I was a just a social-science major at the one that goes by its initialism, though the other's business school is known as GS[B] for some reason: which is short for Graduate School of Business. The obvious simpler way of doing 7 to the power of 3 is 7^2 = 49, but by rounding, 50*7 = 350, and subtracting 7 = 343.

I think he was doing a public v. private, and UCLA is now harder to gain entry to than B; the former accepts ~ 2,000 less students, who have better stats, and its admit rate is < 10%, at ~8.7%. Caltech is the hardest school to gain entry to in the nation, maybe the world, but it takes a special ~self-selecting type of student, with probably the most genius-type students of all the world, but it's not for any- nor everyone who might have the stats/qualifications.
