  • In the first part of a two-part exclusive interview, Sophie Skelton (Brianna Fraser, Outlander) sat down with Reshma Gopaldas at SheKnows to tell us all about her time on the Starz hit show, Outlander, from when she first started to the current season 5 finale, "Never My Love." She talks about what she's learned from her co-stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, who became producers this season. She also reveals she wishes Tobias Menzies could return.

In a round of Marry, Quarantine, Social Distance - we give Sophie 3 of her co-stars and have her pick which she would marry, which she'd quarantine with, and who she'd socially distance from (for their own protection). Let's just say she loves her on-screen Mom, Caitriona Balfe and Dad, Sam Heughan a lot. And if there's whisky there too, why not. She picks co-star Richard Rankin to distance from, only because once Outlander Season 6 returns, they will be spending all their time together again. She also talks about co-stars Lauren Lyle, John Bell, Cesar Domboy in a second round of Marry, Quarantine, Social Distance.
Sophie tells us she watched season 1 of Outlander so many times, that she can't watch it anymore. Her favorite episode is not the fan favorite "The Wedding," in which her on screen parents Jamie and Claire Fraser, played by Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, get married. She loves the one with Blackjack Randall (Tobias Menzies) and Claire Fraser the most.
Skelton admits, like the fans, she also wanted more scenes with Jamie, Claire and Brianna, but Diana Gabaldon's books have so much content so it's hard to fit it all in the show. She chats about what she's learned from both Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. She loves how Claire and Brianna's relationship has progressed since she first started on the show.
Sophie talks about her character's love interest Roger, played by Richard Rankin. She jokes how she and Rankin often argue about which of their characters is right! But admits, they have come a long way in Season 5. She discusses her character's assault in Season 4, at the hands of Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers).
With covid-19, Skelton isn't sure when Outlander will go back into production for Season 6, but has some ideas to get through Droughtlander for the fans. Sam Heughan might not love it though! She also says that new social distancing rules on set, like no love scenes, will definitely not work on their show. Jamie and Claire Fraser are known for their love scenes, so 6 feet apart definitely won't happen.
Stay tuned for part two where Skelton breaks down the Season 5 Outlander finale, “Never My Love."

I agree. He and Claire have a major story line in the next book. He has to return. If not, expect a fan mutiny.
