  • This is the number one reason that prematurely kills lead acid golf cart batteries. If you purchase a golf cart from a dealer and they are not using a dc converter on the entire pack then they are setting you up for a revisit in the near future to replace your golf cart batteries.

    A dc converter is one good solution. Another one is install 48V headlights like I did on mine. And if you have lithium batteries install a battery balancer.

    I’m a women without any golf cart background but I won an amazing dynamic golf cart at a work party, lucky me! That was nearly 2 years ago and now my cart won’t start because of the batteries…I really need some help reviving them 🙁

    If I can give any advice as someone who’s been a tech for 20 years. Throw out that 5 dollar meter. God bless.

    THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS! ❤

    Can you make a video about taking a standard lead acid no DC DC converter cart and all the batteries and adding a DC to DC converter

      I was about to add a dc converter to a cart with lead acid batteries to flip and I will do that. Its completely the same as a lithium but if you are a visual learner like myself then I can do that.

      @fentertainment does have a video showing the 48v to 12vc dc converter (blue box) install. If you go back into his videos you should be able to find it. How do I know?? Well i bought a cart that had no converter and killed two batteries and within a few months my batteries were trashed. Used his video to instal the converter and worked like a charm!!

    Can you show how to do the DC converter

    Dude, the pack is almost dead already. You should always be fully charged before testing. Each battery should be around 8.8v

      I just picked this cart up “non running”. Just checking the voltage but I understand what you mean.

    Good vid. U should explain that ur trying to run 12vdc accessories, off of the 48vdc main buss. Obviously the ghetto method is just grab power from 2 batteries in series, the reasons not to do this are numerous. It should also be noted that a regulated buck converter w diode protection should be used and only need to be rated to supply the accessories not to power the motor(s).

      And with an inline relay so it’s only powered when the key switch is on and not all the time.

    6x6=36! NOT a 48v system!

    • @Fentertainment
      @Fentertainment  4 місяці тому +11

      6x8=48v. Each battery has 4 white caps on the top of them. If they were 6v batteries they would only have 3.

    • @TrapperAaron
      @TrapperAaron 4 місяці тому +1

      Each cap (or hole under a main cap) goes to a seperate cell. Each cell produces about 1.5-2vdc. Ur typical auto battery will have 6 holes usually in 2 banks of 3 cells. I assume he's talking about running 12vdc accessories, and tapping off of just 2 batteries instead of taking power off the main 48vdc buss and usuing a regulated dc buck circut to power the 12vdc accessories.

    • @Fentertainment
      @Fentertainment  4 місяці тому +6

      @@TrapperAaron most people will run 12v accessories off 2 8v batteries in a golf cart in series. It’s only 16v and that’s only 1.2more volts than an automotive alternative puts out. It’s works but it will damage those 2 batteries quicker than running a $15 dc converter on the entire pack.

      Imagine being this dumbass OP and getting humiliated because he doesn't know how a battery works.
