- An 8-year-old girl died after being found in a hot car in west Charlotte on Wednesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said.
CMPD officers responded to a call to assist Medic on Wilkinson Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found an 8-year-old girl in critical condition inside the car. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The child's mother, 36-year-old Ashlee Stallings, was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse by willful act causing serious injury. She is currently being held in the Mecklenburg County jail. Court records show Stallings was given a $250,000 bond on Thursday.

What’s sad is the suggestion of putting your purse or phone in the back seat so you will check back there. Damn!!!! Your child doesn’t trigger you to look back there but a phone or purse will. WTH has this world come to!?!?!😢

When I was 8 I would have got out of the car, even if I had to break a window with the Swiss Army knife that would have been in my pocket.
Wow don't you dare blame a child. How disgusting of you. A lot of kids are taught to be super reliant on adults especially nowadats. She was probably neglected and not taught any life skills. A child like this is more likely to fear getting out because of punishment. Parents are supposed to protect their children and this mother failed.
