The three voices harmonising is pure listening pleasure. Robin and Barry are quite serious about their performance. Maurice is quite the comedian, however his timing is impeccable when it comes to joining in with the harmonies, although his Piano skills are not to be forgotten.
I'm sure the tension was still present but I don't think Barry was provoking Robin. Him and Mo were clowning around, like they've done many times. Robin rarely gets distracted by Mo and Baz when he's singing; he's very focused. But his mind certainly wanders at times, as he has quite often forgotten the words to the songs and will make up words on the fly. A habit that continued. There's a show, I think Melbourne, 74, where Mo got the best of Rob and Robin couldn't keep a straight face.
I've never seen Barry acting like this in a song...and yes, I think he was trying to provoke/distract? Robin. It did not make sense Mo & Baz seemed to be acting like "cats" grooming each other??? silly, not funny. BTW, have never seen Robin forget words and he does some pretty complicated ones (she keeps on coming). Even the incident in 74 that you mentioned....Rob was basically laughing, but did not miss a note or word. I'll bet most singers have forgotten or sub'd words.
Harmony 7, have you ever seen the Gibb lads do "Morning of My Life: in a concert setting? Rob and Mo (Mo especially) spend the entire song, mocking and carrying on, trying to get Barry to laugh or forget his lines. Sometimes it works. This is not meant to "provoke", it is just the lads having fun on stage! They are wonderful jokers. Mo also "acts up" during Barry and Robin singing "NY Mining Disaster 1941". None of it is in a spirit of spitefulness or meanness. They are just three men blessed with a great sense of humor and a love for each other!
+ Harmony Never! Barry has to be the centre of the attention, or he throw the toys out of the pram. He's nearly destroyed the Bee Gees for that. And seriously jeopardized their musical standing, anyway.

Barry and Robin fans gather ‘round. Setting aside everything else, the fact is both Barry and Robin are exceptionally gifted vocally. And Barry said they liked the sound of each other’s voices. Unless you’re being disingenuous, you have to admit this is the case, that they both have unique, extraordinary voices. It’s not a matter of who’s best, it’s a matter of taste. Whose voice you like best, which one does something for you. Or maybe both do. I don’t know about Robin and Mo, but I’m pretty sure if Barry today heard about the fighting over their voices he’d think it was pretty silly. Now for the video. Barry looks really good in those pants. And his voice sounds great. There’s just something about his clear, sweet, gorgeous tone that speaks to me. He’s a huge part of why they’re successful vocally. As for the charge that he’s stoned, I don’t usually notice or know what to label these types of things because I don’t live that type of lifestyle at all. But he does seem like he might be a little out of it. Barry said they were often partaking in things at this stage, and you can see him out of it in other videos, like, for instance, the making of Idea video. And the Barry joking around and being disrespectful to Robin charge. It’s fun to see him joking around. Possibly because he’s out of it. He never does. He’s usually the one straight-faced, refusing to look and laugh. I think people are unnecessarily up in arms about it just because it’s Barry doing it. If it was just Maurice they wouldn’t care. It’s just because it’s Barry, therefore an opportunity to put that darn Barry in his place. I love when Barry shows his humanness, because often he’s perfect. It’s not like it was Robin’s big moment song, aka Joke, and it’s not like Barry didn’t have to smile off Maurice doing the same thing, often. At the end of the day they probably laughed a lot of things off, and they all lived to see another day.

The three voices harmonising is pure listening pleasure. Robin and Barry are quite serious about their performance. Maurice is quite the comedian, however his timing is impeccable when it comes to joining in with the harmonies, although his Piano skills are not to be forgotten.
I agree - Maurice is very talented, he has a large repertoire.

I'm sure the tension was still present but I don't think Barry was provoking Robin. Him and Mo were clowning around, like they've done many times. Robin rarely gets distracted by Mo and Baz when he's singing; he's very focused. But his mind certainly wanders at times, as he has quite often forgotten the words to the songs and will make up words on the fly. A habit that continued. There's a show, I think Melbourne, 74, where Mo got the best of Rob and Robin couldn't keep a straight face.
I've never seen Barry acting like this in a song...and yes, I think he was trying to provoke/distract? Robin. It did not make sense Mo & Baz seemed to be acting like "cats" grooming each other??? silly, not funny. BTW, have never seen Robin forget words and he does some pretty complicated ones (she keeps on coming). Even the incident in 74 that you mentioned....Rob was basically laughing, but did not miss a note or word. I'll bet most singers have forgotten or sub'd words.

Harmony 7, have you ever seen the Gibb lads do "Morning of My Life: in a concert setting? Rob and Mo (Mo especially) spend the entire song, mocking and carrying on, trying to get Barry to laugh or forget his lines. Sometimes it works. This is not meant to "provoke", it is just the lads having fun on stage! They are wonderful jokers. Mo also "acts up" during Barry and Robin singing "NY Mining Disaster 1941". None of it is in a spirit of spitefulness or meanness. They are just three men blessed with a great sense of humor and a love for each other!
+ Harmony Never! Barry has to be the centre of the attention, or he throw the toys out of the pram. He's nearly destroyed the Bee Gees for that. And seriously jeopardized their musical standing, anyway.

"Jingle Jangle" sung by Robin was the song that Stigwood loved from the tapes they sent and that song and that SINGER were what made him decide to manage them.

And yet Stigwood wanted Barry as the frontman, and they chose Barry’s single over Robin’s.

Nothing personal. They, mostly Mo, always chose a couple of songs to clown around with, at each concert. Barry is more involved than usual with this song. It was usually Barry, that Mo tried to distract.

Barry and Robin fans gather ‘round. Setting aside everything else, the fact is both Barry and Robin are exceptionally gifted vocally. And Barry said they liked the sound of each other’s voices. Unless you’re being disingenuous, you have to admit this is the case, that they both have unique, extraordinary voices. It’s not a matter of who’s best, it’s a matter of taste. Whose voice you like best, which one does something for you. Or maybe both do. I don’t know about Robin and Mo, but I’m pretty sure if Barry today heard about the fighting over their voices he’d think it was pretty silly.
Now for the video. Barry looks really good in those pants. And his voice sounds great. There’s just something about his clear, sweet, gorgeous tone that speaks to me. He’s a huge part of why they’re successful vocally.
As for the charge that he’s stoned, I don’t usually notice or know what to label these types of things because I don’t live that type of lifestyle at all. But he does seem like he might be a little out of it. Barry said they were often partaking in things at this stage, and you can see him out of it in other videos, like, for instance, the making of Idea video.
And the Barry joking around and being disrespectful to Robin charge. It’s fun to see him joking around. Possibly because he’s out of it. He never does. He’s usually the one straight-faced, refusing to look and laugh. I think people are unnecessarily up in arms about it just because it’s Barry doing it. If it was just Maurice they wouldn’t care. It’s just because it’s Barry, therefore an opportunity to put that darn Barry in his place.
I love when Barry shows his humanness, because often he’s perfect.
It’s not like it was Robin’s big moment song, aka Joke, and it’s not like Barry didn’t have to smile off Maurice doing the same thing, often. At the end of the day they probably laughed a lot of things off, and they all lived to see another day.
