Holy. Fucking. Shit....... On behalf of all the people who are still hardcore kids who love this platform and love hip hop as much as hardcore. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Now you gotta get Roger ;) Love and respect to DMS. HARDCORE PRIDE.
Fuck yeh boys! I don’t know how I missed this but white trash Rob and Ezec are two of my favorite no jumper interviews as well incendiary 🙌🙏 2023 we out here!!!
He's being mad humble. Much respect due to this man. Met him a few times and he is one of the realest in the scene. He paved many roads. I read Roger's book My Riot and Freddy been through a lot. BIG SALUTE to a GOAT.
New York was just built different back then. Seeing AF, Sick of it All and Madball (not to mention one of the most underrated NYHC band Subzero) all on one show was a defining moment in my life as a kid. All three of those bands have had an insane level of work ethic and dedication to their scene and culture. If there is Mt. Rushmore of hardcore specifically NY they gotta be on there
My name is Mike Dietz. I lived with Roger, Harley, and John, Frenchie, Billy Psycho,Tony Dust,Steve Skitzo, and Carl in the C squat at 713 E 9th st between C and D. That entire neighborhood was a battle ground and extremely dangerous after dark. I met Freddy when he was a little kid and to this day. Madball is my favorite band and always will be. Right with AF . I don't know if you touched on this in the interview but. Do you know what Madball means. What Madball is? Back in the early 80s we were all kids and if you left the building at night. You had better have a deadly weapon on you because chances were that you're gonna need it. So our weapon of choice was a Que Ball in a sock. A Madball..Dead ass..
Adam knows the deal and put in his time…Respect to him for using his platform to represent this underground street culture and music to the world. Our culture is imitated and stolen by the mainstream daily. But our world is 100% real. We don’t fake it, we just take it.
I started going to hardcore shows in the mid-90's so I can't tell you how much Madball meant to us growing up. In fact I have *CANT STOP WONT STOP* on top of my chest piece. Freddie is the realest of the real and a true OG. Mad love and respect for this dude.
Freddy is a G, I love Madball. What a absolute legend. Met him and Hoya years back at a show. One of my favorite bands of all time. Thanks for this interview 🙏 🙌 ❤.
Awesome u got madball. Next u gotta interview with the singer from e town concrete. That’d be a good fit for the show with their rap and hardcore influences
Thank you for reminding me..100 Demons!!! Putting on ‘In the eyes of the lord’,, soon as this interview is over! I haven’t thought of them in a while…got the album too!
Freddy and the band on the Sunshine Coast Queensland Australia in 97 still one of the best days of my life. I was 17 and fuck it was one of the best days ever and I still rep madball to this day. Hardcore till I’m dead and buried . Thanks for this pod cast no jumper🤘🤘🤘🤘.
Saw Madball when I was 11 I’m 22 now craziest fucken show to date I’ve been to my brothers took me to the show in SF was so packed that they moved me behind the VIP gates for my safety…..still didn’t stop me from stage diving!😎 all in all legendary interview def need more like these🔥
I was raised on DC Hardcore, from Minor Threat to Fugazi, Rites of Spring to Dag Nasty. But Madball always had a place in my heart and always will. I'm the same age as Freddy, as much as I'm guilty of lumping them in with 'tough guy' Hardcore, their lyrics and musical style kind of kept them apart in my mind. Great interview. Hold It Down was a great great record. I listen to it often.
One of the coolest interviews I've seen. I deep dived into a lot of hardcore history in the past and have always found the origins of Madball to be interesting. Freddy is a true legend!
Very cool to see Freddy on this platform!...what I always loved about NY Hardcore is how accesible these guys are. There is no "im the artist and your the fan"mentality... You can walk right up and start kickin' it with these dudes. Been a fan for 30 years and these are some of the hardest working, most humble, down to earth people you will meet. Mad respect for Freddy and guys like him that have helped carry the torch all these years. Salute.
NICE!!! Thank you, Adam, for doing this. My younger brothers and I are all old school anti-racist skinheads from DC. We grew up in the DC area and hung out w/ bands like Madball, Agnostic Front, Sheer Terror, etc. Shout out to my brother Scott Ebanks and, of course, Freddy and the entire DMS and LES crews. Un fuerte abrazo, Freddy!
Thanks Adam. We really appreciate this. I know it can be difficult to step into other content that may not gain the huge view count. This content is super important and I'm glad you are willing to shine your light on the HC culture and legends.
Freddy is the best hardcore frontman of all tine. He was literally BORN to do this. I saw Madball just last night and he's as on form in 2023 as he was when I first saw them 30 (!!) years ago.
I remember meeting Freddy at CB"s at a benefit for his brother, maybe 1989 -1990. He was with Vinny Stigma and they were selling their first 7 inch. I listened to it that night and didn't think much of it. Not in a million years did I think Madball would become what it still is today. I have the utmost respect for the work this guy and everyone in the band, past & present. Their work ethic is legendary if u ask me. I've seen them countless times and at 52 I still bump them in my headphones today. Respect.
A lot of people don't understand the roots of hardcore punk, especially in NY, DC, and Boston. Lots of wild-west type shit happened and the stories of the people who were there and blazed the trail for a vibrant music scene need to be told to a wider audience on a regular basis. Hardcore, punk, and Oi! gave me a reason and a purpose, and people like Freddy and Vinnie and Raybeez and so many others made it all happen and opened so many doors for countless people and bands. Hell, Vinnie stigma even helped me one time and charmed some cops to get them to stop harassing me at a show one time many years ago. It's music for people who need a place and once you're in there's a wonderful empowerment and it can take you as far as you need to go.
Please Adam keep doing more hxc interviews a lot of respect for this man there is a lot of us hxc kids out here that really appreciate you using your platform for this man this was one of the realest interviews 💯💯💯
I was part of the scene back in the '90s shout out to Joe hardcore. Also a big shout out to NYC and the NYC HC crew. There was the '80s hardcore generation that started it and then there was the 90s people who held it up I kind of fell right across the middle
Damn. I remember seeing Freddy at “Sunday Matinee” at CB’s. He wasn’t even a teenager yet. The “Superbowl of Hardcore” used to be held in the dead of winter. Miss those days!!!
Man this was great …I was raised by madball n WUTANG …. This interview gave me that feeling they were talking about haha … love that Adam is covering these legends of our culture 👏👏👏👏
Never expected this... I see through bitter eyes and The fact still remains I read between your lies You got beat at your own game Take a trip with me for soon I will sin Without one regret The pain will begin

I cant like this enough. Freddy is a legend, much respect to Adam for having him on there. Bring hardcore to the mainstream. Hardcore still lives! Matter of fact its bigger than ever.
Great interview. Freddy is such a good dude. We had the opportunity to play some shows with Madball almost 20 years ago and all those guys were great to hang with. Definitely legendary in the scene.
As a protein was judged by several of my peers for mixing the 2 cultures of music together just being open minded but it was the MTV generation so to me it made sense and so glad that we've made it all the way to this point that Podcast have actually opened up people's minds to actually branching out and understanding artist as a whole
Freddy is a legend, and obviously Adam22 on some borderline snitchery can't help but ask about "crazy fight stories" and it's good that Freddy just shut that down right away.
Madball became a next generation of hardcore at the time. They got called that "tough guy" band but they offered so much respect to friends and family and the scene. They carried a positive message through the heavy style. Much respect to Freddy and the boys for keeping the energy an unity of true hardcore alive.
The night before Freddy had to turn himself into prison his parole officer let him come to jersey to perform “guilty by association” with H2O. We talked to him in the parking lot after ward and he pulled up his sweatpants leg and showed us his ankle monitor! Freddy talked to every kid in that parking lot! He’s a great dude! He absolutely stole the show, that one song he did had the building almost torn down. Was really happy when him and Hoya put the band back together when he got out of prison!
SALUTE MUCH RESPECT DAMN shout out to Freddy Mad Ball/DMS good to see you on No Jumper I remember the video done that wouldn't be played on/by MTV WOW FRENCHY I miss superbowl hardcore I love the GROWTH This was 🔥🔥🔥💯

Of all the people to be on this thing…wasn’t expecting to stumble on this. Pretty sick move even though most people probably have no idea about Madball and how awesome these dudes are.
This is the sickest comment. The fact that you just see him as a rapper is super cool. He's a legend in new york hardcore punk and it's fucking awesome to see that you like his rap stuff he does just because he loves it!

Dude, seeing AF in some busted up bunker like venue in NYC was one of the best memories I have. Was sketchy as hell at the time though.
