18' "when vilain fold more to 3b,we 3b less for thin value and therefore we put some hand of the 3b range into the calling range.
Then the calling range is stronger and we can call slightly wider at the bottom of the range because those weaker hands are slightly more protected."
Something I don't understand:if we got a hand let's says EV -0.02 to call,is this EV change if we add more strong hands to our calling range, let's say can it goes up to 0.00 or more because of the protection of strong hands?
Cause if EV still stay -0.02 I don't understand why we should call with it,because by definition it's loosing money

I grind the low-limits for a living. I have a GTO opening range, but I throw it away against maniacs. I just limp with the top of my range, and jam them preflop with hands that i know they will call, or shove it in, because they don't like being treated this way. It's boring. But very profitable. I played a $1,000 pot at 1-3 NL recently where all the money wasin pre-flop, i had AK, he had Td5d. I'm printing money here by getting it in, the outcome is irrelevant. I put in $500, but am a 60-40 favorite, meaning that I win $100 on average over time because he plays so bad. In the hand in question, he made 2-pair and I lost, but that is irrelevant. He was dominating the table, but the nits took all of his money, he lost a large amount of it, and left with his tail between his legs. I love maniacs. Will sit with them any time.

My strategy against maniacs is usually along the lines of, pickup QQ, re-raise, get jammed on, call and lose to J4 off suit, when they make the eventual full house.

What if we know that he might fold some weak hands if we cr, like gurshot, overcards OTF, but OTT he will always double barrel big with them and even call off hands like gutshot and weak FD, every pair, etc... I think this could change our flop strategy on semi-dynamic boards to just call OTF and check/jam his pot size or overbets OTT or even continue calling if we know he will jam everything OTR.
Against maniacs it's a good idea to slowplay sometimes. Like never 4bet against a maniac. If we show aggresion and strenght we might make him play more correctly rather than just calling and him punting his stack away.
Those sims might be on point, but they don't calculate that first our opponent might start to change his strategy once we exploit hime a couple of times and he will start to adjust which will make our play very loosing. Also it does not take into account equity on future streets where our opponent might have bigger mistakes.

The other day I got involved in a 4bet pot with a LAG where I 4bet him with AQo (never do this against most live opponents because their 3b range is usually too nutty).
Flop was paired + a brick and checked through, turn was another brick, he checked to me again, I stabbed small and he ripped. I thought for a while about his image and his past showdowns. I flicked in the calling chip and he said I was good. I told him to table his hand and he revealed 64s for 6 high against my A high. River came a 4 but at least it was a good fight back attempt 🥲

I would argue that a live 4 bet range from a maniac is still a lot of suited and high cards. They just play them like aces which means calling with a wider range that is more robust than theirs😅
