- Get your self comfortable, maybe cup of tea or if you prefer a beer and enjoy watching making The Djembe. Last djembe I have made is 16 years ago. I can't remember exactly but I think I could produce 10 - 13 Djembes. Some of them are with my friends and some of them where sold. You know when you are young, some money came back to fund tools and other fun things in life. I haven't touched carving tools since 2002. Recently I made friends with cool guy who is working with wood as well. We have been challenging our selves to make our own Didgeridoo. So we did. I have good few of them. But one day other friend asked me "do you need a deer skin / hide" I was like. Well, if its gonna be wasted, then yes. And it started. The idea of making The Djembe cos I already have the dear skin. And whats even special, its of albino dear. It was animal with white hair. That makes it very special. So All I had to do is finding the log. Well, I found a log of pine tree which probably was laying there around for 2 years. The rot under the bark had caused some demage. I kept the maximum of size for head, only one section was so bad I had to treat it with epoxy. Its a petty, but I worked with what was available. So, you gonna see and hear that at the end its not affecting the final look and sound. I added some recording from first session in the park. When I left home it was tuned to H note 3rd octave, after an hour of playing outside 7 Celsius degrees, it went to A note. I couldn't be happier about the drum. Its an another master peace in my collection. I am gonna enjoy playing it.
