- We went back to Watchet Station after lunch and videoed three more trains which were firstly a double header, GWR 7828 with 7812, then 2999 and finally the southern loco Taw Valley.
Everything looked scrubbed up specially for the gala. Very enjoyable!
Yes the cleaners did a fine job!
Nice birthday treat for me cheers Mike😊

Hi Mike. What a Tremendous brilliant Bank holiday I had. Seen the flying Scotsman twice through worle. It was packed! Then yesterday’we was at Bishops Lideard….. and saw Lady of Legend? Is it? And Tawvalley! Which was huge!!!!!! Unfortunately never got to see her when she was purple 4 the jubilee last year! But thought she looked stunning in Black. We stayed at Lideard a few hours & enjoyed what the station had to offer. Unfortunately they had completely sold out of pasties which was disappointing. Love a good Cornish pastie! & crisps. So we made do with the crisps! And a drink. I did look out 4 you & Val as well! My real names Liz. So u know who Iam if we should bump into each other anywhere. Shall be uploading soon
Oh That's great Liz. I had quite forgotten your name after you changed your channel name to Bright Box. I am sure you will have great video to share with us later. We have plans to travel on the train today to Bishops Lydeard (fingers crossed, the state of my cancer permitting) when it shouldn't be so busy'.
So it's a GWR theme with Southern steamy Taw Valley mixed in. I wasn't aware that Taw Valley would visit the WSR, I only knew Erlestoke Manor was attending.
Pitchford Hall was due to come, making it an all GWR event, but couldn't at last minute, so Taw Valley was a last minute substitute.
Loved it as usual Mike and Val ... loved going along the backstreets of Watchet... brings back happy memories ...
Is that Taw Valley loco a 3 cylinder type ? It had an irregular beat to the exhaust ... could you find out ?
Thanks Janina. Any replies welcome to the question.
@@ADMIRALSCORNER okay ... let's see if anyone else noticed it !
@@janinapalmer8368 Yes, I have discovered Taw Valley is a three cylinder design.
@@ADMIRALSCORNER...... Well done ... I thought it was a 3 cyl loco ... they have an unmistakable sound to those who have " ears to hear " lol 😂
We have a classic 3 cylinder loco here ... ( Google NSW D57 Class..5711 is the only remaining example ) it was built in 1929 !! It's a Gresley design using compound coupling linkage to operate the middle cylinder . A 3 cyl loco is the train equivalent of a 6 cyl car versus a 4 cyl one .. much greater torque ...
You are so right .... model trains 00 gauge especially, definitely is a rich persons hobby . My dad was a very keen model railway enthusiast... he built a gigantic layout in the roof space ... it was all lined sealed and even heated !! He spent over £ 5000 on his setup ...
@@janinapalmer8368 I bet that was impressive! I hope it still exists.
