I had many care providers dismiss me as well ... I was even told after my 15-1/2 yr old dog died I should not grieve more than 1 week... I did not have a very good experience with the medical system and still going through it... in and out of the hospital...
I’m so sorry you’ve had to face such dismissive treatment on top of everything else. Grief and recovery are deeply personal, and no one can put a timeline on them. Your feelings are valid, and you deserve understanding and support. Keep advocating for yourself-you’re stronger than you know.
Thank ou for this video as I have been trying to find other people who have had their eyesight affected when the stoke affected the occipital area of the brain similar to my stroke. It left me with heminopia affecting the left side of each of my eyes and Helen's description of refracted light is identical to mine. I'm aware that my eyesight is affected by the light and when my brain is tired and I get brain fog I also feel like I'm mildly drunk as if I have vertigo. Its because my brains trying to put back the piece of the missing picture all the time which causes the brain to get tired. 2 years after my stoke my brain has started to adjust to the deficit and I'm trying to find ways to accept my eyesight as it is now.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It sounds like you’ve come a long way in understanding and adapting to your new reality. Acceptance can take time, but it’s great to hear you’re finding ways to adjust. Stay patient with yourself-your determination is inspiring. Keep going!
Thank you for sharing your journey, Helen. This gave me a lot to think about in regard to my own recovery.
Prayers 🤲 for healing
