"Just because Le Spatula was shiny doesn't mean he's of quality." That's actually a pretty good moral. If only it was done correctly.
TheRich4270 Looked pretty straightforward to me.
That's a good point
I don’t know I personally thought the whole crying scene was actually pretty funny. Especially when he’s in a therapy session and stops for a moment and having the therapist be like “mhm…mhm go on” and Patrick just randomly showing up on top of a mountain with SpongeBob just so that HE could cry too.
You forgot to point out the fact that the episode was mean-spirited. Seriously, that scene where the French spatula leaves SpongeBob is one of the cruelest scenes of the show.
SodaBoy628 "Have fun ladling in your greasy spoon."
Compared to what we have in other episodes, it's relatively mild.
Skeeter Mania True, but at the time, it was one of the cruelest scenes in the show, not to mention that it came out of nowhere.
How is it cruel?
And this is why I find this episode very surrealist!
Only defense I can think of for the episode is that it's not Good Neighbors.
Macrepeh no, All that glitters is way worse than Good neighbors
@@neonflashsparkotron5435 For sure. In fact, Good Neighbors for me is only the 5th worst of the season.
Edit: 4th worst because now I think it's worse then Wigstruck.
I like wig struck
Good Neighbors was worse than All That Glitters
Good Neighbors was so much better than this episode imo
List of over long jokes
1. Monster krabby patty
2. Wahhh ha!
3. Montage of spat
4. Now no
5. Spongebob crying all the way to the krusty krabs
My favorite part is the title card
Evil Spatula is a great episode
This one well SCUMBOB
My favorite part is where sponegbob breaks his arms in the end.
Ben riggle sorry to burst your bubble but here is my math equation
Help Wanted = Good
All That Glitters = Scumbob
Evil Spatula = Meh
There's only 1 Krusty Krab boi.
That part of the episode where Spongebob says, *"All that glitters is not gold,"* it's the worst moral I've ever heard in my life.
Honestly, it was the only part of the episode I laughed at.
phanpy ken Yeah but that episode made it blatantly obvious they weren't trying to be serious with the moral. You could hear it in SB's voice inflections
Actually the expression it self is a good moral. (That the appearance of something doesn't give an indication of it's true nature.Or just because something is glittery doesn't mean it's made of gold) It was just executed poorly here.Besides, I think,'I guess crying really does solve all your problems' is way worse.
excuse my stupidit but what is the moral of that?
***** I completely forgotten about that moral too.
There is an episode of Season 9 called "Evil Spatula" and it's a much better episode than this.
I agree.
Sir. Marvin yeah evil spatula is a better episode than this
It's okay
Sir. Marvin And yet Pieguy wasn’t far off from calling it a Scumbob episode.
@@beta511ee4 for some reason
As a kid, this episode always felt like a surreal outlier of the series. I think it's because the "all that glitters is not gold" line and shot at the end stuck with me, because like you said, it was pretty offputting.
Honestly, if if I wrote this episode, I'd probably make it very different.
So, my idea is that Mr. Krabs found a worthless thing that looks very similar to a valuable thing. However, dazed by his greed, he doesn't realize it's not that valuable thing, just a look-alike, and then it's basically funny schemes to try to sell and advertise it, all of which fail.
I think it'd fit the title very well! I mean, who thinks of broken spatulas with the title "All That Glitters"?
camwoodstock That sounds better idea and I think the title, ‘All That Glitters’ kind of sounds more like a title for a Mr. Krabs centric episode rather than a SpongeBob centric episode. Because most of the time, the episodes often had puns or references to the character that the episode may have been focusing on. I think a better title for this episode could’ve been something like ‘Spatastrophe’ or something
I'd take Good Neighbors over All That Glitters.
I'd take all that glitters over whale of a birthday.
Me too
I'd take to love a patty over this episode
All that glitters is not gold. Worst moral ever.
***** What about Stuck in the Wringer's "I Guess crying DOES solve your Problems!"
Redeye That moral can burn in hell as well.
Redeye lol, that was a joke. Still a terrible episode though.
Watch teen titans go! Boys vs Girls
Okay, I'm convinced.
That new intro is super trippy
I love it
This episode just kind of bewildered me when I first watched it. It's just to stupid for me to really be mad at but not really a "stupid fun" type episode for me to enjoy either.
Thumbs up for PieguyFred
"Maybe someone will have a good defense in the comments."
_MY TIME HAS COME._
Not gonna lie, this was a good rant (cue the "good rant" text appearing over the video), but some odd things came out of it.
One of the main complaints with this episode is that SpongeBob is naked throughout a chunk of the episode. I can see that, but what about the *Good* episode Nature Pants, where he was naked throughout the entire thing!
SpongeBob also cried a lot throughout the entire episode, which could have been annoying, but to me it was a lot easier on the ears than the crying scene from Karate Choppers. Plus, while the crying jokes lasted a while, I personally don't see much wrong with something going on a bit too long, as long as it's funny, which I thought the "crying in many different places" gag to be hilarious, especially with the way it brought Patrick into the episode.
I thought the moral SpongeBob said was a good form of shock value, but that's probably just me.
Then, there's the ending. This was my favorite part. SpongeBob, in slow motion, grabs his spatula and resumes work, which I thought was extremely sweet _and_ extremely funny at the same time. I can see those being annoying, but by that logic, Driven To Tears, Mermaidman & Barnacle Boy IV, Bubble Buddy, and Snowball Effect would all be stupid. To me it works, but I can see it not working in anyone's eyes.
Well, as you can see, I just defended this episode. I like to live dangerously too.
Very good points!
To me anyway, the nudity is just a small slightly irritating thing on top of an already irritating episode. It's weird to see characters off model for too long. I guess we just get so used to the way a character usually looks that it's odd to see it so different for so long. As far as Nature Pants, the nudity is still a little strange there, but it was also used in story to symbolize SB going native, In this episode him being naked is just the result of another overly long gag with no impact on anything.
I agree, the crying in Karate Choppers should have been toned back, but there were some good sight gags to go with it, it felt justified because SB had lost something of great importance to not just him but also the audience, and otherwise that episode is great,
As far as the ending, it has no emotional resonance with me, because the episode didn't do enough to make me actually care about spat or even the general plot. Also comedy is of course subjective :P
***** hey pie guy when when is the suicide jokes spongy bits coming out
***** Interesting thoughts, especially the justifying of the crying scene.
I dunno, I guess looking at All That Glitters in Season 4, it'd be a lot different if it were in any other season, really.
Maybe that's a good idea for a Square Theory:
"How Would SpongeBob Episodes be Different If Aired in Different Seasons?"
***** Also that Spongey Bits intro you made was SPECTACULAR. (Or Sponge-tacular? Yes? No? Maybe so?)
Did you make it with Adobe After Effects?
Mr. WinnerPerson
It's not really that odd, I completely understand why people dislike the episode. It has many things that anyone could see as jarring.
The only thing I remember about this episode is that part where Spongebob pops up and says "All that glitters is not gold." Then I said to myself "So that's why they call it that," just like Peter in that cutaway gag from that Family Guy episode.
Wow, the new intro looks great! I'm glad you're giving this episode a good tearing into. This was one of the episodes that drove me away from Spongebob for a long time.
I wonder how that show harvey beaks will be. I hope its pretty good considering nick hasn't had any good animated shows since korra got canceled.
The moral "All that glitters is not gold", is a pretty good lesson to learn.
Spencer Dixon This quote is from Happy Tree Friends episode, Hello Dolly(After credits). 4:51
One thing I found really stupid about this is: if Monster Krabby Patties are so bad, why doesn't Krabs take it off the menu?
Because it would probably cost him a great deal of money, and we all know how cheap he is!
Well, apparently Alvin replaced PIEGUY for a second there.
at the risk of being attacked..
this was one of my favorite episodes, when I was younger. I like the gag of him crying a lot. it's funny! he cries a lot and it's silly. I thought all the gags were fun to watch and I liked the scene with Spongebob talking to us. it was funny how he was so calm and then just went back to crying.
Don't be afraid! All opinions are welcome here! Even the ones I disagree with personally.
I recall liking how Patrick walks up to him and then immediately starts crying himself.
+Declan Sheehan
I remember that! it was hilarious. XD
+Declan Sheehan okay that was pretty funny
Random Dragon watching this as an 18 year old just half a hour ago, l disliked it but l could totally see why l really liked parts of it as a kid
Pieguy, you became Fred.
glad I didn't watch the whole of this and missed out on the title card back when we still had cable in the living room!
Heh. That was pretty good. I've been waiting for this! Was randomly refreshing and found it. XD
When I first saw this episode as a kid, I immediately said, "That was stupid."
Great job reviewing this episode, dude.
This episode as the topic of infidelity and that everything that looks good isnt as good as you think. You can tell when spongebob says " it was a moment of weakness" like when someone cheats on their partner or " those patties arent gonna flip themselves you know" meaning his urge to satisfy his needs when his partner is not present. Its crazy how they alluded this in a kids show which has slowly turn to utter garbage from season 5 onward
There's a much better version of this in the ninth season. It's called "Evil Spatula" and it's amazing.
I do like how you summerize the episode and end up having you voice go all high and super fast. that part make me chuckle. Keep up the good work, PieGuy. Keep up the good work. Good luck in Season 7. Oh and by the way, there's one episode that I think you're gonna adore like crazy. It's called Perfect Chemistry. I'm not gonna tell you what it is, but I'm gonna give you a heads up, it was the first episode of Spongebob that was funny, watchable, and entertaining from start to finish, for the first time since Pest of the West. Yeah, Spongebob vs The Big One was charmingly entertaining to watch, especially during the summer time, but Perfect Chemistry was halarious, funny and I'm sure that it's gonna make you laugh throughout, just like how you felt with The Slumber Party.
Good video!! I also find your chipmunk voice in this funny! :)
Spongebob point blank says why the hand-fisted moral fails :"I didn't mean to betray you. Mr. Krabs needed a replacement. Krabby Patties don't flip themselves, you know."
Kemdizzzle Well, that’s your opinion, buddy.
Love the New Seasons 1-6 Vortex Intro!
You deserve much more subscribers pieguy, you are very reasonable and entertaining at the same time. You average 5 dislikes per video with around 500 likes drowning that. Keep it up man
Great review as always.
Love your new intro! :)
Spongebob had two spatulas before this i think. the other one was the "hydrodynamic spatula with port and starboard attachments and a turbo-drive." he had in "Help Wanted"
the new spongey bits intro is awesome.
Ha ha ha! I just find it to be HILARIOUS how your voice keeps getting more and more sped-up as you point out all the failed jokes in this episode between 2:40 and 3:38!
Me too🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
There are stories I've seen that have unsubtle morals but I think this might be the only cartoon episode I've seen where they had a character actively come out and tell you the moral
More like, "I'll never find another spatula like him, again." - SpongeBob
2:40 PIEGUYRULZ but every time he states a joke that goes on for too long it gets faster.
When SpongeBob said all that glitters is not gold got a laugh out of me
All That Glitters in words for me
Patted from the running gags, if those gags were not there then it would be a 7 minute episode maybe.
Oh boy, season 7 is next. Please, PieGuy, rip One Coarse Meal to shreds.
Highlight is Patrick randomly joining SB to cry. That’s it.
So, this is the episode that made you notice SpongeBob was decaying in quality? Me too! I was so disappointed when I saw this episode for the first time; not only did SpongeBob seem infantilized, but Spat being sentient destroyed my suspension of disbelief. Not helping is that "Wishing You Well" isn't that great either. To this day, this is my second-least favorite episode, behind only "Squidward in Clarinetland". It's nice to see someone ripping it a new one.
Brendan Rizzo THANK YOU! I find "Squidward in Clarinetland" to be highly overrated.
Well, if Spongebob's spatula is sentient, I guess that explains the scene from The Curse of Bikini Bottom, where Spongebob breaks his spatula in half, and it turns into a ghost spatula.
If the fat orange customer didn't order a Monster Krabby Patty in the first place then SpongeBob's Spatula wouldn't have broke while trying to flip the big patty so its all his fault
This was a bad episode but was it really ahhh I'll never forget this bad?
i had to watch a ad of a new alvin and the chipmunks live action movie
please kill me
TheNintendochannel64 I saw the first two of those and hated them both.
Love that intro :D
I love it when you make your voice sound like Fred
I don't hate this episode but the best part about it was the episode that followed it, Wishing You Well
Which is worse? All That Glitters or The Clash of Triton?
I'd take all that glitters over whale of a birthday.
Know someone already pointed this out - but that intro was really cool :).
This video must be 2 years ago
4
Pie guy can you do this for the next season review. Can you please add the writers to the episode (for example if an episode is made by mr. Lawrence can you put it by the title). Keep up the good work!
Are you ever gonna do a video on Harvey Beaks? It's had 4 episodes so far.
Note: Love the video!
Maybe if the episode had spongebob hate the new spatula but he begins to love it and finds out that it's better then his old and have spongebob regret leaving the old one and they could have don't something wacky like have the new one become chaotic and the old one saves him and it'll teach the kids that sometimes new isn't always better. Idk if that would have work but I think it would make a better episode. Good Job PieGuy XD
This is one of the episodes that i dont remember. at all.
Nice job!
never seen wigstruck. could u do a rant on it?
Hang on, you're an all star
SpongeBob is right when he said all that glitters is not gold. He’s right about that. This episode is not gold, it sucks.
When I got The First 100 Episodes dvd (2 Re -Released) I Watch this Episode with Wigstuck , new leaf and whale of a birthday
That quote is from Happy Tree Friends episode, Hello Dolly(After credits). 4:51
Hey PIEGUYRULZ you should do a spongey bits for your top 5 of each season. Just suggestion.
Hi, I am a new fan!
We've all had that SpongeBob episode that opened our eyes on how much the show changed... This was mine
I wasn't paying attention at around 3:19 and suddenly i was having flashbacks to Gaijin Goombah
Two things of note::
1. It seems to me that this should have been your worst pick, not Good Neighbors.
2. Now you just need to do a video on Wigstruck. Then the whole bottom 5 will have a video (The Thing was covered in that Squid Torture episode Square Theory video.)
"MONSTER KRABBY PATTY?!?!?!?!"
wow alvin, simon, theodore, chip and dale all come in, nice!
To be honest, is my least favorite episode of Season 4, there's out worse episodes, but this episode is just annoying all by Spongebob -_-
To be honest this is my least favoute episode of the WHOLE SHOW
Pieguyrulz, You remembered Naked Band Brothers,But tell me, Do you remember Ying Yang Yo? Lol
Fred Figglehorn makes a cameo in this review ::);:) lol
2:39-3:37 Reverse Puberty? The Chipmunk Effect? FRED?!?!?!? lol Hoorah! Lets do that again.
I never understood why spongebob said all the glitters is not gold I thought it was him being random and trying to make me laugh
Dajuon Bowen This quote is from Happy Tree Friends episode, Hello Dolly(After credits). 4:51
It's a saying/ moral, meaning that fancy things are not always of quality
All that Glitters is not gold....... it's not good either
2:48-3:37 Insert fast forward icon here.
*****
That's not what I meant.
***** omg you watch pieguy?
Then the exact same thing happens in Evil Spatula.
You did a good job on Nathan's channel
3:28 Whoa Take it easy pieguy.
I can remember being pretty off put by this episode (and Rule of Dumb) as a child. The parts with Le Spatula and the weird thing with Patrick looking in the mirror both made me really uncomfortable and I don't really know why?
3:07-3:36 PieGuy went from Fred to a chipmunk XD
I don't want to be bad luck for being born at may of the same year
The only thing that made me want to watch this episode was the fact that "Wishing you Well"' is its sister episode. But, even then, I have a hard time sitting through the episode.
Another problem with the episode: when Spongebob is talking to a spatula that he thinks is Spat but isn't...at the hospital... Well, first off, SB mistook another spatula for Spat... Second, when it is lafer revealed that "this isn't your spatula" (wait, someone else also put their spatula in tgr hospital?), it's played like a twist. But we can clearly see it earlier that the spatula isn't Spat
When a PS3 60GB BC breaks on you and goes YLOD. Just like how i used to cry when my dad's 20GB PS3 kept breaking watching this episode
This reminds me of a song a song that starts with someBODY
I honestly thought this was some sort of bootleg episode the first time i saw it
I agree with what your review video's description says. In fact, this episode just upset me when I was 2 or 3! Now I am 14 years old, and I still find it too absurd! It's even worse than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic's "Ponyville Confidential" and The Amazing World of Gumball's "The Hero"!
NOTE: Both My Little Pony and Gumball are my all-time most favorites.
you are awsome!!!!!!
"All that glitters" is at least better than "The Splinter" unless you think gross-out is funny.
But you get used to gross outs
Yeah but its close
Still The Splinter was incredibly uninspired
Augusto Cannoli not close at all
Kinda like how Moody’s point on the Amanda show was like a soap opera
3:37 you got your real voice again
When a PS3 60GB BC breaks on you and goes YLOD. Just like how i used to cry when my dad's 20GB PS3 kept breaking.
Watch "Evil Spatula" a LOT better version of this bad episode.
2:48 to 3:37 PIEGUYRULZ was acting like Alvin the Chipmunk!
+AWESOMEAMPER3 I know this comment is outdated but no he didnt he sped up his voice so this video wouldnt be 10 minutes long
The faster he sped it up, the squeakier his voice was. That's what I saw... I think.
the doctor job wasn't really a bad joke, i think it's more of a recurring joke in the episode rather than a "did you forget? let me remind you" joke
