Wow! Thank you so much! For putting your knowledge out for us, i really appreciate, it has helped put alot of things into perspective, and one important thing i have learned from this is that farming is not for those who are in a hurry, especially planting trees, one day i will visit your farm for more advice and information when am ready, i hope you are open for visits and consultations?!
Great work sir. helping to keep Zambia green and clean. Also keeping us informed I wish to visit your farm wen i come to Zambia this year to learn more about Eucalyptus. Kindly put me on the list for this year as am greatly inspired by your content. Thanks
I'm glad to hear that. The 2023/24 rain season has been as bad as most people can remember. Our president declared a state on National Disaster this week. Hopefully, that translates into actual action.
Marvellous work and so inspiring. congratulations on your success so far. Look forward to seeing your progress. I have some casuarinas in my land; one of the reasons I planted them was that they are nitrogen fixers, as are acasias. However, the acacias are now a problem as they send out roots, which become trees, up to 10mtrs away to get water from other plants. So, in my garden, they are now a great problem. I strongly recommend not to plant acacias in gardens! Obviously, on your vast farm area they are fine.
Hi there. Not a problem. Our commercial trees are grown for: Pine is a softwood is mostly useful in construction Eucalyptus trunks become utility poles or fence posts Casuarina has many uses including a mixture of the two.
I have loved this, actually Iam passionate about this and did on a small scale, the challenge is where to get quality, early maturity seed, please advise
Yes, Winterthorn Farm is not on mains power yet, so we have to pump all our water woth solar. The high pressure is achieved by pumping the water into reservoirs up on the hills and letting it come down.
first year i tried growing pines from seeds i failed 100perect. i managed to germinate about 80percent or more but all of them died from 1to 8month period. now is the 2nd year iam trying it with different soil and different watering technique.
Good question. There are a number of people that sell tree seeds and advertise on Facebook groups for this topic. But we don't really recommend doing your own seedlings unless you are doing at a real scale (5,000 and above).
Hi there. Thanks for getting in touch. We would love to help, but find ourselves very busy with our normal work and duties. You can imagine how many requests we get every week, and if we accommodate all, we would have challenges in meeting our work deliverables and targets. I decided to help other farmers through the UA-cam videos we do, which take a lot of time and effort. For now, that is all we can offer. I advise you to keep reaching out to other farmers like you have done here. One thing I would highly recommend is to work closely and consult with experts in your country. That often requires taking time to visit projects on the ground and making calls. Wishing you the best in your farming.
I love your reaction towards the dried ones

This might sound like a dumb question, but what do you do with the trees when they are grown? What is the purpose? What is it used for?
Hi there. Not a problem.
Our commercial trees are grown for:
Pine is a softwood is mostly useful in construction
Eucalyptus trunks become utility poles or fence posts
Casuarina has many uses including a mixture of the two.
I have loved this, actually Iam passionate about this and did on a small scale, the challenge is where to get quality, early maturity seed, please advise
Yes, getting hold of good tree seed can be a challenge. We suffered from bad seed the other year.
Try Forestry Dept.
@@mondofarms4343 very useful information. Where did you source your seeds from??
Awesome!
Glad you think so!
Woooow I'm following up
Great
Great lessons here, how many poles and sq m of netting did you use please for 800m2
Tough question. You will get guidance on how to design and build a shadehouse and go from there.
Inspired, for irrigation do you use solar? I have noticed you have very high pressure
Yes, Winterthorn Farm is not on mains power yet, so we have to pump all our water woth solar.
The high pressure is achieved by pumping the water into reservoirs up on the hills and letting it come down.
Where is the reliable source for pine and eucalyptus seeds?
There are quite a number advertised on Facebook and other social media.
first year i tried growing pines from seeds i failed 100perect. i managed to germinate about 80percent or more but all of them died from 1to 8month period. now is the 2nd year iam trying it with different soil and different watering technique.
Yoh. Keep pushing.
Where can I find good seeds within Lusaka?
Good question. There are a number of people that sell tree seeds and advertise on Facebook groups for this topic.
But we don't really recommend doing your own seedlings unless you are doing at a real scale (5,000 and above).
How many years does it take for the trees to mature?
We mention things like that a lot in the other videos about our tree project. Pls have a watch of them.
Thanks for the advice I really appreciate and I enjoyed your program
How can I get more information about this project and how can I get yr contact

Good evening, do you sell your seedlings, if so, at what price?
Yes. We will be selling some pine and eucalyptus seedlings. Still putting the plans and pricing together.
What is the specific species name of the casuarina please ?
Gosh. I wish I knew. The seeds we grew that year were from an informal source, who didn't have that kind of detail.
We're can I get seed for pine
Pine and other tree seedlings are readily available. I see a lot of people advertising them on Facebook.
All the best.
