  • We're currently in the process of experimenting with Valspar Trade Gloss, a water-based paint, alongside a water-based primer designed to prevent knots from bleeding through. Our focus is on observing the application process and assessing the visual outcome after applying a few coats.
Our objective is to closely monitor the application of these paints, paying attention to how smoothly they go on surfaces and their overall coverage. We'll also be examining the final appearance of the painted areas, taking note of any changes in color, texture, and finish as multiple coats are applied.
This evaluation will help us gain valuable insights into the performance and quality of Valspar Trade Gloss and the associated primer. Our findings will contribute to our decision-making process when it comes to selecting the right paint products for our projects.

What were his thoughts when he saw it?
An off white/cream colour may be better... But gloss level still.isnt there is it.

Had the misfortune to use valspar emulsion 2 years ago, even when using the almost unbeatable toupret tx110, after filling old walls etc, when he came to using said paint every single bit of flashed, grinned, had to pretty much zinsser all walls before applying more valspar, in the end went and got it colour matched in Johnstones, never, ever again, would rather walk than use that again, take care u bunch of toshers 😂❤

you tried bedec all primer Phil sounds good around £70 for 5l knowing bedec probably be better than zinsser aqua bin. I think the only thing more annoying than paints needed multiple coats is customers none of them understand recoat times they all think you can knock another coat on after a hour oil paints just blows their mind they don't understand 1 coat a day they think your'll trying to riddle more dosh out of their hand

I'm it's very good. It not for knots tho..but with it there's now no need to use the aqua primer

Hi Phil, used valspar oil based back in seventies the finishes always looked as though it lacked body and would grin. Always looked as though it had been let down. Not tried this in the wb.

Awful stuff. I used the gold pot gear on a customers living room (obviously they supplied) and after 7 coats on the feature wall i had to give up and leave. Had the misfortune to buy a 2.5 litre white vm because i had the same vouchers as Mike and it was like piss. Absolutely no opacity, no flow and pulled on itself terrible. Had to sand it back and go over it with Isomat Premium. If Valspar want to compete for the supply of trade then they need to do alot better than this. Unless they get it like Ben Moore, I'll never use it again. If customer insists, I'll walk.
