God bless Kentucky and the victims of that storm. We are far too familiar with that kind of tragedy here is South Louisiana. Yall will be back stronger and better than ever.
Really enjoy your videos and get a lot out of them. I have never had bourbon before as a sipper and was looking at trying it as a alternative to wine. I say that cause my wife loves a good wine, I just don’t like it and I don’t like beer either. I enjoy different rums in a mixed cocktail. My wife loves the “hand sanitizer” that you speak of (vodka). So I went and bought a few different bourbons 2 months ago and then I got the “C” flu. Nothing bad but lost my taste and smell. So won’t be trying my bourbons until my senses come back, whenever that is. But thanks again for all the informative videos and will be watching more. 👍👍
I really feel for those that have lost everything.
We lost everything in the first wave of California wildfires back in October 2017. We "moved back in" last year but are still not 100% rebuilt after 4+ years. Unfortunately the real battle (with insurance companies) is about to begin for these folks 😕.
You're doing a great thing by helping these people out 👍
I have a Elijah Craig 18 and a signed (by both the distiller and owner) of the first release of Kentucky Peerless’ Bourbon. I’m in NY though. How can I do this?
Great review on a great whiskey. Wild Turkey makes great whiskey. Hats off for helping with the relief effort in Kentucky. Merry Christmas!
Can't wait for Whiskeys of the year 2021 !!!!!
Fred, good review and notes. I passed since local store had at 265. So enjoying my first Driftless Glen bourbon & rye and a Wilderness Trail rye picks instead. Cheers and Happy Holidays!!
Wish I saw this around me at $265. I'd buy as many as I could at that price!
I applaud your compassion and efforts for the KY families in need….while I don’t live there anymore I graduated high school in Mayfield and College in Bowling Green. These communities need prayers and help! I am continuously amazed by the bourbon community!
Huge shout out to the victims of the tornadoes. In my thoughts and prayers. As a meteorologist I love these storms but I hate the destruction and the ruin that they can exact on communities and lives.
Marzipan.....gotta admire a guy who knows his marzipan. 👊🏻
Note plating this buy as I type
$300 aus though. We get smashed with taxes here
Fred. I'm new to sipping and appreciating whiskey. Where do these flavors come from? How is it possible? I understand tasting Oak, corn, charcoal etc, but how does vanilla or molasses show up?
Welcome to whiskey!!! So it varies by category, brand and house style. But grains and yeast, fermentation, distillation technique and proofing water all make impacts on flavor. But biggest contributor is the new charred oak barrel. Imagine meat broiled vs being smoked. The flavor from the wood is astonishing in barbecue. Same for whiskey. My book Bourbon Curious goes into great detail
@@FredMinnick Thanks! It's very fun and interesting. I've found your content to be honest and forthright from what I can discern.
Well, I'm not a rich man, but I'll hit your auction. If I get outbid on everything, the cash goes to the fund. I'm really proud of you and the entire bourbon industry for doing this. May God bless you all. Gratitude.
If I join the auction....can we ship to Canada
Wish the common man could experience whiskeys like this.
I liked this video as he told me about the auction and the fact people are raising money to help those in need. Love it.
I found that this bottle really opens up after a couple weeks. If you like it now, just you wait! Leave it to WT to nail it on their first toasted bourbon!
Such a huge Turkey fan. Been trying to find a pour of this.
One thing I don’t understand - and I am trying to understand - is how/why the experts mention so many things. Can’t be wrong when so many things are mentioned and then us normal humans may taste something different. Peach, peach cobbler, sweetness, butter scotch, hazelnut, maple syrup, apricot, nutmeg, pepper. Do the pros really taste this much in a bourbon? Serious question.
Listen Folks. Lets All Pray for those Effected By That which has hurt our fellow Americans!
It's delicious but 2 noted. Butterscotch and tobacco. What it does it does well, but all the notes you listed aren't present with anyone in my whiskey group.
Fred, while I am certain the quality is there, could you comment on the value (for the price)...The Mash and Drum review, which I agree with, says this is highly overpriced for the quality.
This auction yeah the same 5 heavy hitters will be at this auction and no scoop everything up Well at least the money is going to go to a good cause but if you think you're gonna get a better bottle because more is out there you just don't have the money to compete with these heavy hitters
The enjoyment was shown on first sip by your eyebrows. I think you went to heaven for a second.
Are
My eyebrows my tell?
Sad to say I’ve not had any Wild Turkey in over 20 years.
Do they batch these bottlings? Maybe my sample was a bad bottle but sat for an hour with it and the nose had a funky caramel cherry with a light woodsy note. Palate is VERY subdued. Holding it on my tongue for a while brought out a great flavor hit including a sweet Turkey cinnamon that's really enjoyable. Finish felt tannic at the start but is more of a mouth numbing effect now with a whisper of nutmeg. Definitely has gotten better as it has sat out.
I wish there was more toast influence. I think Russell's Reserve 13 was more of an experience overall. Not worth the msrp of $175. And I tried it again a month later, also a bummer.
Agreed, it's solid, opens up. But RR13 was the truth
Kentuxican is the best hot sauce period! 💯🔥🔥
I've heard mixed reviews on this (some are blown away and some say meh, but I think the Meh people have no idea what they are talking about) but I had an opportunity to buy at retail, so naturally I went for it. Sounds like a keeper to me.
Tasting is so subjective. You gotta go with what you like. Not what others do.
My heart and prayers go out to all the victims of that horrific tragedy
I passed this up at $175. Wasn’t sure it’d be worth it to me. Maybe that was a mistake….
Passing @ retail? Yeah mistake
Big mistake lol
Pray for victims of natural disasters every nite they need the power of the Holy Spirit to help them cope with their individual issues and by the way you can’t go wrong with any turkey products RTR
I want this bottle so bad!
