Ren videos are not as set in stone as many may believe. He seems to adore when reasons and items are given different meanings then he had in his own head. Same as when a person hits the nail on the head for an item or concept. He tucks little "easter eggs" in many videos. This one he said, when they went to film it the setup set his imagination into a high gear and many "easter eggs" were last minute excitement inspirations. All that I can honestly be sure of is: Its a 1-take start to finish video in a buddy's apartment, using plants gathered from the streets, and that all in the video were friends and friends of friends, who agreed to help out. He does reference many movies and books in his songs. But so far never answers why the reoccuring pig, is in some of them.
This is such an intricate production (production, lyrics, visuals) all the way to the simplest snare hit and bass drop exactly 1 second apart referencing the tick tock of a clock "A Clockwork Orange" and his inspiration for the character in the video, Alex DeLarge and it all ties in to Animal Farm and Alex DeLarge's treatment while under state rehabilitation. This is just unreal how detailed it gets.
You're right about having to re-watch the video in order to pick up on what may have been missed the first time. There seems to be a LOT of symbolism in this set; for what purpose, I am not sure yet. Ren's mind is at levels that many folks won't be able to comprehend, but he can package the experience in a way that keeps them intrigued. I've said it before, and I'll likely say it many more times, I love this rabbit-hole we call "Ren"! 💯🔥
On the back wall towards the beginning there's a whole manifesto - I think it's from the book, Animal Farm. The first lines, "2 Legs Bad, 4 Legs Good" definitely are: it's a repeated slogan throughout the book. (Animal Farm is a thinly disguised - and funny - political diatribe against capitalism: the animals rebel against humans: their ideal is peace, equality and no war.)
He actually lists all 7 of the Commandments on the wall. At the end of the book the last commandment - "All animals are equal" is changed to All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others"
My favorite part was "Mary had a little lamb, whose flece was white as snow. It made the blood look so much redder, when i slit it's throat. Watch it drip drop drip drop, till the ground was soaked. Oh Mary Mary quite contrary, how the blood it flows" 😎ANIMAL FLOW
In the novel animal farm by George Orwell , The animals rise up And take over. Four legs good, two legs bad. A classical must read. Orwell criticizes communism as well as the Turn to Stalinism. The pigs being the smartest of the 4 legged creatures We're in charge. I believe the clockwork orange reference, Needs to be researched further Before commenting on that connect. Lots Happening in a Too small 3 minute Experience.
And now this week, Ren released acoustic version of Animal Flow. Please check it out. Amazing & such a surprise. I couldn't figure out how he could do this acoustically but it is incredibly great too.
I thought you might enjoy this. From Ren’s own words on making this video: “Filming Animal Flow. Let me set the scene. It’s a cold gloomy British February. A great start to any tale. I’d been sitting on this track Animal Flow for about a month, it has this tribal rolling drum sound, reminiscent of early Kanye production (you’re allowed to say his name again now he said sorry after watching 21 Jump Street) I’ve got this annoying problem where if I’ve created something challenging to create the next thing has to be even more challenging to pull off. We’d just finished filming a series of one take videos for the Sick Boi album, they were a bitch to film, because if anything goes wrong in a shot with only one continuous take all the way through, you have to start again. I love that challenge. It forces me into the moment, you have to be engaging for the entire piece. If a tiny thing goes wrong you have to start again. I sadistically really enjoy the frustration of the entire crew when we shout CUT and have to start the whole bloody thing again. Their little faces sinking into despair fills me with a little warm fuzzy feeling inside every time. “FROM THE TOP! ACTION!” I decided I wanted to make the most ambitious one take video yet. Throw in as many moving parts and as many people into the mix as I could, and even add a little dance choreography. This was before my music had ‘taken off’ and I’d just left my current management, I was pretty broke, so I also had to pull this off with no money. That made it even more exciting. My friend Benny had this apartment that he bought off my Spanish friend Raffa. The parties in this flat were pretty legendary and appropriately full of debauchery. The hallway to the apartment looked like something out of a Kubrick film, and I instantly knew I had to film there. I kept thinking of the movie Eyes Wide Shut. I turned to Benny one afternoon and asked what he thought about me turning his apartment into a jungle. He smiled, he agreed. Me, Benny and a few friends headed out into a cold February night in the early hours of the morning dressed in black, with some gardening shears, a hatchet, and some bin bags. We spent hours hacking at overhanging weeds, ivy, whatever we could find, filling up bin bags. What I didn’t know, but found out during the Texas plant-saw massacre is that Benny used to be a botanist. He told me the Latin names for each of the plants we mercilessly shoved inside the bin bags. What we definitely didn’t do for legal reasons was borrow some unusual looking exotic plants from a botanical garden at 1am. We returned to the apartment and spent the remainder of the night Covering the walls in plants. Ivy - or to use its Latin name - Hedera Hibernica - looks great parcel taped to a white wall. We then created a makeshift torture rack out of a clothes rail, painted the bathroom in faux blood, and filled the bathtub with red jelly, naturally. The whole apartment took a few days to totally transform into a magic mushroom Orwellian fever dream, it was perfect. I had acquired about 80 latex animal masks and a gorilla suit from amazon, and acquired about 80 friends and friends of friends insane enough to agree to take part in the shoot. What ensued was hours of pure chaos, an apartment hall littered in people in latex animal masks while horrified looking neighbours walked nervously passed. You’d walk out into the hallway and see a man in a wedding dress with an ostrich mask riding a lowrider BMX over the carpet. Walk into another room and people in Dog masks playing poker were doing shots of tequila and smoking menthol cigarettes. Everything was going exactly as I intended Somehow, during the chaos, we managed to film a music video. Sure it was about 4am when we got the final take, and we’d started filming at about 7pm, but that’s not the point, we got the shot. My friends left, scarred and broken shells of who they used to be, and I left with one hell of a music video.”
@Jon your right I believe it’s a reference to the George Orwell animal farm as well even the two pigs can’t remember their name! Ren is such a deep/dark thinker love his music!
This is based on quite a few different influences...the animals and the 7 lines of text at the start of the video are from animal farm (George Orwell) as are the dogs playing poker...tl;dr animals in the book unite because they are better than the 2 legs (humans) but by the end of the book they have become what they despised...and nothing separates them.
Absolute genius..... Ren sees where things are going. Not long kiddies. Animal Farm is a beast fable, in the form of a satirical allegorical novella, by George Orwell, first published in England on 17 August 1945.
Cant wait for you all to do Ren - Losing it... and Genesis .. Both those got some sick lyrics in it.. and the beat in both those .. just like any other video he does.. beyond amazing.
You should check out his tunes with Eden Nash (Ocean and Humble), they're yet another completely different version of Ren, more of a chilled / reggae vibe, and personally my favourite.
Enjoy watching your reactions to all ‘Rens pockets’, as there are many! By now you surely know this piece wrapped it’s head around Animal Farm. It’s simply Brilliant,…as Ren is
Thank you for these. I've become a huge Ren fan since I discovered Hi Ren in January this year. I have been able to be a bit kinder to myself after understanding that I'm always going to have good days and bad and have stopped stressing so much when life throws me lemons. The conversations he's started have made me feel like I'm not the only one struggling and I'm learning to accept that life is like a pendulum and the more you fight the symptoms and get upset about not feeling well the worse things get. My ADHD got really bad a few years ago and I'm not exactly sure why and I'm often frustrated that my brain wont play ball and allow me to create and plan. I'm still trying to work things out much like Ren so it's interesting to see his journey.
This video is crazy with all the different characters and movement from room to room. ITS a FREAKING ONE TAKE!!!!! So many things had to go perfectly to get the final shot. Amazing!
As a linguistic and ontological student, interpreting the aphorism "embrace a little madness, because the sane die young" requires considering both its semantic content and the deeper existential implications it carries. At face value, this phrase appears to advocate for an unconventional approach to life, suggesting that strictly adhering to societal norms of 'sanity' can limit one's life experiences and, metaphorically, cause an early 'death' of the spirit. It champions the idea that a degree of 'madness,' or deviation from societal expectations, can lead to a richer, longer, and more fulfilling life. The phrase carries intriguing existential and ontological implications. 'Madness' here could represent the individual's authenticity, a notion central to existentialist philosophy, particularly in the works of Jean-Paul Sartre and Martin Heidegger. Authenticity, in this context, refers to living in accordance with one's true self, regardless of societal norms or expectations. In this light, 'madness' can be seen as an embrace of one's authentic self, which may not align with societal norms of sanity. 'Sanity' could be interpreted as conformity or living inauthentically, which existentialists argue can lead to a form of spiritual or existential 'death' - a disconnection from one's own being and a life unfulfilled. The aphorism also resonates with Friedrich Nietzsche's idea of the 'Dionysian' spirit, a form of madness that he viewed as a necessary counterpoint to the 'Apollonian' order and reason. Nietzsche believed that embracing this 'Dionysian' madness could lead to profound creativity and vitality. Therefore, as an ontological philosopher, I would interpret "embrace a little madness, as the sane die young" as a call to live authentically and celebrate the parts of ourselves that do not fit neatly into societal norms. It is a reminder that the 'sanity' of conformity can lead to a form of existential death, while 'madness' - understood as authenticity, creativity, and non-conformity - can enrich and extend our life experiences.
That dance (very Michael Jackson Thriller or Lady Gaga had version too) is going to be hot! I can see stadiums of people doing this in unison during this song.
I love when I set a notification that I get 4 day's later? Weird. Also noticed that video's that I've watched have a 👎 on them? I've noticed it two different channels and I would NEVER I'd leave it blank before negative. Sorry mini rant about weirdness LOL 👍👍❤️👍👍
I think you guys should also do Money Game Pt1 and Pt2 by Ren. That would tie in nicely with the videos you have watched thus far. I would also say that Sick Boi is a type of prequel to Hi Ren; but that's just my opinion though. Love the reaction guys; keep em coming.
This entire video is a combo of Stanley Kubrick flim style in Clockwork Orange, fused with George Orwell's book Animal Farm where the animals revolt against the humans. it's F'n crrazy good!🐷🦁🐯🐷🤣
George Orwell's "Animal Farm" - perhaps that is what he is trying to bring across- I saw lots of littles things from that perspective in this video Much love guys!
Lyrics, beats, film direction all him all one take 🤯. If you have to do other ren reactions.. "losing it" and "what you want". But heres other songs where he goes off as well
I think he is paying tribute to cult film classics ..Animal Farm being the main theme based with scenes from these classics like The Shining (girl on bike in hallway) Witches of Eastwick ( 3 girls around Rens feet ) A clockwork orange ( dressed in white with a cane ) Silence of the Lambs ( cannibal stair scene with lamb ) the chocolate factory (the beat ) Wind in the willows and creature from the black lagoon ( bathroom scene toad and creature in bath ) All cult classical movies.. Im sure there are more .. this is a piece of art ..nice reaction
This video is also low budget, he ordered the masks from Amazon, cut the plants from street, shot it in one of his friends apartment, one take only if you noticed. He is genius If u want more of rapper Ren see hunger, sick boy, genesis, bittersweet symphony, life is funny, love music 1,2 and 3 Cheers ✌️
Bro I deff wanna see you two react to adam Calhoun, upchurch and jellyroll. Adam Calhoun- racism, cannon, starter cap, hooligan, Upchurch and jellyrolll any songs you want
This is inspired by Orwell’s “Animal Farm” where the animals uprise against the humans. You can see the 7 commandments from the book written on the wall at the first of the video. I also believe he’s also relating it to how the government treats us like animals, hence the bit about burning parliament down. The “Mary Had a little lamb” part could be a metaphor for most of us being “sheep”, being led blindly.
How have you not checked out illest of our time. I'm sure you'll get to it. O by the way new follower. We need geniuses, loosing it, and money game 1 and 2
Buckle up!!! Ren has more layers than an onion! More Bars than a prison! Think if Eminem, Shakespeare, Bob Marley, and Jimi Hendrix had a Baby... That's Ren!!! Suggest Hunger, Losing it, Chaulk Outlines, Crutch, Life Is Funny, Money Games, Hold On, Love Story pt3, Bittersweet Symphony, What you Want and Fire, etc.... (Cannot find a bad track! Very few are the same style/genre!) Of Course... Jenny and Screech Tales (Full version!) Are a Must!!!
5:53 "because politicians burn quite easily wow." Because they're on the Highway to hell. They'll burn easily. 🔥 bars the whole song I nuts. It's animal farm where 4 legs good 2 legs bad. Watch knox hills breakdown reaction I love these reactions too. He explains the fuuuuuck out of his reactions which Is why I fuck with him. Ren likes knox a lot too. Ren has reacted to knox reactions twice The first time was on rens birthday when he released illest of our time
For a combination of great songwriting, singing, guitar playing, bars and collaboration, I suggest "Humble," with Eden Nash. It's at the top of my very long Ren list of favorites.
my boy is fresh, upfront and different, and he is putting into music his feelings and thoughts #Ren (i think this track is a nod to Animal Farm and Stanley Kubrick)
Hey my brothers, lol one likes Ren's singing the other rapping. I can satisfy you both because this has him doing both. Ren - Humble (Feat. Eden Nash) song has Ska vibes ua-cam.com/video/PO9UC2Zt59c/v-deo.html Ren ft. Eden Nash - Ocean(Lyrics) chorus has bluesy southern coast feel ua-cam.com/video/PMKbv7CzPHE/v-deo.html "The Money Game part 2" commentary on corporate greed and gov corruption ua-cam.com/video/YonS9_QJbp8/v-deo.html Ren - Love Music Part 3 the chorus has 1930 cuban jazz vibe ua-cam.com/video/OjElKx6q2Wc/v-deo.html Ren - Dominoes ua-cam.com/video/bbbjWEnC3Gc/v-deo.html

Wow nice observation for sure , now I have to go back and watch it 10 more times😂
Got most of them missed the Charlie and the chocolate factory
@@shawnmayhew8481 The beat is Black Skinhead not Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 😂 yeah it's definitely Animal Farm, George Orwell though
Brilliant observation
I think the ending was the usual suspects, the limp with the cane.
yum yum yum yum yum
Thank you for reacting to Ren again 🙏
If you want ear him rap rap I sugest you: "The Hunger" , "Losing it" and "Life is Funny".
Thx you for information
@hanninencraig They did already.
Genesis one of his best for flows, another great one-take vid too 👌
@@stuartfraser8060 I dunno man, he goes pretty hard in Love Music (any of the 3 parts)...
Same with Ocean. He changes his voice so much you can’t tell it’s him. Sounds like a bunch of different voices.
Animal Farm meets Eyes Wide Shut. Awesome!

im a big fan of Ren but i feel this is a L. Not up to his usual standards
It’s a masterpiece. It’s that simple
Single camera shot again. Unreal. Lots of vibes, Clockwork Orange, Animal Farm, ...

"he's doing something different, as usual" is a great way to describe Ren haha
That dogs scene IS inspired by the painting! Great reaction again!
The beat is from Black Skinhead, the theme is primarily George Orwell's Animal Farm.

Im sure there are more .. this is a piece of art ..nice reaction
i like how baked they are
This video is also low budget, he ordered the masks from Amazon, cut the plants from street, shot it in one of his friends apartment, one take only if you noticed. He is genius
If u want more of rapper Ren see hunger, sick boy, genesis, bittersweet symphony, life is funny, love music 1,2 and 3
Cheers ✌️

Upchurch and jellyrolll any songs you want
Losing It by Ren goes hard. ❤😊
No cuts no edits... thats so crazy
Very few are the same style/genre!)
Of Course... Jenny and Screech Tales (Full version!) Are a Must!!!

For a combination of great songwriting, singing, guitar playing, bars and collaboration, I suggest "Humble," with Eden Nash. It's at the top of my very long Ren list of favorites.
Great reaction to Animal Flow, btw!
Pink Floyd meets Ren on the Animal Farm.
my boy is fresh, upfront and different, and he is putting into music his feelings and thoughts #Ren (i think this track is a nod to Animal Farm and Stanley Kubrick)
