I'm a grown-ass adult in my 40s(!), and I sat there in that start screen with tears in my eyes for a solid ten minutes, just listening to that music and _remembering_ the first time I played the original FFVII. I hadn't even started the game yet and I was getting body-slammed with the feels.

But it's right there in your face. Cloud did indeed see Tifa 5 years ago in Nibelheim but for Tifa it's a way loonger time they haven't seen each other....
When Sephiroth tells Cloud "Run away, run away Cloud" I immediately thought of Scar and Simba! I love the music, environment detail and the extended depth of all the character stories. Specially Jessie, Biggs and Wedge. Jessie had me rooting for her lol Marlene is soooooooo cuuuuuuute! Your Tifa moments crack me up everytime! I had to take a screenshot of young Tifa/Cloud and that gorgeous night sky for a wallpaper! Can't wait to see your reaction to the rest of the game. It was a rollercoaster ride for me.
Also, he never says he is talking about Cloud's mother when he says, " the sound of her voice pleading for me to spare you, the shiver of her flesh yielding to cold steal" Through out that sentence, there is no change in subject which he delivers in the line before those two. If THE PLANET should die, so many things would be lost, your hometown that burns so bright... The Planet is the subject, and who is the voice of the planet, and who died to Sephiroth's sword...
These writers were way ahead of everyone. How about when Rude says to Aerith "Go home and stay there!" and she goes "You know I can't do that!" when he's about to fly away on the chopper after the first encounter with him?

I think this game broke people at various different parts. I was fine until the start of chapter 8 and then the music in the church got me.
8:00 was the moment that got everybody. It just snuck up on us and kidney punched us in the feels with that music.

These characters have my heart. The entire game and experience reminds me so much of my own passed on friends. Theme of reunion is a sweet one.

@@nicke20686 the original ff7 and ff6 are still the best but the 7 remake is close I just hope the rest is as good or even better on ps5.
