    Glad you liked our state and area. You made a great tourism video for the lake there. I live exactly one hours drive NW of that campground. Beautiful down there and great fishing. We have much to be thankful for in the Missouri Ozarks! Do come back again. Have a wonderful week!

    Great drone footage. Moving every week? I would rather stay two weeks. A break is needed. I’m not interested in that touristy stuff either. I prefer the history. Lakeside for $ 20 is awesome. We aren’t Passport members but maybe we should be. Great name for that campground. This town reminds me of Pigeon Forge. The museum was cool. Love historical buildings too. That statue was magical. Awesome view from a chapel. Where is that waterfalls? Beautiful. I love canoeing if there is no chance a motor boat will go near me. The water looks a bit rough? We are lucky to have a built in surge protector. I don’t blame you for staying there for two weeks. You need to do this more often. Alice

      Thanks as always Alice! We're typically ready to move on after a week, this was an exception. And the parallels between Branson and Pigeon Forge are indeed obvious, especially with many of the same businesses and venues. Those waterfalls are on the property of Johnny Morris' Big Cedar Lodge.

    Hi Marc!
    We just got back from a week stay in Branson. There is so many things one can do there and we just scratched the surface. We did seventeen things in seven days and are planning to come back in the future.
    We rented a boat out of Indian Point and only managed to get to the bridge at Kimberly. We stopped four times for a swim - water was at a perfect temperature.
    We spent a good part of the day at Top of the Rock. We rented the golf cart and did the drive. It was pretty cool: lots of waterfalls, bridges and a cave. The museum at the golf course is fantastic! I think it was one of the most extensive, impressive Indian museums that I have seen. There was also a good deal of Civil War era displays in there. We spent a few hours in there and we were pretty hungry by the time we got to the Civil War part. Alas, another time.
    The restaurant food was delicious and the view there was beautiful.
    We also went to Dogwood Canyon Park and rented bicycles. That was another wonderful time - lots of bridges and waterfalls by way of an easy paved path that runs for three plus miles into Arkansas.
    There are many caves in Missouri and Talking Caves was pretty neat. It is pretty vertical, so not so good for those who have walking or going up and down stair issues. There is also Fantastic Caverns and that one is a driving tour.
    I see that I have fallen a little behind in Grand Adventure videos so I have a little catching up to do!
    Thank you for your work in all this.
    Ram

      Sounds like you had a blast! I'm guessing that the RV stayed home in California. There is indeed a ton of stuff there, and we almost felt guilty just lazily floating around the lake instead of filming a bunch of different places for all of you, but in the end we got over that guilt after just a few minutes. 😉 We did make a half-hearted effort to rent a boat, but the marina at Table Rock was booked out for about 3 weeks so we didn't try anywhere else, and the money we would've spent on a boat ended up going back into our axle repairs anyway. 😥

    • @laughingram7287
      @laughingram7287 4 роки тому +1

      Hah!
      We only scheduled a week and didn’t want to spend the driving out and back. Once I retire, then the time won’t matter.
      We originally thought we would get there and just relax and maybe do one thing a day. Little did we know.... I think we always say that when we go somewhere.
      Kind of like going to a buffet and telling yourself that you are only going to have a salad. 😏

    Marc... Good morning. Sitting at the job site waiting for the sun to come up. Last night's premiere was really cool. It was awesome to see Table Rock and Branson again. I need to get back down there. Been a long time.
    Monday's storm was intense. Worst I've ever seen in my sixty years. Heavy, heavy rain with crazy lightning. But the wind. 80 to 100 mph. And it lasted for well over an hour. I was driving between jobs when it hit. After the close encounter I had with the trampoline. I decided to pull off the road and wait it out. I did get some pretty good video though. When it finally passed. I couldn't believe the damage. Trees and power lines down everywhere. Took me over two hours to get home. And I was only about twelve miles from my apartment. When I got there. It looked like a war zone. Every tree in the complex took a hit. And of course, no power. Over 100,000 in Des Moines alone without power.
    I went to the storage lot and picked up my RV. So thankful I had a back up plan. Got back home and set up in the parking lot. Fired up the generator. Turned on the A/C and T/V. And moved my food from my apartment into the RV fridge. I think I'm the only one who didn't lose a bunch of groceries. Needless to say. I was a pretty popular guy in the complex.
    As of this morning. Power is starting to come back on around the city. But still out on our end of town. Maybe by tonight. I'm hoping. Life truly is a Grand Adventure.
    Can't wait to see what you've been doing around Lake Superior. We used to go diving there quite a lot. I you're into wreck diving. It's the best place in the U.S. And the scenery isn't bad either.
    Well the sun is up now. Better get to work. As always, stay safe and well.
    Randy in Des Moines. 👍✌

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 роки тому +1

      So happy that you're safe, Randy. We heard about that storm -- my manager lives in Chicago and she's been without power, too. I've also been seeing photos of wrecked RV parks on social media. Sounds like some absolutely crazy straightline winds that stretched for a considerable distance across middle America.
      We're really enjoying ourselves up here. We based two nights in Ishpeming in the hopes of seeing the US Ski Hall of Fame & Museum as well as Painted Rocks, but the Hall is limiting its hours right now and unbeknownst to us, those limited hours didn't coincide with our visit to Ishpeming. We're now further west in L'Anse right on the Keweenau Bay, and this area is delightfully underpopulated and underutilized. Next week we're in Bayfield, WI where we hope to kayak among the sea caves of the Apostle Islands before finally leaving the Lake Superior area and continuing westward.
      Have a great day at work! And here's hoping that your power is restored by the time your work day is done.

    I can see why you stayed an extra week. Very nice camp grounds. People, but not sardines.
    Great... now that I have seen Branson, I don't have to go.
    Very smart how they placed some of their statues out on the water... where idiots can't knock them over. They really thought that one through...
    They should place a small plaque by the statue on the water, saying, "Come and get me screw!"
    No doubt that will cause some clamour...

I don't recall seeing that ferris wheel last time I been there, must be new. Last time I came was the year after the tornado, 8 or 9 years ago. There was a chicken restaurant with a large chicken out front, I suppose that isn't there anymore. That place had pretty good chicken, always went there. Good video.

    Hey how was the visable there. We have same set you have and I work remotely. Did you have good signal?

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 роки тому

      It was congested there, so our signal on Visible was iffy. Decent signal but disappointing throughput rats. We turned to AT&T for that stop. The campground WiFi was completely unreliable.

    Where else to visit in Missouri?

      Our travels there have been limited, but we've heard good things about the Buffalo River in NW Arkansas.

      We did. Not sure how open it was with the whole COVID situation, but we probably would've passed on an amusement park anyway. I love a good roller coaster, but other than that, amusement parks really aren't our thing.

    Marc,
    Lots of kayaking this year... and now you're up in the UP with even more yaking to attend to. Sounds like a great year... less the axle fuss! What's up for this fall?

      Fall has yet to be determined, Gord. Getting out of the arid Intermountain West has certainly opened up more paddling opportunities than usual. We're on Keweenau Bay now, so I'll get out a little bit this week, but I'm looking forward to our proximity to the sea caves of the Apostle Islands next week.

      @@GrandAdventureMarc,
      Apostle Islands are really neat. I have seen videos on them. That's a whole days drive just to transverse the UP... let alone approach it from Minnesota.
      Have you been up to Arcadia Nat Park in Maine? Very beautiful... different kind of rocky beauty... different like the barrier islands of the Golf Coast, vastness...
      Gord

    Was this before COVID-19? Hope so as I saw nobody wearing mask which would be deadly for the typical Branson visitor. Overweight and old

      Love Marc’s videos, but it’s insane to see so many people not wearing masks, as well as hanging out at indoor bars, etc. It’s no wonder why the pandemic is so out of control.
