Alina, I too had balance and walking issues caused by my stroke. I'm a warrior too, and it took me 4 different Physical Therapists before I found the right one, for me. My current PT has equipment for me to use. He has really helped, and after lots of work my balance is pretty good, Now we're working on my gait. I spent 7 years using a walker. Now I use walking sticks and intend to continue to improve. The best exercise for me on this, is my 3 independent 12' walks I make each morning to a wall and back. I swing my arms, which I've seen improve my walking stick walking gait, a lot. More PT work, then more Speech Therapy for me! I stay positive. That's important. So is purpose, no matter how small you have to make it. With time and effort, you'll see yourself there once again and become the best you can be, and enjoy life. Keep trying. That seems to be the answer.
Alina you have improved dramatically!! I think you have more dedication to your recovery than I do. I practiced speaking often. My speech is much slower now because I focus on articulation. I was very ashamed of my speech, and word recall and formulation of coherent sentences. I was not aware of the hyperbaric treatments. Like you are probably aware, we don’t fully recover with our specific treatment sessions alone. I have been doing various exercises on my own and that’s because my therapists have all supported me in my improvement efforts. I too felt like my pt could have helped me improve more. I hope you keep your amazing mindset and focus. May you experience your optimum health and recovery outcomes!!!❤. Be well and thanks for your inspiring story!! Your willingness to share, has helped me immensely. Thanks again
328! That is so impressive after having strokes yourself. My husband suggested I find a support group after my stroke on July 2nd and I said I've found your interviews on UA-cam. I've learned so much from other people's stories.
Alina's on going recovery is so encouraging. She has made amazing progress ❤
Indeed she has.
