Del is Ice Cubes cousin, in case this was not stated or known. He had a very a-typical image with his lip ring and such in the 90s. I did, and still enjoy his music. good choice, subbed.
I remember my mind exploding when hearing the rumor that Del was Ice Cube's cousin back in high school. I just couldn't for the life of me believe that 2 completely different emcees (one gangster rap/ one back pack consciousness) were of the same ilk. Dan the Automator is one of the more underappreciated dj's of the 90's/early 2000's. He's had his hands on some of the greatest underground tracks.
@No_Hookshot I'm so new to hip hop, I'm still surprised about MCs being blood relatives. The one that got me was RZA, GZA, ODB, and Flava Flav are first or second cousins.
So glad you did this reaction and you definitely should listen to the whole album for yourself. I would suggest doing a reaction to one of the other singles first just for us fans before listen to the whole album for yourself since you don’t like to edit that much. I personally prefer “Mastermind” as it’s more about Dan the Automator’s character and more upbeat, but “Virus” does have a proper chorus. Side note, I actually saw Deltron 3030 perform with a live band at the House of Blues Hollywood more than 20 years ago, was one of my craziest concert experiences. At some point, bassist came out wearing a Spider-Man costume including full mask for some reason!
Del is one of my favorite rappers of all time!!! There is just something comforting about his flow for me. I love this album. It's a whole story so you kind of have to listen to the whole album to understand what's going on.
IMO the song "3030" is pretty much their magnum opus. They have good songs, but none other really seem to reach the theatrical level that "3030" achieves.
This is the number one or two hip hop album of all time. It's right there with Thug Life. Rhyme ability and delivery, composition of individual tracks and the album as a unit, thematic ground covered and ground-breaking originality/magnum opus. Meant to be played all the way through.
Wait you reacted to this, isntead of Mastermind? Interesting.. You should look more into Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and how work. He has a loooong rich history in hiphop. A widely renowned lyricist.
Dan is such amazing producer. He is responsible for so many great and creative hip-hop work (his beats are awesome, but moreover it's the futuristic vibe of many albums he produced that make him hip-hop innovator), while he is linked more to underground than mainstream and doesn't get enough recognition. Also, Del has great hip-hop voice and his flow is amazing. I love "Between rock and a hard ground" album, done by Artifacts, which Del is 1/2 of, so I can't miss a chance to recommend you "C'mon with da git down" 😉
My favorite song on one of my favorite albums from that decade. Btw, I'm pretty sure we all say "thirty-thirty". I certainly don't say "three thousand thirty"
Yeah every live performance you can find on UA-cam (David Letterman, KEXP. etc) they're announced as "Thirty Thirty" so just because Del says "three thousand thirty" in the title song, it doesn't mean that song's lyrics are the de facto nomenclature for the band name.
Awesome video! I love Deltron 3030! The song: Things You Can Do is an amazing song! I have requested that. I look forward to you reacting to that song! I have another request, could you react to: Birth Pains by The Light Sleepers? They are an extremely underground hip-hop group from Hawaii. I think you will love them! Thank you so much!!! I love your content!
Thanks, Brian! I'm above the age maximum to figure out how to set up Patreon or Twitch or whatever it takes to livestream. It sounds exhausting just thinking about it.🤪🤪
@ABoomerReacts As far as 80's pop music, it's my favorite as far as radio hits as being the last decade to have quality hits on the radio. I never really got into (House) music. I did like some of the New Wave stuff. I thought you were going to give me 60's or 70's and 80's as being the decade of your genres of music? They certainly were my favorite decades for music, and I'm probably 20 years younger born in the mid 70's. I'll eventually recommend some high-quality things from those eras. 👍
@@lyndellwilliams5890 My parents never played the radio in the house - for no reason - they just didn't. I didn't start hearing the radio until I started to drive my own car - '72 - '73. That's when I started to love Linda Ronstadt, Natalie Cole, Bette Midler, Janis Ian, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John. But the 80's was my decade.
Does he do any cross over stuff on his albums with any of the other members of Gorillaz?
I'm not that knowledgeable but I pinned your question. Maybe someone who knows will answer.
Yes and it's on a Dan Remix Album.
This album is nuts! It feels like a futuristic 80s anime about a quest to save hip hop. There was nothing else like it at the time.
first time Ive seen anyone react this banger of a song. Love it!

Thanks for the sub! Yes, I knew about the relation because I did a bio on Del when I reacted to Hieroglyphics. I loved At The Helm.
Hey, boo. Cool shirt. 😂 Dope incredible song. I played this song many times in the ride and headphones. Great album overall.

Thanks, Justin. That's what I might end up doing. (Did Deltron Zero kick Spiderman's ass?)

I think I will on my own time after I react to Things You Can Do and/or Mastermind. Thoughts?
Del the funky homosapiens !
One of the top MC's on the West Coast
Great reaction Boomer 💥

They have good songs, but none other really seem to reach the theatrical level that "3030" achieves.
Thanks for letting me know, Jeff. "Theatrical" is the right word.
We need a Charizma or Seagram reaction! You should take a look at "Birth" by Seagram and "Methods" by Charizma. REST IN POWER TO BOTH OF THEM 🕊️🌹
Thanks! Those are both new names for my list.

Sorry! 3030 was more popular on my list. I've reacted to Hieroglyphics but not a solo Del song. Can you suggest one?
Yes!! This is my favourite Del album!

Good news! That song is on my list as my next Artifacts reaction. Hopefully I can schedule it for late October.
Lovage is amazing. Patton, Charles, Koala and Automator. Got to see them live in NYC like 20 years ago.

Thank you! Things You Can Do is def on my list and I'll add Birth Pains.
Classic 💯
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Be sure to check out "Positive Contact" as well, at least that's my favourite song from this record 👌
Thanks! That's def on my list.
Time Traveled back to 2003, just came back to comment.
Now where are you going?
I’m not sure if you’re aware that him and Ice Cube are cousins. His verse he did with The Gorillaz on their song was good
Yes, I talked about Del and Ice in my reaction to At the Helm. Yes, I love "Clint Eastwood" but my favorite Gorillaz song is "19/2000".
You should set up a Patreon or something and do full album live streams, no editing. I think we all call this “thirty thirty”
Thanks, Brian! I'm above the age maximum to figure out how to set up Patreon or Twitch or whatever it takes to livestream. It sounds exhausting just thinking about it.🤪🤪
You should react to "Everything Gonna C Alright" by Nationwide Rip Ridaz (They also go by Crips)
Thanks! That's my first request for them.
Have you reacted to Blade Icewood? Hes from the early 2000s. R.I.P. to him 🕊️
I haven't reacted to him. He's not even on my request list. Did you want to suggest a song by him?
@@ABoomerReacts "All To You" is a really good one
@@ThaHomieLamont Thanks, Lamont! I'll add it to my list.
I see you liked this, and what is your favorite genre of music? I could possibly make you even more of a happy person???
My favorite genres are 80's New Wave and 90's house.

@ABoomerReacts There's just something about the 80's even going beyond music that keeps me wanting to get in a time machine and go back.
@@lyndellwilliams5890 When you do, look for me. I'll be 23.
Yo! Could you react to "Can You Feel Me" by Fo' Clips Eclipse?
Thanks! I'll add it to my list. My first request for them.
