The amish community is the best, Their kids are not watching tv all day, or with the cellphone they have values studying the about God every day not only sundays. . i wish all the world be like them
"thats as close as you can get to god, working the soil" love it.
Thanks for this video the Amish are growing in number ... With large happy families the Amish consider children a blessing and are prolife !!!
Hope they will vote in our elections to protect the unborn
'Normal' society is falling apart at the seams; drug addiction, abortion, STD's, random shootings, terrorism. These are all things that the Amish don't do, because they live like our ancestors lived. I'm not Amish, but I'm glad they exist, and provide a reminder of how things used to be.
I agree boogie, we need to look at them and see what maybe we should give up. Prepare our food simply not all the preservatives. Have a cookout instead of going to movies all the time. We all can afford a cook out and maybe volleyball and horse shoes.
Want it for your life, its simple. Base it on YOUR belief in the Infinite One, base it on your family and fellow families, you can live for example as we Jewish Chasidic Jews can live in the center of London, New York City,Paris,Brussles,Tel Aviv which is more New York City than NYC. No need to run away, you might need to run-to!! And base it on serving the Infinite One with great joy since in sadness you cannot ever serve, do it as you chose, your own faith.
I agree, you are exactly right

I think so many people come to visit is because they long for a more simple life and time. Just peaceful to look at and imagine yourself living like that.
It's a yearning for a wholesome, simpler, family/community based life!
Intercourse = conversation, connection, exchanging information, talking, agreement, fellowship, communication, dialogue, business relations.
That's not what they taught me in 9th grade. I would never use it in any of the ways you describe because of that.
Modern life has made people shallow. I respect the Amish and their way of doing things.
Thanks for posting. I love these shows about the Amish that show them as real people. Hollywood-made shows that sensationalize the handful of Amish teenagers who are troubled and running amok miss the point that the majority of Amish are sincere, loving people who care about their families.
Wow this was really well made: the land, people & documentary!
I really see a beautiful simple meaningful life.....Amish people are great
This documentary looks really good. I would love to see the rest.
There are varying degrees of Amish. Some don't mind having their photographs taken or being filmed. Some will use electricity; others will use propane for lighting. So being Amish is a matter of convenience to the individual practitioner.
So very true, the path to becoming a true human being takes many outer forms but very few inner. Once awakened from a state of sleep, one cannot go back.
The Amish are great people
I find the life style wonderful, amazing and an example maybe we should all try to live a simple life.
I think the PBS website? You can order the DVD from them if the free view is gone...
OMG! Who named that town, 'Intercourse'???
Does anyone know where I can find the rest of the program? Are there more chapters/parts available on UA-cam? Thanks!

The word intercourse does not refer to having sex. It means having a connection or dealings by communications between individuals.
Social intercourse means interacting and communicating verbally.
yes I believe so
Quite right!
ive been here for two minutes for school and i just read half the comments yall boring😃
Lmao right😭😑
They won't let you film them usually or take their pictures
They boldly go into reality.

The Pennsylvania Dutch didn't all start out or stay in Pennsylvania. The first Germans to settled in America did so in the Hudson Valley. Then some who settled in Pennsylvania moved south. In the Old World the Rhinelanders (who made up most of the Pennsylvania Dutch) were known as the best farmers. In the New World they always wanted to settle in dense forests. Their thinking was that the biggest plants would grow in the best soil. Pennsylvania had the best soil in the original 13 states, but I doubt that the best soil in the U.S. today is found there.
Well, overall it still might be true. The best concrete in the world us in Pennsylvania, the best slate, Iron and ore was always common. Modern drilling for Oil was discovered in PA. Still the best coal in the world. Then the farm land is amazing. The best Soy crop in the world, Pennsylvania. Corn, Wheat, Canola, barley are all grown there. Then in the summertime their fruit and vegetables grow with ease. So I would still say, there is no better soil than in Pennsylvania. I know, I live and grow there.
"with the sweat of his brow" Everyone's brow is sweating. Just because you don't see us unearthing potatoes doesn't mean we're not working hard. The difference is that in modern society, a ounce of "brow sweat" produces a million times more potatoes, as well as modern medicine, communication technology etc.
@Shea Martin yeah, until someone gets an extremely painful chronic disease that can can only be treated by modern medicine
@Shea Martin why the hate for their lifestyle? It works out for most men who are born there, but good luck if you're born a woman or gay
@Shea Martin lol yeah keep not taking people who are different from you seriously, the world reaaaaally needs more people like you rn
black hair, and large, very brown eyes. Obviously, Emily had inherited Mom's eyes. The boys were a mixture of both parents, while Mary Francis sported Eli's bright red hair and green eyes. Ruth was quick to explain to her husband that I had been kind enough to help Emily in the rest room. "Where were you?" Eli asked Mary Francis. "Why weren't you helping your sister?"
Mary Francis leaned in close to her Dad and whispered "I had to go REALLY BAD, Poppa! I couldn't wait!" "Next time," Eli said.
It’s basically the clothes and buggy. If they wore normal clothes and drove a car but lived the same beliefs people wouldn’t gawk or be spectators

"took care of business". Afterward, I lifted her up, so she could wash her hands and use the hot air hand drier, that she got huge kick out of. She giggled and said that the air tickled her skin. She was happily chattering away to me, and still giggling about the hand drier as we exited the ladies room together. Her Mom was a little surprised to see Emily holding my hand and talking merrily to me. Mom asked her; "What happened, Em? Are you all right?"
I explained that the little one had had
The original meaning of intercourse is an interaction or exchange. Later it became sexual intercourse-or sexual interaction-and then just intercourse.
After being Baptized, the spirit of God, in the form of a white Dove, came to land on Jesus' shoulder. The clouds parted, and God's voice spoke from the Heavens; "This is my SON, The Beloved. Of Him I do approve!" All of those people gathered at the river heard that voice and were struck with awe. If Jesus is God, what did he do that day, Throw his voice like an ventriloquist? When he was praying in the Garden as asked; "Father, take this cup from me." Did he somehow manage to punish HIMSELF?
Yes, I've been finding out many of our word's meanings in America have been deliberately twisted!
The Amish are people just like we are, and although they seem to be more at peace with their lives and live styles there is still trouble around. They have abuse and problems just like the so called " English". We seem to put them in higher esteem and forget that they are sinners just like everybody else.
There are always a few rotten apples in the bunch but they are smart enough to not let them spoil the rest
There are a lot more groups then just the Amish that live in the world but not of it. Im a part of one of them. And we walk among you.
they say on here that the amish people only exist in america and canada, but isnt there an amish comunity in belize south america?
was a little much for the poor little tot to handle. I'd say she was four or five years old. Certainly no older than that. And she had an adorable, little, round face, and huge, dark brown eyes. Her name was Emily. Emily's older sister had gone into another stall, so the little one was on her own, in this strange, crowded bathroom (The Amish have Outhouses at home), and she was frightened to use the toilet by herself, so I asked if she'd like me to help her. She did. So, I held onto her as she
Some words have more than one meaning. Ever looked up some words in the dictionary? And who is to say what it really means?
@Mr Krähenbühl 11:11: They lived separated before they were prosecuted. Persecution is not the reason for their seperation. By the way, the last Annabaptist who was executed was Hans Haslibacher in 1535. After 1535 no one got executed because of his Religion in Switzerland.
finally joined us, was a tall, beefy, broad-shouldered man, who towered over all of us. His name was Eli and he had a huge shock of bright red hair. His eyebrows, eyelashes and beard were of the same color. Eli had a broad, open face, with pleasant features and a faceful of freckles. He and little Emily both had the same, deep dimples in both cheeks, that became prominent when either of them smiled. Eli possessed lovely green eyes. LOL! Did the Amish move in after the town was named?
pretty odd name considering who lives there!
This says the Amish only live in U.S. and Canada, but I have seen Amish in Central America as well. I have also heard about Amish communities in South America.
Are you sure they were Amish, because this documentary is right. They are mainly situated in the U.S. and some in Canada. That's it.
@@musicaltheatergeek79 True - may have been Old Colony / Old Order Mennonite.
Those are Mennonites
I just looked it up online - there are Amish/“Old Colony” Mennonites who moved to Bolivia from Tennessee in the mid-90’s. They live a low-technology agrarian lifestyle. There are also Old Colony Mennonites throughout Mexico and other Central American countries who live without or with little technology.
hao
people visit for the food
lol I live a n the country, so yeah I don't need a tour of my own surroundings..
Aren't the Amish also in Mexico?
Mennonites
Central America as well, but they are mennoite, not Amish.
its all about supply and demand. If people weren't interested in how the Amish live then there would be nothing to market.
no not Mennonites , im sure they are Amish, if i can find the video again i will send a link.thanks for your reply.
Why cant we just leave them alone???
Got to love 2:32 how she ask is there an identity as Americans, omg they don't fly the flag don't swear allegiance good for them standing up and defending their faith and not submitting to social pressure wish more people would do the same
It's not fair that non Amish had to sacrifice there sons on battlefield and the Amish sons did not
so many people are leaving the secular world? Where are they going?
There's more to the Amish than what they allow us to see. For instance, the teens get together for "Hut Parties", where booze and drugs flow freely. They have many rivalries and squabble and fight among themselves. They even have their own kind of "Law Enforcement" that keeps things under control. People are people, whether or not they follow different religious beliefs. People will do what people will do. The Amish are no better or worse than anyone else.
I think you have been watching too much reality tv. I watch those shows because they are entertaining but I do not think they are reality.
Someone who didn't live in a culture as thoroughly sexualized as ours.
Excuse me! I happen to be an AMERICAN, and I have NEVER intruded on the privacy of Amish Folks. Also, I live in Pennsylvania where there are many large Amish Communities, such as Lancaster. We always see them buggying by, visiting the Pittsburgh Zoo, Amish families stopping by the restaurant where my husband works, Amish groups touring the Carnegie Science Center. The men and boys dress rather comically, with their trousers cut too high above the ankles, suspenders, and wide brimmed hats.
I would think they would find our fashion ridiculous
of people; “You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with a Gentile or visit him." Another quote that shows how Jesus felt about Gentiles.
Yes; and all of those kinds of things concerning those who practice iniquity in those things in the bible was also called; "Harlotry". That ain't necessarily 'sex', either.
They came to see the elders....who dont ever need to see the elders.
I LIKE the outfits worn by the women and girls. Their dresses are made in such lovely, intense colors, with crisp, white aprons over the dress. I love those little, white hats, too. They're so cute on the really small girls. They all wear black stockings, as well. All the Amish that I've met, and talked with are very sweet, and exceptionally polite. I was in the ladies rest room, and had to help a little Amish girl with her dress so she could use the toilet. All of that fabric was a little
and you would be?
In Matthew Matt. 10:5, Jesus instructs his Deciples, ”Go not into the way of the Gentiles” and in Matthew 15:24 he says, “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel” In Matthew 15:22-26 we read; 22A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession.”
23Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out to us.”
Some people need to get their mind out of the gutter
4 minutes in and I feel like a pervert, goodbye Amish, love you.x
One thing you can say about the Amish people they are great at shunning, they have that down pretty pat.
Not true most still talk to people who have left the group. After all Jesus said not to shun
"They want to live according to Christs teachings and the majority of the world is not doing that." i hear you THERE, of course its more than the MAJORITY.
ew the the fact that there are amish tour buses is terrible. I hope the poor ams are making some money off of the darn tourists at least.
I agree everyone should pay in a dollar to just get in, it will help them keep their farms up. And keep things looking nice.
People visit them because it is like taking your Delorian and going to the 1500s.
Matt 15:22-26 cont.
24He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
25The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.
26He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.” The Jews thought of themselves as The Masters, and everyone else as their dogs.
In John 4:22 Jesus says; "You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews."

The Amish isolate themselves too much to be counted as legitimate Christians. Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

AMISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
I couldn't believe the idea of living like this. Any religion, so strongly believing in something that has no basis. It's weird.
Why do these people treat the Amish like if their foreign creatures. They just live a much simpler life than us. Why do these people feel the need to take pictures of them!! Just leave them alone! It's not like they come to our neighborhoods and are like "Ooo Look a car take a picture!"
Later when he was on the cross, Jesus spoke to God saying; "Forgive them FATHER, for they know not what they do." Was he perhaps talking to himself? Or maybe, he was putting on an act for the crowd of onlooker? Hardly. He was speaking with GOD, his FATHER. Why Christians erroneously believe that Jesus came to free all of humankind from their sins, I'll never know. In the Bible, Jesus CLEARLY explains his mission. In Matthew Matt. 10:5 , Jesus instructs his deciples, ”Go not into the way of the
Maybe if you wanted to stop all progress of science and technology.
Well I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the ONLY way the Amish or anyone else for that matter is going to get to heaven is by accepting Christ as their personal Savior. Doesn't matter how much good one does on this earth. They must accept Christ.
"accepting Christ as their personal Savior. " chapter and verse? where in the bible is there an option for "accepting Christ" and where does it say "personal savior"? Jesus is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords... He does not request our "acceptance" He demands our *_repentance_* ... big difference. He is not man's "personal savior" He is the Savior of ALL MANKIND... He is the WAY...not us.
Really! Accepting Jesus Christ as your personal saviour is the only way you get to heaven! If that is true then there is going to be a lot of disappointed people. Anyone who makes such a ignorant comment with regards as to how anyone practices their faith and chooses to live should be ashamed of themselves. All this judgement of others just leaves me cold.
Your life lived according to God is the greatest testimony of you being saved not just accepting Christ and living like an unbeliever. The Amish are living like God asked us to live and that is united. While the so called believers of Christ are living divided and in a pagan community. So who is really saved?
That doesn't make sense. Isn't that word also in the bible? Dam it, more research for GOD!
Wrong, Nancy. There is only ONE God, and it is He whom we are supposed to worship! We are NOT to worship the human that God chose to straighten out the Jews, who once again, had gone astray. And, we are NOT supposed to worship his mother, Mary, as the Catholics foolishly do. BOTH of these things are Blasphemies! NOT ONCE, did Jesus ever instruct anyone to worship him. Nor did he EVER claim to be the Messiah. Jesus was not, and is not God. When he went to the river to be baptized by John...
Lol none are worthy of salvation, not even the Amish! It's a free gift, you only have to accept..smh, they have no assurance, just "we can only hope" scripture, give assurance, what haven't they found that in their scriptures?! Smh
most use a German print Bible
yeah, they sure want to live peaceful lives being able to practice and live their religion but still, they won't lift a finger to protect their rights and freedoms. I just think that is wrong an many levels. I wonder if they even pay taxes...
Poor horses or mules. too big a load to haul. smh
