He’s not the kind of guy who’d want people to be sad. I love my life vicariously through him daily he taught me a lot of what I know today Rip James Have a cold one for me brother!!
I remember watching this on AMTV (When MTV aired music still at 6 am) when it first released and it was so inspirationally punk that I based my hairstyle off of the bassist's, whose hair was in front of his eyes. So I gelled my hair straight down to cover my eyes like his. Looking at the yearbook pictures I chuckle a little, but it was what I thought was cool. And it takes me back to this memory of having that hairstyle and my current events teacher actually making fun of me in front of the whole class, and he said "what are you gonna tell your kids when they look back on it?" And I said to him and the whole class "I did exactly what I wanted to do." Everyone in the class was speechless. He took that as "whoa this guy is untamed, we need to fix him" while I actually meant in terms of doing what I thought was cool. Not what other people's definition of cool is, but doing what you like and think is cool. Which is actually the formula of how to be cool lol. The staff eventually gave me an ultimatum of expulsion or a haircut, which was super petty, but on par for how these "adults" were acting.

"Deep in the jungle camouflaged by all the fallen leaves, a hand holds up the sky while shamefully I make my plea" That lyric is pure genius. When one first listens to it, they might be fooled into thinking that it's the leaves themselves that are the source of camouflage for the "hand holding up the sky" when, in fact, it's the lack of leaves on the trees that allow the tree branches to resemble "hands" and therefore make the human hand being held up in the air less noticeable. This is hinted at by the fact that the leaves are already "fallen" and that they aren't "falling" presently.
I randomly bought this disk while in Best Buy many years ago. Popped it into my cd player and never looked back. Instantly fell in love with them. This song for whatever reason was my favorite. I belt it out everytime I hear it (my voice sucks😂)

thats electric guitar bro
Nick E You know, I began to think that after I posted that comment and listened to the song again. Electric with no amplification.
The mix contains both. The acoustics are panned farther, but there's at least 4 guitars at any given moment in the song, not including the bass track.

I don't like it when a band goes mainstream because in a way they lose their true form and skills and turn to what the media looks as good.

Tonight, I'll have a look and try to find my face again
Buried beneath this house, my spirit screams and dies again
Out back, a monster wears a cloak of Persian leather

Blanket of silence makes me want to sink my teeth in deep
Burn all the evidence of fabricated disbelief
Pull back the curtains, took a look into your eyes
My tongue has now become a platform for your lies

A hand holds up the sky while, shamefully, I make my plea
The altar's calling, but my legs won't seem to stand
