I own a 68, L71, 4spd, 411 posi, NO PS, AC, PB, PW, frame off restoration, it took time to learn the car to be able to drive it, but I must admit, kick those 3 carbs in and hangon, it's all business.

I have to know. What did it sell for?
I have a 68 same color, definitely not all those options. Lol mine is #2702. Pretty early production

Bought and sold my 1968 Corvette 427-435HP 4 spd for $4200 bucks back in the old days.... BUT the engine is a code L71 NOT a Z71.....

Off road exhaust wasn’t much more than a straight pipe with crimps in it along its length.
Not much muffler if any at all.
    Edit: I ended up buying this car, ‘68 convertible 427 L69 Tri-power 4spd 3.70:1 rear in dark Green . 😁👍

      It was the Sidepipes.

    • @thud9797
      @thud9797 10 місяців тому

Both wrong. The Off Road System in 1968 was an undercar system with special mufflers. Not chambered like Camaro and no sidepipes available in 68.

Unfortunetly 68 vettes had so many issues that even the chief engineer Zora complained to Bill Mitchell about not being able to sell this first C-3 to the public!! but I'm sure you guys fixed all those issues!!!

Negative, the Off Road Exhaust in 1968 was an undercar 2 1/2" system with special low restriction mufflers. There was no side exhaust system available in 1968.

if I remember correctly the 1968 year was the first year of mass production and featured a windshield wiper door for this year only, could be wrong about that, and I hope you guys manage to get in a C3 and an Opel GT, or Buick GT as it was called in at the same time and do a compare and contrast, as those were known as the baby corvettes of this era
and 5600 dollars, that's about 56 grand nowadays, so about a 6 thousand dollar car in 1968, IE the price of what my father paid for a fully decked out Chrysler Imperial just two years earlier after a guy at the GM Cadillac dealership blew him off, as never write off a customer just because they wear flannel
worst part is the jackass did that to him while he was with his mother, hence why mopars are fondly looked upon in my family while GM, we call them a very nasty word mixed in with the word boxes lol
and to think I've found that car more or less at that original price, and this is a 100 grand, yeash lol
and also being a first year car, the rims are actually thinner by a full inch, I only found this out when i was looking at a corvette sizing chart for rims and tire sizes, these are 7 inch rims, the year afterwards they went to 8, and stuck with them from then on, its why it sits lower and more inset from that 1970 car.
and has more of a C2 look to it, it has the C2 rim and tire sizes, and truthfully the only real difference between a C2 and a C3 is the body and its interior, the frames are damn near the same as I've been finding out.
hence the drastic overhaul of these they did in 1984, they basically made the same car between 1963 to 1982 with some overhauls and changes mostly happening at the end of the run, starting in 1978 when they started to modernize the car if you dont count the bumper and floor changes
like when you see a C3 naked and see what it really is in the underbelly you cant be shocked that that much power is just going through two frame rails with some connecting bits stapled to it that is literally sitting under a gigantic fiberglass tub with two seats in it
hence why theirs now a huge market for overhauling these, like they really DO need it lol and also hence why you really DO need to check the frame on these, as the people only see the fiberglass, and they never check the metal, namely around the back where it meets with the rear subframes
as its just like the delorean, people only see the body and never look at the steel frame for rot
and I gotta say I wish you would lower the music use, like you got miami, you got the car, like just show the car, and the normal city sounds
as its miami, its a hub of culture and beauty that's not run by Fecking idiots, and you cant say that about california lol
