i cant thank you enough, I am a beginner like have never touched any 3D printers before in my life. Fortunately i have gotten into cosplay and wanted to up my game a bit so i bought a 3D Printer (Neptune 3 plus) Ive watched lots of videos to learn new things and while i enjoyed them and was grateful for them they never came from someone who was new like me who had no idea what they’re doing. Thankfully i have stumbled upon this video and learned even more so thank you!!
Just a note, Elegoo tech support is AWSOME. I had a fast response and they got the problems fixed and new parts shipped out quick. I have 2 Neptune 2S one was new the other was used and had some missing parts. I sent a list of the missing parts and Tech Support rocked the house with speedy delivery. Elegoo supports their products. Hard to go wrong with what every printer size you choose.
13:28: There are actually reasons to get smaller printers other than space and money for the initial cost of the printer. 1. Larger heatbeds will probably take longer to heat up, and almost certainly need more power to heat up/maintain heat. 2. Bigger printers are almost always slower than smaller printers. At least, that's what the Voron community seems to say about the size options for the Voron 2.4, because the weight of the moving parts limits acceleration, and acceleration controls how quickly you can reach your top speed. And this is even worse for bedslingers like the Neptunes. In addition, I'm fairly sure that ringing/ghosting will be worse on bigger printers. 3. In addition to the cost of the printer, replacement print surfaces at sizes beyond the standard 235x235 are more expensive. And I'm pretty confident that bigger beds will probably warp more than smaller beds, so thank goodness they'll come with a mesh probe. But the N3 Pro uses a 6x6 mesh, the N3 Pro uses 7x7, and the N3 Max uses 8x8. So the N3 max will probably take almost twice as long to probe (64 isn't quite double 36). And the N3 Pro is probing pretty slow by my standards, although I'm using a souped-up Neptune 2S with Klipper, a BLTouch, really fast Z and X/Y speeds. 4. Thanks to the popularity of Ender 3 and clones, most printers on the market are 235x235, so most people designing models keep that in mind when printing them. TL;DR unless you have specific things in mind that are larger than 230x230, the majority of people probably won't use the extra space. Bigger isn't always better, it's just bigger.
This was an awesome video. While I consider myself a somewhat advanced user, it’s great to see what others go through. This is the printer I have been recommending, however, it’s easy to forget about the little things when getting started.

Hi there! As someone who is after getting into 3D printing, and is looking for a good beginner printer, I have been working through reviews on UA-cam, trying to find a good printer, that is fairly easy to use for a newbie, that isn't going to cost me the earth! I was considering the Prusa Mini +, as I have heard that they are easy for beginners, but I was put off by the cost and the small bed size. However, your review of the Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro now puts this at the top of my consideration list - not too expensive, pretty easy to get started with, and with a better sized bed! Thanks for your great review and I will keep an eye on your channel in the future! 👍 Just as an aside, I am into N gauge model railways (1/160th scale!) so will probably be buying a resin printer too at some time, but an FDM printer will give me a chance to get used to designing stuff myself - and I will probably be printing fun bits and pieces for me and my 10 year old nephew! 😅

@@FauxHammer I've backed them with the AMS, so yeah... Price I can understand... But it's comparable to buying a computer to play games and buying a console. Computer can be cheaper, yet the console's more beginner friendly and easier to start with. Now... The computer can be vastly more powerful, no doubt. Yet that either takes a lot more skill, or a lot more money. In the end, the Bambulab saves me a lot of filament through a HELL of a lot less failed prints. Add the vastly superior speed, which allows me to print quicker, it is a viable financial descision for me. But I really encourage you to check out the many reviews (or the videos on my channel) and see for yourself. I would recommend Uncle Jessy's channel, as he had a horrendous time with his. :D
Filament is easier to work with, more durable. Resin is faster to print , much higher details but more complex, more toxic, not durable and smaller print size. So yes you are right but it's more to it.
exactly that, but there's the finish benefit too when it comes to models. FDM prints are full of layer lines, even at the lowest layer heights, resin all but eradicates layers.
Does this level of detail make the Neptune 3 Pro usable for wargaming minis, then? It would be nice not to deal with all the fuss and bother of a resin machine.
Hello. It's seem that nobody here note this : the point zero is not in the center of the bed (is on the right and on the front). During the calibration the head begin outside the bed at right and finish 3 cm into the bed at left. It's very strange. Someone can explain me?
The nozzle is touching the bed. That’s the middle of the print head and the important part to touch the plate. The nozzle is not in the middle of the print head. It’s to the left side
@@khanhangduy8013 that;s the one on the USB Drive, Elegoo's version of Cura, you can use original cura but need to make sure you have created the correct settings for the Neptune 3 Pro

Cool review. I guess filament for large stuff and resin for minis is a good rule to follow?
Absolutely.
It would be nice not to deal with all the fuss and bother of a resin machine.
no, not at all. it;s nowhere near as smooth. the wolverine bust shows the comparison, now imagine that at 1/4 the size!
do you have a problem your printer reboot on middle of printer ,first stop and 5 second after the screen reboot and i lost the printer
eh?
I was thinking on getting the neptune 4 pro but it's not on prusa which annoys me and I hear the neptune 3 pro is great, just not near as fast
I just release my Neptune 4 video. Not Prusa but it is on Orca which is based on Prusa
Did you say it took 3 days to print the space hulk terrain?
Yes, Wel 50 something hours, the completion time is what’s shown in the vid.
Not quite 3 days, but 3 sleeps
Neptune 3 Pro or cobra 2 max?
You like the neptune 3's but don't like the neptune 4's (yes I watched that vid) Arent these all petty much the same? I'm new and dont get this?
i downloaded and copy stl to the micro sd but neptune 3 pro cant read it. what do i need to do?
micro disk? If I knew what you meant i would help.
@@FauxHammer micro sd
@@khanhangduy8013 you need to run it through a slicer programme that's on the included sd to create the file the printer can read
@@FauxHammer oh tks. Can i use cura? I only know this program, i going to learn how to use it.
@@khanhangduy8013 that;s the one on the USB Drive, Elegoo's version of Cura, you can use original cura but need to make sure you have created the correct settings for the Neptune 3 Pro
Where did the IO model come from?
You didnt adjust the bed wheels first
Exactly that
where can i get that wolverine bust?
Search Drafnir Studios
And then 3 days later, I had a completed model. Lol I lost it. Well played.
Eh?
@@FauxHammer He thought you were joking about the print time
Formatting SD Cards with FAT32 shouldn't be an issue, there are several tools for that. I recommend using Rufus in future instead of using the command line =)
Yep, simple when you know a good trusted app. but there was so much fiddleware out there I wasn't sure what to pick.
3 days! you are a martyr to your trade
Check my latest print. 20 days
This looks awesome but the max is hoooooj
You should see what I’m printing on the max at the mo!
What do you mean you didn't get filament?
I didn’t get filament
@@FauxHammer You said in the video that you got a sample
@@handikappad you get a small sample with it, but not enough to do any real testing.
You happen to have a friend named Ryan and Chloe?
Odd question, but I don’t know a Ryan or a Chloe particularly
I just got mine, and ive had 100% no issues whatsoever... you used the wrong filmament, at the wrong temperatures that also was old etc. This is a fantastic printer.
thanks, yeah. I know. that's what i said.
That's literally an ender 3pro lol
Most are lol
but better
Except BETTER!
They’re all the same now from what I have seen
You've got a pretty nasty fungal infection in your thumb mate
plug and play + ELEGOO NEPTUNE 3? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH right.
