Out of all the UA-camrs I watch on Final Fantasy seven continent. You are the one with the most similar reactions to my own. This remake pierces me to my core. Every time I see one of these videos it's always a tear to my eye. I simply cannot stand it. The same way I felt watching the opening 20 + years ago when I played this for the first time. They've managed to recreate all those same feelings. In so much more detail. I know games have looked good for a while. But I truly believe that Final Fantasy 7 remake will continue the Final Fantasy tradition of upping the bar as far as quality of games go. This will be something that everything else is compared to.

Oh man. Watching this Intro while I was playing the Demo a few years ago where I didn't know much about the game was a meh reaction but I still liked how it looked. But now? Now that I'm playing the Original and seen just so much... It's just Onions man!
Seeing those cliffs hit me hard :( The music also hit me hard, the soundtracks to FF7 and FFX led me to want to write music for games which is where I am now! All because of a few beautiful people who decided to develop an amazing franchise!
I was 17 years old when I played FF7 back in 1997. It was amazing back then but seeing this remade is like going back to my younger years. I can't believe I am 40 now. I think most of the original gamers who played this when it was new has to be around late 30's or 40's as well lol.

I played this game on the original PSX back when I was 14 years old. It blew my mind. It is the game of my life. Even my nickname in real life is "Seph". I've played the remake, and also saw your gameplay videos. To me, the remake is PERFECT in all senses. Everything is like in my dreams. I'm so happy they did it. Now, waiting the part 2.

I've been playing this game since I was 10. I am now 31 years old. I have been waiting for this for damn near 21 years. I'm so happy to see other people exited for this. I'm so glad I got to watch you play the remake and just enjoy the story, characters and music the way you did. With the advent of youtube and social media, those who were once made fun of as nerds/social pariahs for enjoying story driven games are now accepted. I'm 33 now, my wife who I now have 3 kids to in 2.5 years (we were busy) has played the original because I showed her your part 1 reaction to FFVII. She's not advanced enough to play the remake but LOVES the canon. Thank you for that. Women are made to think gaming is a "mans" world in my generation. You helped change that. She's beaten FFVII and has almost 300 hours in Stardew Valley (kill me). She can now experience stories in a whole new way that she never got the chance. To see her be the main character for the fist time? Golden. P.S. Play Suikoden I and Suikoden II, you'll thank me later.
The thing that amazes me to no end is how smooth the transitions are from what we've been shown of this game between cutscenes and gameplay. For instance, we saw in the E3 trailer that after this opening movie plays the camera simply pans around Cloud and we're in control fighting enemies. Also, during the first boss fight there are cutscenes that transition between the different phases of the fight all the while maintaining a very beautiful video quality. At first I thought the cutscenes must all be pre-rendered but looking at how the footage has changed from the trailers to this it seems more like it's rendering much of this in-engine and it simply employs a detail slider to increase the visual fidelity when we're not in actual combat. This is possibly a core effect that can be used in Unreal Engine 4 natively as I remember similar things Hellblade but the transitions just seem so much smoother here.
we are at the end of 2020 and that part where the percussion kicks in gives me a pre nerdgasm which culminates with the full nerdgasm when the title appears
Just before the transition to Aerith really hit me as it zooms into the little girl's eyes in the park whilst she is looking at the Mako Reactor. I think it was showing the darkness and eariness of using lifeforms' engery to power every day technology. Preventing the dead from resting and finding peace, using the children playing in the park area who have this somewhat innocent attachment to life was impactful. But also the links To Aerith, not only because of the park in the slums but also her attachment to the life stream and the planet's cries. I believe that this was one of the main themes this was portraying as the newer sections, the foreboding music and small hints of A One Winged Angel, which shows the metropolis that is Midgar and how Mako is utilised for virtually everything, cars, lights, interesting with the dead flowers as your are draining life force for power, there is no life force to grow flowers even with the sunlight enveloping the upper plates. This class like system is also demonstrated in the newer sections till the old transition of Aeirth. This all links to how Aeirth has her connection to the livestream, can grow flowers and is located below the plates in the slums. Pretty malevolently beautiful.

We’re all gonna need counseling after seeing this realistic Aerith ummm well you know what happens. I can’t see them changing that as that’s like one of the biggest moments emotionally in gaming period.
RevanJJ they won’t change that. Anyone on the death list surviving would be insincere and corny.. they could kill more people and that would be less of an issue, although hard to do without compromising other works.
I started way later than most folks, having only gotten the game for my birthday in 2002. But holy hell, I was floored by that original intro and the transition to gameplay.

Nyxi you might not see this considering it's been a few weeks but this opening holds an incredibly subtle and important detail: The first seconds of the opening shows the place where Cloud essentially first sets off and becomes a hero... the cliff where he takes on the mantle from a close friend of his. The genius of the people working on this game is astounding

For someone who was a ps1 owner in the 90’s and played FF7 multiple times and had no life only video games . Looking at this remake is gunna blow us away and bring us back to the past and that nostalgic feeling all over again can’t wait!!!!!
Felt the same way. So glad it’s been preordered for a long time. The original and A/C got me through a lot of bad times as a kid and early team. Taught me that games could be a great escape in bad times. I’m so happy they kept most of the main theme intact. I’m with ya, I got the feels from this too!

It's so nice to see someone get as excited about this as I do. I'm a 26 year old guy and this intro genuinely made me tear up. The wasteland you see at the start isn't Cosmo Canyon, in the original game there is a large brown patch around Midgar where all the lifestream has been sucked up and doesn't grow. I've genuinely come to the conclusion that ff7 is the single most insanely good piece of fiction that exists. That seems extreme but think about it, it has: An evil mega corporation bleeding the planet for profit, a protagonist confronting the truth of his past, crystal orbs that grant you magic from the knowledge of your ancestors, a man with a functioning gun arm, a love triangle, betrayal from a mole, deals with death and loss, a planet ending event, ancient mythical monsters created from a gaia theory situation, a space mission to blow up a comet, multiple congenitally enhanced soldiers, an ancient alien invader with "Thing" like powers, old war buddies fighting to survive, several mad scientists conducting unethical experiments, an environmentally friendly message that doesn't shove left wing politics down your throat, and finally, you start as an eco-terrorist and somehow end up fighting what is essentially god at the centre of the earth. Like, what doesn't it have? FFX, as good as it is/was, seems 2 dimensional in comparison, the characters were great but the plot was basically here is the big bad guy, no one can defeat him *spends whole game getting strong enough to defeat him* ok done.

Great channel. I just discovered it. 'When I was your age' (Throw in obligatory middle-aged man joke here) I remember watching the original opening. It exploded my head. Now there's this. I know exactly how you feel. And as much as I love the visuals, the musical arrangement on this game is my absolute love. If it told me to do something, all that I could say is 'As you wish'.
The music so far has just been amazing with everything. That song had such an eerie vibe with the one winged angel sorta in it. I kept getting nervous when ever that song plays something bad is about to happen haha.

Also, during the first boss fight there are cutscenes that transition between the different phases of the fight all the while maintaining a very beautiful video quality. At first I thought the cutscenes must all be pre-rendered but looking at how the footage has changed from the trailers to this it seems more like it's rendering much of this in-engine and it simply employs a detail slider to increase the visual fidelity when we're not in actual combat. This is possibly a core effect that can be used in Unreal Engine 4 natively as I remember similar things Hellblade but the transitions just seem so much smoother here.

Just before the transition to Aerith really hit me as it zooms into the little girl's eyes in the park whilst she is looking at the Mako Reactor.
I think it was showing the darkness and eariness of using lifeforms' engery to power every day technology. Preventing the dead from resting and finding peace, using the children playing in the park area who have this somewhat innocent attachment to life was impactful. But also the links To Aerith, not only because of the park in the slums but also her attachment to the life stream and the planet's cries.
I believe that this was one of the main themes this was portraying as the newer sections, the foreboding music and small hints of A One Winged Angel, which shows the metropolis that is Midgar and how Mako is utilised for virtually everything, cars, lights, interesting with the dead flowers as your are draining life force for power, there is no life force to grow flowers even with the sunlight enveloping the upper plates. This class like system is also demonstrated in the newer sections till the old transition of Aeirth.
This all links to how Aeirth has her connection to the livestream, can grow flowers and is located below the plates in the slums. Pretty malevolently beautiful.

RevanJJ they won’t change that. Anyone on the death list surviving would be insincere and corny.. they could kill more people and that would be less of an issue, although hard to do without compromising other works.

Nyxi you might not see this considering it's been a few weeks but this opening holds an incredibly subtle and important detail:
The first seconds of the opening shows the place where Cloud essentially first sets off and becomes a hero... the cliff where he takes on the mantle from a close friend of his.
The genius of the people working on this game is astounding

For someone who was a ps1 owner in the 90’s and played FF7 multiple times and had no life only video games . Looking at this remake is gunna blow us away and bring us back to the past and that nostalgic feeling all over again can’t wait!!!!!
Felt the same way. So glad it’s been preordered for a long time. The original and A/C got me through a lot of bad times as a kid and early team. Taught me that games could be a great escape in bad times. I’m so happy they kept most of the main theme intact. I’m with ya, I got the feels from this too!

It's so nice to see someone get as excited about this as I do. I'm a 26 year old guy and this intro genuinely made me tear up. The wasteland you see at the start isn't Cosmo Canyon, in the original game there is a large brown patch around Midgar where all the lifestream has been sucked up and doesn't grow.
I've genuinely come to the conclusion that ff7 is the single most insanely good piece of fiction that exists. That seems extreme but think about it, it has: An evil mega corporation bleeding the planet for profit, a protagonist confronting the truth of his past, crystal orbs that grant you magic from the knowledge of your ancestors, a man with a functioning gun arm, a love triangle, betrayal from a mole, deals with death and loss, a planet ending event, ancient mythical monsters created from a gaia theory situation, a space mission to blow up a comet, multiple congenitally enhanced soldiers, an ancient alien invader with "Thing" like powers, old war buddies fighting to survive, several mad scientists conducting unethical experiments, an environmentally friendly message that doesn't shove left wing politics down your throat, and finally, you start as an eco-terrorist and somehow end up fighting what is essentially god at the centre of the earth.
Like, what doesn't it have? FFX, as good as it is/was, seems 2 dimensional in comparison, the characters were great but the plot was basically here is the big bad guy, no one can defeat him *spends whole game getting strong enough to defeat him* ok done.

Great channel. I just discovered it. 'When I was your age' (Throw in obligatory middle-aged man joke here) I remember watching the original opening. It exploded my head. Now there's this. The music so far has just been amazing with everything. That song had such an eerie vibe with the one winged angel sorta in it. I kept getting nervous when ever that song plays something bad is about to happen haha.

You can tell she’s a real fan when she recognized subtle choir from one-winged angel in the opening (yeah, it’s a hint that Sephiroth was already there in the beginning, unlike the original. which only mean one thing, future Sephiroth)
I did play the original on PS1 when it was fresh released back then. I'm 41 now and I can't describe how hype I am with this remake.
