I really recommend you guys to try the congee with century egg and minced pork (my favorite) or experiment with different types of rice and colors, like black rice or purple rice congee is really yummy with add ins like datils or peanuts. I always wanted to try the porridge from Mulan! Seeing this now I really think I'm going to have to try it 😋 For some reason I also really wanted to try the pizza in Lilo & Stitch, not sure why but it always looked so much more delicious than "our" pizza 😂
Porridge is oats and milk cooked together in a saucepan to make a slightly wet consistency and is a is very yummy. You can make it with whatever milk you want or if you want you can cook it with water too. Some people cook it in the microwave too for 3 minutes. The oats are supposed to soak up the liquid and for a slight weird lumpy texture and form. I recommend porridge with honey and to top it off with any type of nut and fruit you love
Just a tip I’ve heard. Stir the rice continually so it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the container and heats evenly. Eventually the rice absorbs the water.

My American dad even learned how to make it for me because I loved it! I always had it plain but typically you add all sorts of toppings! I love u guys and this is super cool to see other cultural food ❤
In England porridge is like creamy oats and I usually have it with golden syrup/ honey. I usually have it before my rowing heads in the winter because it is very filling and it is served hot. I didn’t know that it isn’t a thing in America?!

Good rule of thumb is 5 cups of water (or chicken stock) to 1 cup of uncooked rice and stir every 15-20 minutes until it’s thickened.
