teams since then too, the late 70s and mid 80s flirting with going down under big Ron, mid table under Fergie
My thoughts exactly. I respect Al and Gary but that statement is ridiculous.
United have been relegated in Alan's lifetime...
Alan was 4 when they were relegated. He does say it's "the worst he's SEEN in his lifetime". We're guessing he wasn't watching football at that point.
@@therestisfootball and seeing as it was televised it still makes no sense for him to make that statement. i wouldnt make a statement saying in my lifetime unless it referred to while i was alive...AND I'M WILLING TO BET ANY MONEY YOU WANT THAT HE SAW THE TV HIGHLIGHTS OF THE GAME OF MUFC V MAN CITY IN 74 WHEN THEY WERE RELEGATED!
@@therestisfootball City won the league the week before I was born back in the sixties, so technically I didn't see when we won the league. My first memories of football was United being relegated by Law's back heel goal and Stokes scoring for Southampton in the FA Cup Final, mainly because we teased United fans in the playground lol.

Congratulations to England on winning the EUROS this year. Never in doubt! Football is definitely and finally coming home. Don‘t even understand why we still have to play those games in Germany, as everything is so clear already.
😂😂😂
City will probably take this, arsenal bottled it with that Villa game. Id like to see some fun at the end, City losing to spurs but then arsenal losing their last game as well, that would be quite funny.
That is another possibility.
Forest are gonna stay up with 29 points! As a Spurs fan, any Gooner hoping for this team to do them a favour against City is in for a long night!
Come on Leeds MOT
I love how they say even if those players who are injured were fit they'd still be miles off. That is literally the most pathetic take. Arsenal lose Saliba and were a shambles at the end of last year. Rodri gets injured and city lose. Man Utd had their first choice RCB, LCB and LB plus all their backups missing. They then miss their most creative and influential player missing. Then their second most creative even if he's form has been shit. Literally had 1 fit striker this season. Wtf are these people. Injuries make a significant difference to every team. Even the best ones with the best squad. Considering that and considering the utd squad isn't the best that take is just mind blowing.
People saying Spurs have a big part to play in who wins the title, so do Liverpool. The next 2 games are dead rubbers for Liverpool, 3rd is theirs. If Villa win tonight then Spurs have nothing to play for against MC. But if Liverpool win or if it's a draw it opens the door for Spurs to get 4th. So MC fans will be hoping for a Liverpool win for once would think so they face a Spurs side who are already guaranteed 5th place.
Big fan from Cape Town South Africa!
Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different outcome is also the definition of training.
What? 🤨
@@Jimboslice35 Y'know, practice. Repeating something until you are able to do it. Same thing, again and again and, eventually, you get a different result.
@@dnldslvstr hmmm yeah good point actually man lol
Utd got relegated in 1974. Shearer & Lineker were around for that. I'd say that team were the worst since Busby left. This 'team' have the distinguished honour of worst Utd Premier League team and worst team post Ferguson, but Moyes did his best mind for those 7 months.
Hi there guys, another great show, but surely the Manchester United that got relegated back in the 70's where worse than this team, what do you think Gary, keep up the great shows, really enjoy them.
They're doing this for interaction. They know this team fully fit isn't bad. Yes there are some holes but playing pretty much all season with first choice options and often backups in key positions all year has a significant impact on a team. It's disingenuous to suggest otherwise. On one hand they're saying united have a poor squad and aren't able to cope with injuries. Then on another hand they say oh it's united the squad is good enough. No it isn't. Barely 16/17 top quality players
PEP NEEDS A WORLD CUP TO HIS NAME. HE SHOULD DO IT WITH ENGLAND
If he does he'll probably do it with spain with rodri being the talisman
😂
Watching the Man Utd golden boy get dogged by Saliba was a fun watch.
Back in your day Gary players were static as far as their position on the pitch was concerned, only a few exceptional players could play more than 1 position. Players today are a lot more flexible, I don't know whether it's a training thing or whether players today became flexible so they get on the teamsheet regardless if their preferred position is taken.
Southgate playing all of them??? 😂😂😂 no chance, more than likely to have 6 defenders in the squad
The worst Man United team just beat your Newcastle with half of their starters injured or missing.... what does that tell you?
Newcastle were sh*t?
we lose either way ㅠㅠ
As a Gooner, I saw sp*rs being a mere shadow of my team when we met. Poor defence and a predictable open game which was perfect for us. And it will be perfect for Man City. I really can't see sp*rs having the ammunition to overturn Man City, even if a top four spot is on the line. They got plastered by us and they'll in all likelihood get plastered by Man City. We should have beaten Aston Villa at home. Then we wouldn't be talking about sp*rs doing us a favour.
Not sure what game you watched lol y’all were fortunate to beat spurs. They got jobbed by the refs and gifted you goals with awful set piece defense. In open play you absolutely did not batter spurs.
It's unbelievably cringey to write Spurs in that way.
To be fair to Burnley, two of the loanees they had last season will be playing in a Champions League and Europa League final for their new sides. Those players were well out of place last season in the Championship and they just couldn't find replacements. Sheffield United had a similar issue, losing a couple of their better players. No sympathy for either side, they built rubbish teams and have paid the price. The bottom 3 are the worst for a long time and hopefully the worst that will be for another decade.
Not ten hag fan and he’s not up to the job but in fergie 4th season they finished lower - people forget how bad they were before prem league
Why people don’t see the repeated history after busby is beyond me … they need to stick with someone who has charisma, hunger and ability … I don’t think that’s ten Haag
How on earth is Micah Richards still on the payroll at city when he's constantly speaking about the gooners.
He'll go on swooning for five minutes over one arsenal player whilst having to tuck his boner in, and then says 'imagine arsenal winning the pl' and not city when talking about it going to the final day'. When he talks about city players he care's more about their fantasy points rather than how they're results, and he's still on the club/state's books!
fyi - basing this on since the pod started and not just this ep, but it does portray it very well...
One thing all three of you and other pundits get wrong, is all Man Utd injuries don’t count, no center pairing all season, off course it will heart the team. van Dijk missed one season, Liverpool ended fifth, Man Utd has had injuries all season, every center back has been injured, it’s not a but, is a fact. Liverpool lost 4 places for one van Dijk, United lost 5 places for 6 defenders
Whether you can accept it or not, the league has gotten boring since Liverpool’s drop off
Man United haven’t had a single world class player for at least 15 years. They are not a ‘top team’ any more
There isn’t anybody in the current squad capable of being one either. All the other teams in the top half, have better teams. When Man Utd were the top team, they only had one or two teams who were at their level. City are miles ahead, as are Liverpool and arsenal. Man United looking at their team, manager and tactics are lucky to be in the top 10. They are the new spurs. Used to be a big team, they won’t ever get back there again. They simply don’t recruit anybody who is decent, name the last person who came from a youth academy who wasn’t bought in, who was any good. The strength of local youth players in a world class team ended when cole/yorke played up front.
I think it's just lazy journalism talking about the gap between the Premier League and the Championship getting wider. Where was the talk last season about this when all three promoted sides stayed up? Far too many pundits and 'journalists' seem to suffer from medium term memory loss and just go for a quick shot without even thinking, then fans pick up on it and the story grows.
Amad was the best player on the pitch; It's one bad season every club in recent years has had a bad season barring City ....factor in injuries the comments are reactionary....
The young players at Utd will be fine.
Serie A is currently the most competitive league in Europe
Juventus
Inter
Milan
Napoli
Inter
we need to stop calling the Pemier League the best league in the world!!
You named inter twice, they’re 18 points clear, Napoli are 41 points off top, AC have 1 league title in 13years and Juventus haven’t had a sniff of the title in 4 years 🤨
No disrespect mate, I'm Italian and I support Inter Milan, but saying that Serie A is the most competitive league is Europe is being delusional. Our league lacks economical power therefore most of our best players are not staying once they reach their full potential because bigger clubs from England, Spain or Germany can pay them twice the money they get here. We are now a league like Ligue One or the Portuguese Premier League.
@@Jimboslice35 he was talking about who's won the league in the last few years instead of man city man city man city man city
@@Obiwandandobi how do you know what he was talking about?
Spurs fans will cheer everyone goal City score against them
4 minutes in and Gary has had nearly every finger up his nose already
All that waffle and not one mention of how criminally bad Casemiro, the Brazilian plodder was. And it's ok taking about the inexperience but they all still get paid week in week out - what a joke😂
What does getting paid have to go with experience? Are you arguing that no one can comment about anyone’s experience as soon as they sign a professional deal? How absurd.
Speaking on behalf of the majority of city fans, Micah Richards can be released of his ambassador duties. Poor advocate for the club.
I cannot stand peps' ass kissing. Dude just has the funds to fuck things up till it's right. Half a billion on defenders, that's not special managing, that's trial and error with no repercussions. And to say he didn't with center forward is just complete disrespect to Jesus and others there were there and pundits choose to forget for the "pEp Is ThE bESt" narrative.
with all this hype England are crashing out in quarters hahahaha
This united team was miles better than Alan's Newcastle team. Hard to listen to naive bs that's just out to criticize a team because they whooped your ass an uncountable times
When Liverpool or United get injuries the media talk as though they’re the only club it happens to. Chelsea have had significantly more injuries yet that is rarely used as mitigation for their struggles
I agree with the statement but the drop off in Chelsea bench isn't the worst. Maybe because their first team hasn't performed to their best or the bench has been for most of it been the first team playing but for the other two teams the drop-off in the quality when the first team is isn't playing is too much.
@mrigankshekhar7013 it's a huge drop off in some cases but for perspective-
Reece James (captain and arguably best player) - all season
Nkunku (key attacker) - pretty much all season
Fofana (key center back) - all season
Other players have also had spells our but there's a case Chelsea have missed 6 of their starting XI for at least three quarters of a season
@@rikachu571 Man United have had the most CB partnerships than any other club in top 5 leagues. They've been playing Jonny Evans and Maguire or even Casemiro as starting CB's. Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Malacia, Mount, Lindelof have all had long term injuries and have hardly played if not at all. They've been playing RB's at LB. CM's as CB'S and starting kids like Mainoo and Kambwala because of injuries.
