@@thesaj1110 I keep geting asked this, I really should make a video about it all. it's an excellent guitar. It's honestly my favorite right now among about 30 that I have. I know I use it a lot for metal on these videos, but my daily needs are geared more toward much safer tones. funk, fuzz, not hard driven. Stuff for jingles, commercials etc... 9 times out of 10 I'll reach for this and get something that works great right away. Its rare that I have to search and end up with a different guitar, but it happens.
It looks awesome, plays great, and has almost every feature I've wanted on a guitar for about a decade. 24 frets, direct mounted pickups, the fishmans are my preferred pickup now. When I compare them against seymours, dimarzios, emgs, lungrens, etc, they have less resonant notches and peaks, if that makes any sense. the flatter curve makes them work better for more things. The evertune is really mind blowing. it's awesome for someone like me who does nothing but record rhythms and layers all day long. These videos are a silly outlet for me to be honest. because I don't get to unleash.
In the interest of being balanced and honest, I feel I have to include the cons as well.
I have 2 minor gripes with the guitar, and a bonus gripe. They are small issues though. One, I like fretboard markers. I'm a fretboard gazer, and I find myself lost without them sometimes. it has side dots, so I've adjusted my viewing preference, but it still gets me sometimes. usually during more technical stuff. Two, the kill switch is not my thing. I want it to be more responsive, but that doesnt matter, because I don't use it anyway. Bonus gripe - while the Evertune is amazing technology, and I think any guitar player that records should have at least one guitar outfitted with one, I was expecting something more "perfect". After the romance wore off, I started thinking that it's a design that can be improved, but it beats playing a guitar in standard tuning with 12s and 13s for tuning stability, which I did for years. overall, I'm damned impressed and I think its kind of hard to beat it on looks, playability, options, and overall tone.
I wish it cost a little bit less, but my buddy said "Yeah? well did you know that the Strandbergs are made in the same factory? Nobody complains that those cost 1000$ more." and I had absolutely nothing to say after that.
Hope that helps. Let me know what you decide to do :)
