I don't remember it but, my grandparents had what was called a Delco electric system which used rechargeable batteries for lighting and some other DC current tools for household use less than 25 years before my birth. The delco generator recharged the batteries during the day to provide power for the evening... Which was one of the reasons that until they passed away they were always Roosevelt Democrats due to Roosevelt instituting the rural Electrification Co-oP system... It was on thing that Government got right in early thirties and forties ..
That was about the only thing FDR did for his socialist nation, which latter could be taxed, along with the WPA and the New Deal. I'm sure your grandparents ended the Roosevelt Democrats due to his death in 1945.
still alot of people didnt get electricity until 195O 😮😮 and back then it was only 2 OR 3 dollars a month and most people used 1 room in the house more than other usually the living room or kitchen 😊😊 and most people then listened 2 the radio 📻 all the time 4 the news and the weather 4 cast until the TV 📺 was new then U could watch and listen 👂 2 the TV and most people had telephones or they went next door and they were starting 2 have running water 💦 😊 in the house 🏡 😊 and still had water pumps 1 in the kitchen and 1 outside and alot of them didnt have cups 🥤 then they used drippers 2 drink water 💦 😊 or from a jar and U had 2 put the water in the ice trays 2 make ice I still remember that just like it was yesterday 😊😊 I still can remember when people used ice trays it hasnt been that long ago when I was a kid and growing up and U could go 2 the store and get penny candy 🍬 😊 /😊😊 OMG 2 15 2O24
Isn't it a shame that many people living in the Southern part of the USA in the 50's and early 60's still didn't have indoor plumbing and electricity in their homes. 🤔😒
What is sad, out my way, a lot of folks quit farming and a lot of the fields grew up in brush and scrub trees, now 60 years later every storm nocks our power out because lazy land owners let the right of ways grow up, then complain about power outages. The trees are mostly junk scrubs not worth anything!!!
How wonderful that this classic cooperative film was found and preserved for all to see!
Pura vida great documentary about rural electrification

It would have been a 32 volt system. My dad's parents had the same thing.
So nice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I remember when a lot of people did use 4 & 2 & U to type a statement or a comment and didn't text in short hand, like U had 4 done there.........LOL
Those were the days when a man didn't have to farm half the county to support his family.

Now everybody wants to be off grid.

The Walton family on Waltons moutain had electricity and modern indoor plumbing.
Now days Electronic companies don't secure right away from land owners, THEY JUST TAKE IT !!!
