    so the installation was done wrong. that valve was still be installed where you put the boost controller. it’s a split valve that splits the flow to the wastegate up to your boost controller, where you open the controller to bleed the pressure off form getting to the wastegate, it gives way more control over your boost this way than the way you have installed it.

    • @namesmatt
      @namesmatt 3 роки тому

      so the arrow on the valve points towards the waste gate, and the nipple coming off the top of the spout valve goes to your dial, and connect the valve to the hose with the arrow pointing towards the T. and the other end of the valve left open or piece of hose directed into the engine bay if you mount it inside the cabin (just so you don’t constantly hear the valve bleeding off) it’s way more accurate for decreasing pressure to the wastegate

      Ok maybe I’ll try it that way, it didn’t come with instructions so it wasn’t clear on how to install it. The truck is put away for the winter but I’ll try it that way in spring time.

      The installation was done right my friend! The T piece is for a different type of boost controller the one tha has its nipples on the same side and writes vein and T piece. Maybe tbe purpose of this connector is for connecting to a sensor

    Describing a FMU (efi) and MBC LMFAO
    "The FMU/MBC, like the carburetor, is a complicated device used to provide the wrong air/fuel ratio at all combinations of speed and load!"
    ....
    "Well in its defense it is slightly more effective than the controlled fuel/air leak we call carburetors"
    MODERN EFI SYSTEMS WITH MBC/FMU:
    Knock sensor: somethings wrong.. I should pull timing
    O2: yup, definitely something wrong, let’s add some fuel
    MAP/MAFS: guys... I’m really not liking this..

    So did you remove the spring with since you installed the boost controller

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  4 роки тому +3

      No you need to leave the spring in the wastegate, the boost controls just restricts the signal to the wastegate opens later and the turbo builds more boost. If you removed the spring the wastegate would open as soon as the turbo started to create boost

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  4 роки тому +2

      Volvomar Plat yes with the dial all the way down it will be the lowest boost setting which will depend on what spring you have in the wastegate, in my case it is a spring that provides about 5 pounds of boost.

  • @bigmik3566
    @bigmik3566 4 роки тому

    Sounds like your revving harder after turning it up. So is this video a load of bollox?
    How can a boost controller add more pressure on a straight pipe? It can only restrict it

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  4 роки тому +10

      BIG MIK3 it restricts the pressure going to the wastegate actuator. So the diaphragm on the wastegate doesn’t have the full boost pressure from the turbo acting on it, so the wastegate stays closed longer and the turbo creates more boost. The boost controller isn’t adding more pressure it restricts the pressure going to the wastegate which allows the turbo to create more boost pressure.

  • @tommyv4980
    @tommyv4980 4 роки тому +2

    So if your spring in your wastegate minimum psi is 5, does this mean you shouldn't exceed ~15psi just to be safe? So that means you are responsible for making sure you don't exceed that amount on the boost contorller? Am I correct? I'm trying to learn this stuff, it's really interesting.

    • @RoliRuli

      Actually you have to watch the air/fuel ratio, since your injectors will max out at some point, while turbo still delivers air in and it can lean out your engine

    Why is your boost gauge reading 0 at idle? You should see vacuum

    • @LowbuckLS
      @LowbuckLS  Рік тому +2

      Because when I made this video, the point where my boost gauge was sensing pressure was upstream of the throttle plate in the throttle body. I have since moved it so it senses downstream of the throttle plate so now it does read vacuum at idle.
