NOTE: This month a few NEW makeup collections that should have been released were not. I've been e-mailed to ask why. In the UK/EU at the end of March - NO NEW COSMETICS (this also includes hair products etc...) CAN BE SOLD THAT HAVE BEEN TESTED ON ANIMALS, USED INGREDIENTS THAT HAVE BEEN TESTED ON ANIMALS OR USED THIRD PARTY TESTING ANY FINISHED OR UNFINISHED PRODUCT.
This is great news for those of us that care about animal rights.
Trying to get info from the major companies is posing a problem. I would imagine that the UK/EU will be get getting LESS new collations until they sort themselves out. This is a wonderful step in the right direction for the UK/EU and hopefully soon the US and elsewhere will follow suit. I hope this helps those wondering why we are seeing a reduction in the amount of NEW COLLECTIONS from major makeup lines.
BLUSH FOR YOUR SKIN TONE
I wanted to keep this video VERY UNSPECIFIC. There are not rules in makeup. Do whatever makes you happy. You don't really need to know brands, whats HOT whats NOT. You just need to think colour. What colour will i look best in? What would make me happy? What colour makes me look great?
Think colour - sod the brands. Once a product is on your face no one knows if its Chanel, NARS, MAC or YSL.
If you know any great drug store brands that do great blushers for light/medium/deep skin tones please share. Leave a message in the comments seconds which blush you like best for your skin tone.
Pale/Light skin:
Think pink. Any pink. Fuchsia. Red. True reds.
Careful with overly peach shades that have too much orange in them. Can look muddy and orange on the skin.
Medium/Deep (deep tan) Skin:
Pink. Browny pinks. Reds. Fuchsia. Tawny. Apricot. Raspberry.
Deep skin:
Gold. Reds. Fuchsia. Deep Apricot. Burnt orange (my fav). Deep raspberry. Using a blush with shimmer in can make a huge difference when looking for extra dimension or if your skin gets ashy at times.
Universal shades:
Red. Fuchsia. Anything bright and shocking. Just use them with a light hand.

I love the way Nars names their products. "deep throat", "orgasm" etc. Seems that they want you to blush naturally too just by reading the names
deep throat we know the freak of the company named that one lol
@Irina Ivanova I dont even remember watching this video or making this comment lol. Wow!!! how time flies sheesh 5 yrs ago.
I love how you take us women of color into consideration--not only that but you acknowledge the wide range of skin color, I really appreciate that (because here everyone is just trying to be white and it just looks so so so wrong)
Agreed. Also, on more Mediterranean coloured women we can go through quite the colour change when the sun hits us.
Exactly! He is wonderful for taking all in consideration!!
+Sofia A, he really is!
+shirehorse91 I'm Mediterranean but really pale
So a white person isn’t a person of color? They’re just bland and colorless? You realize that “person of color” is the same thing as “colored person” which you politically correct assholes have deemed to be racist, right?
hey goss could you do a video on colours that suit cooler skin tones and warmer skin tones please? thank you!
"stay away from any blush with purple in it"
*holds up purple blush*
+Lindee Gailee. I know, right?
+Lindee Gailee Haha! I noticed that too! I would say it is kind of purple. I think he meant those really hot/vibrant purples. I love when people with deeper tones wear purple blush though, but only when it is applied lightly. But I don't know too much about blush. xD
Lindee Gailee , That's a berry shade, not purple. I buy a lot of berry shades but would never buy anything near purple.
+Linda Gail Billmann I think he's bulshitting everything that he says! haha
i thought the same thing! maybe he means more cool toned purples? the one he held up was a warm toned purple
I'm sorry... I just find the names of some of these colors to be a bit... Porno? It's hilarious! Can you imagine your grandma asking you what blush you wear and you tell her: "Oh, it's DEEPTHROAT by NARS." Hopefully, her heart is still good...
lol
I was shocked too when I saw this video. I don't know wtf is wrong with nars. I can image their team naming their products: hey let's go to pornhub to look for ideas!
I thought you were fucking kidding when you said "deep throat".. and then he holds it up. WTF?! lol
Hahah, I find it genious, because the names actually make you *blush* xD.
Thank God saying the name to grandma or someone is something I don't need to worry about because I don't plan on getting any Nars blush :)
Came to change my username - can't think of one. N
Arghhhh. I visited your channel for just a SINGLE video... 2 hours later, I'm still watching them!
Let me go to bed already!!
Can I just take a moment and say just how wonderful it is how you always remind us to do whatever makes us happy when it comes to make-up! Yes, there are trends, styles and guidelines that many - including myself like to follow at times, And there are other times when we do just as you say and do whatever makes us happy! Thank you for reminding the beauty community that it's not always about having the perfect this or the perfect that - It can be as simple as whatever makes someone smile! XOXO
Wow...Nars are really "original" and creative with the name of their products! Orgasm, super orgasm, desir...DEEPTHROAT?!!!! Really?!!!!^^ No, but seriously, can you imagine the CEO at their final marketing reunion agreeing that "Ho yeah! Those are super cool names! Love it! What's the color of the Fistf*ck blush, again?!" ^^
Could easily replace the Kabuki brush name^^
I was wondering the same thing for so many years now! lol :D I kind of love names like that, they get stuck in my head, I don't forget these products easily just because of the names, so nice work CEO! xD
riiiiiight?
I got a receipt for the orgasm shade in a multi stick and it read "multiple orgasm"
I just spent almost three hours watching the majority of your videos and would just like to say, you are a seriously amazing make up artist. You're so creative and the techniques are so great and helpful!
Thank you very muchly!
i just binge watch all of his videos.
He's so good, and ;probably the best makeup artist on UA-cam, especially at informing his viewers of the best way to apply makeup.
Thank you for always including all skin tones when recommending products. It's one of the things I've noticed most about your videos, and I appreciate it greatly. Thank you
That "brick red" looks pure bright orange.
definitely not something I would use
jessicamaes94 Only on camera. Cameras have a habit of making bright reds look orange.
ok
Just use a light hand - you may like the result
"woman of color with a lighter complexion" ah~ I don't know why this comment satisfied me so much xD
hiyana Y possibly because it's true
Because some do have a lighter skin tone , like Mariah Carey, Beyonce or Lisa Bonate
Moon child I thought she was half black
@@josiekoerner5345 Her dad is black and Venezuelan.
ummmm I'm a woc with light skin??
I LOVE that you comment on ALL complexions!
You are honestly my favorite MUA on UA-cam. I've learned so much from you!
Wayne Goss...you seriously rock..love love love your videos! 😘
Btw you are a lovely looking man. And very knowledgable. Live your attention to varying complexions. And it is sad how difficult it is to find foundations. I am a medium to light black woman witg yellow/orange undertones and you'd think it wouldnt be too difficult but it is. I ALWAYS end up with two liquid foundations that I have to blend
I always get so excited about watching another of your videos because I know EXACTLY that I'm about to see decent ideas! You're fabulous! I also like your philosophy behind your videos because you still leave it up to your viewers to decide what they're happy with instead of narrowing it all down to your own preferences; instead you still have great advice for everyone.
Please keep up what you're doing, you're a gem!
I love how you talk about both dark and light skin tones, as I can never find videos or tips for dark skin tones! Love your channel:)
What about light-medium skin tones? I am always in between colors, not an ivory but not a beige either. I am hispanic but am not super pale or super tan either. Can I get some help on picking up a color that would suite me best? I have light yellow undertones as well.
Thank u so much. I wish u demonstrated them on different skin colors, for us to see. Love from Dubai.
I have light to medium skin tone with slight yellow undertone. I find Nars Amour works super well. It's highly pigmented, as you said so it's very versatile. You can use a very small bit for a no makeup, sun kissed very natural look, or more for a more "going out on the town" kinda look. It's matte for more mature skin and very pretty. You rock Wayne. xxx
Your skin is looking great! Your videos are so informative, yet always straight to the point, love it!
I'm fairly new to makeup but do the Nars names sound a bit sexual O_o
For all pale girls:
Try Shiseido Blush in Petal, its such a great colour.
Thanks @gossmakeupartist you realy help me with my blush-wishlist ^^
4 years later and still turning to you for makeup advice!!
Congrats on video #500 Wayne!!! Thank you for this very useful information, no one else ever made such a specific breakdown on skin colour and blusher that suits them. You rock!
I know right!
Loved this vid!!! So helpful. Being a tan/not deep skin tone Latina is hard for me to fit on either/or category. Is always a struggle, I'm not fair skinned nor deep, and medium seems too fair also. Anyways. Thanks for the tip.

I have nothing but love for this guy; could watch and listen all day
I love that you don't leave anyone out when it comes to skin color, type, everything. you want to help
U ARE AMAZING AND MY ROLE MODEL, I WANNA BE A SENSATIONAL MAKEUP ARTIST LIKE U ONE DAYYY :D
Why don't you go into undertones? I find corals look best on my even though I'm very light skinned because I also have very strong warm undertones. Pink don't often look good on me.
I agree! I'm fairrrr but have yellow undertones. I feel so many people on UA-cam just say like "oh this looks great on fair skin" no. It depends on the undertone. Pinks don't look good on me. I definitely look better with peaches and corals.
+Katie Rose Me too. Even if I have strongly pink undertone, orange suits me the best, because it doesn't accentuate the pink that is already there. (even a bit too much pink)
+Katie Rose When someone says "this will look good on fair skin tones" they generally mean because it's a light/sheer colour, which will show up better on fair skin - nothing to do with the undertone
Hey the same case is with me pink doesnt look gppd on me at all ..I am thinking about buying nar madly or luster.
You can make most blushers work for you if you use a light hand and build the colour to where you want it. You can use more blusher shade as well.
Goss, have to say i learned all i know about makeup from you. keep them coming, youre a delight to Watch!
Hey Wayne! I've been off work ill for over a week and discovering your videos has kept me entertained and taught me loads! you're my fave. x
Where does light olive skin fall? I look better in corals than pinks but I wouldn't say I'm medium to tan....little confused would love you opinion:-) Thank you!
+Hawaii I really like light rasberry pink on olive skin tones. But that's just my opinion. :)
Hawaii you can go for Wayne's recommendations on Mediterranean skin.
I know this is an older video, but THANK YOU for being White (I hate saying Caucasian because Caucasian is actually pale Middle Eastern, but I digress) but realizing that Black women (or 'ebony skin', as you call it) are not just chocolate!! We run the gamut of skin tones from pale like a waffle to honey to caramel to chocolate to dark coffee to true ebony and blue black. Black women actually tend to have more of a variety of skin tones, in my opinion.
Wth pale middle eastern?
+rasha mokhbat Like the Western part of the region termed the "Middle East" where the people are paler. I don't really know the difference between Persians and Arabs, so I don't know if the people I'm thinking of are Persian. But people who are actually near the Caucus Mountains are the true Caucasians, not Anglo Europeans.
Yes you make an important point LovelyLooker122 but you fail to recognize that within every race (brown, white, asian (including brown), etc..)there is a range of tones - not to mention mixed race even; If Wayne Goss mentioned every sub category this video would not be a video, but a film! He is giving general guidelines - you are supposed to figure out what works for you.
LovelyLooker122 but you do realize white isn't only Anglo European, and even the pale Arabs like Syrians and Lebanese people have blue eyes, blonde hair, etc..,"White" refers to a person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East or North Africa.
LovelyLooker122 for example the dusky skin or dark skin saudis are not white, Arabs can also be dark skin African, they can be Mediterranean northwest African, they can be like the Lebanese and Syrian people, Arab is just a group of people who speak Arabic and share certain cultural aspects.
Hi wayne
Just love the way u explain and totally trust in u..
Ur description of products-is like a prescription of medicine-which we never a second thought before buying them..😍😍
I have fair, NC15 skin, and I find that NYX eyeshadow in Violet, applied with a light hand, makes a lovely blush!
Oasis is fab on olive skin (source: me)
He said to stay away from blushes with purple coloring then holds up one lol. Regardless, still love his commitment to helping others look their best
He held up Nars blushes which aren't blue based. Rather, they are reds.
I love your videos and this one has not disappointed! It was really informative, as was the information you put in the description box - thanks! I really appreciate that you focus on the colour and the actual product rather than brands etc.
You stand out amongst youtube make up gurus/artists and I hope you continue doing youtube for a very long time :)
Great video!! I actually bought outlaw before I watched your video and liked torrid too. So glad you mentioned that they match my skin best. I am pleased I can identify what make up can suit my skin.
I am super pale (like wall pale) but with yellow undertones and i look just awful with light pinky blushes. A few times while using them people even asked me what went wrong with my makeup that day o_O
But when I wear corally tones I get compliments all the time.
Undertone matters a lot! If you a light skin with pink undertones these suggestions might work well, but for yellowish skin tone it's a bit meh...
Still liked this video a lot for the all the variation showcased!
Same here 😭
same here... I have more of a neutral skin tone though, neutral undertones, not pink not yellow, but something in between... which is really frustrating! my best kind of blush would be something between the pink one and the apricot/coral one, which is so hard to find!! :(
Same
I'm super pale but yellowtoned, so pale pinky colours rarely loog good on me. I prefer peach and apricot colours
Sophie Kvistad me too like melba from mac
That makes sense. Pink tone fair is pinks. Neutral fair is peach & pinks, your fair yellow tone
I had to stop the video a few seconds in just to stay that your skin looks amazing! You get better looking every video. Luv u
I watched this video yesterday. Today I got a tan and decided to go out and by new blush. This video was super, super helpful. You are always on point Wayne!
That awkward moment when you are biracial and don't know if you're a "medium" or "dark" ^^
panfulolli27 I am biracial too. For me, I am a little closer to medium, but a little on the darker side. I reccommend going to a makeup counter and have them match you to a color. I went to MAC Cosmetics and they matched me to Medium Deep. I hope this helps!(:
+panfulolli27 Right!? I'm biracial and I'm like a pale yellow. Lol! But in summer when I tan, I turn like a really dark coppery or like a burnt sienna color. What do I dooooo!?
I am biracial as well. I am medium on the darker side.
panfulolli27 depends who is labelling you. I've leewnt in white people world I'm tan. in whole range I'm medium!
panfulolli27 amen! but I'm medium and would be considered Olive but I cool toned!!!
is benefit dandelion blush good for pale skin?
Ffion Jeffreys I am very fair.. freckles and red hair. this blush is my go to.. very natural..
Bacon Moore i bought it the other week. it was quite out of my price range considering i'm still a teenager and most of my makeup is from the drugstore but i really like it. it smells amazing, its the only blush thats ever suited me, the packaging's lovely and i love the brush that comes with it.
Ffion Jeffreys yes
You're awesome! I love all the info you give rather than just show us "this is what i do"
I am a huge fan of you and your work! Still catching videos from last year as I get so much from your information and I try to look at everything. I have very light skin with pink undertones, so I really enjoyed hearing about blush colors...all those that I have used I completely agree with your advice. Wonderful recommendations!! Keep em' coming!!!
When Nars choose their names most of the time they must be really... yeah...
All I want is wayne goss's mind to be my siri, and when I ask " is this the right shade wayne? " Then you'd tell me yes or no T.T
Thank you so much Wayne! I have been trying to figure this out for a while and was extremly excited to see this in my subscription box!
Wayne: thanks so much for the time and effort you put into this tutorial. I'm in the tan-dark tan range, but my baby sister has a much deeper skin tone than me and lots of things that look great on me don't work for her. This has given me a ton of ideas for blushes to pick up for her as presents. Thanks so much for making sure that all the skin tones from a-z get included in your videos. :-)
Hah those names :)
Why would anyone want to look sun burnt? Curious about that. Also, Nars? Some of those names are just tacky. Just my opinion on that, though. I love the Torrid. Oasis, and Outlaw. They would look fantastic on my medium skin and the bronzing idea for Oasis is something I will try. Great post.
Thank you for giving us exact colors for various skin tones. I've always wanted more color (I'm VERY FAIR) but haven't had much success until recently, thanks to recommendations from tutorials like this...
i forgot to mention how much i love you and both channels!
This is not completely right for black women. We can wear so many colors because we come in so many shades.
And I'm amazed that white people tend to think black women don't or shouldn't wear PINK. I'm saying this because almost every list made by a white person excludes pinks for black women.
We DO wear...and look GREAT in pink y'all. lol. Really, we look great in just about everything except extremely light colors which tend to look ashy on us.
Uhm, black people are both cool and warm in their skintone just like white people are. So, some black people look great in pink blushes (they with cool tone) and some look better with orangey blushes (they with warm tone)
I love colors that POP on my dark girlfriend's skin: purple, orange, pink!!! BOOM!!! Wayne said "have fun". I agree 😘
demeatrist during most of his videos he says basically do whatever you want, take his words with a grain of salt. You know what you like. Go for it
can you add women to your tutorials so that we can relate to what you are saying and actually see the results?
Thank you!! I have been searching on google and youtube looking for information like this but never came across with anything helpful until now. Great info!!!
I love watching your videos. You're so talented and knowledgeable. And you don't try to BS. I really appreciate that.
I LOVE your videos and especially your honesty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love that you keep it real!!!
Sleek, elf studio, and milani baked blush are all awesome drugstore products esp their blusher
I have been loving the blush from the new line Flower. It goes on soooo smooth & even. The texture starts as a creme but feels almost like a power. The best part, its only about 8 dollars. I've been a Tarte creme junkie, but this has been my go to blush!
This post was indeed helpful. I personally am loving Bourjois Baked blushes. They are so easy to blend and can be built up and have the right amount of shimmer. Sleek blushes are also good. Love the pigmentation.
I do not think there were so many things to say about the makeup!
I am blown away by the number of videos: all of these tips, tricks and tutorials are amazing and so well explained! thanks and kisses from Paris^^
you description box aaaaah - heaven!!!!!!! thanks for such an amazing work!!!!!! so much effort!!!! xx
i love how your videos are straight to the point 😊
i love your background! it looks very professional!
You are simply the bet. Never stop sharing with us.
I LOVE the E.L.F. Studio Blushes!! They're very pigmented, blend well & look beautiful on, a great product for only $3. My favorite color is Pink Passion which is a hot pink that looks a little scary bright in the package but amazing on skin. I like to layer it over bronzer in summer, gives you the "just back from the beach" look. Also great on brunettes with paler skin in the winter.
Your videos are always so interesting and everything you put in the description bar !! thanks again !! tell us about your skin though ....
I'm addicted to you. Seriously I watch you then practice then watch you again. Love you Wayne.
I love the way you cater for every skin colour, thanks so much x
your videos are always so helpful!! thank you :)
You seem so much happier and more expressive nowadays than you did in this video
I love that you recommend blush for all skin tones from porcelain to ebony.
Finally someone that addresses every single skin tone🙌🙌🙌. Thank you!!
Haven't got to watch this yet, but it does amaze me when all the beauty gurues mix up their blush choice on a daily basis...pink, peach, dark, light... anxious to watch this video!
So so helpful as usual. Thank you Goss
I absolutely LOVE your videos! There is so much great information on products, tips/tricks, how to's, etc. Thanks so much for all the knowledge! It's especially nice not having to sit thru an extra 10minutes of repetitive nonsense or mindless gab. You are truly inspiring!
i love you!! you're honestly the best make up artist here on youtube.. i never hesitate on taking your advise. Keep up with the awesome work! xxx
Another really helpful vid Wayne thanks....like how you say those interesting names of the blushes so casually lol
Thanks for talking about ALL skin tones ! I often feel left out! As always YOU ROCK WAYNE!
You would have to be the best makeup artist out there!! You're freaking amazing!
Love your advice: pick a color you like and go with it. Made me laugh and remember that makeup is supposed to be fun. Thank you!
Love your work Wayne.Love from Australia!
Queen you are stunning! You did a Amazing Work😖
I love the Sleek blushes, great pigments, great price and great range of colour
Thank you so much I have an olive skin and I was having a hard time finding a blush that I like, since I'm tired of the peach shades.
Same here I have a deeper skin tone and lace works well for me. Great Video Wayne!
Hi Wayne, I have medium skin tone and have just ordered online Torrid and Gilda on a whim without any swatching. I am so glad that you have recommend these colours for my skin tone. This video is so helpful. thanks you !
I have fare to medium skin. I ADORE how revlon lipbutter in juici papaya works as a dewy finish blusher! Great advice Wayne. Love from Spain!
Your skin looks so good these days!! X
you are actually my FAVOURITE person in the world.
I'm really light and deep throat looks killer in the summer when I've got a bit of a tan! Absolutely love!
i love your vids, they are very educational and elaborate which is very useful
