Just picked up the Breeding and Growing courses. I am definitely interested to see what you discover about homemade fish feed! Thank you for making this content available. Enjoy France and your baby girl!
I'm always happy to see a new upload from you. Thank you for sharing all of this information so freely. Congratulations on the baby - sleeping is overrated anyway 😉
Awesome video. I have been raising rainbow trout in a homemade RAS aquaculture system for years. I love it. I am in Utah(United States). You do a good job on your channel!
Very cool. I shut down my aquaponics system to focus on creating feed. I definitely want to do this when I'm ready. Is eating the extra row advisable, and would it create enough to share . Thx.
Yes you can definitely eat the eggs too. I made a video about it on the channel "Trout Caviar". And yes, they produce a lot so depending on the number of genitors you can offer some fingerlings and caviar around :)
When I was at school about 25 years ago my Dr of biology teacher said if you freeze/super chill the eggs at a certain stage it prevents something forming in them as usual and as a result they then convert food to bodymass at some insane rate making them grow much faster and more efficiently, is this true? I assume it is.
kind of, there are techniques to block a polar globe inside the egg and get a triploïd stock. then the trout will not make eggs and will grow way faster when they reach 2 years and more. this is used to make all the large trout fillets you will find in supermarkets.
salut jonathan!!!!felictation pour votre petite fille!!!! le jour ou vous revenez en france je pense qu un bon nombre d entre nous prendrons contact.merci de partager tout se que vous faite.en attendant prenez soins de vous.
First of all thanks for uploading these videos you have inspired me to give aquaponics a go. Forgive me if this has been covered in a video, but have you explored using small fish that you.have raised/bred yourself as feed for trout? For example the surplus fingerlings or a small species such as minnow? Thanks again for the informative content.
Yes I have, The holistic aquaponics has a mangrove area and is home to some little gambusia which breed freely and are prey to the trout. The population goes up and down but they still around :)
Yes, and I have a little system to grow them but I am not really really convinced. I am working on another insect to feed the fish and will share a video when ready 💋😉
Dose the female survive after the eggs are harvested? I have a blue trout in my pond that's just produced eggs but now she's not looking good or eating.
Hi! I'm trying to find the Trout Breeding and Growing course but can't find it on your website, any chance you can point me in the right direction? Thanks!
Hi James, thanks for your message, here is the link to the breeding trout training: melbourneaquaponics.clickfunnels.com/breeding-trout-order-page And growing trout training: melbourneaquaponics.clickfunnels.com/trout-training-order-page See you on the other side :)
I have a question! Someone told me that "massaging" the female trouts to get the eggs, actually damage or "hurt" them in some way. Is this true? 🤔 Or this doesn't harm them at all?
Hi Jorge, to be honest no-one really knows what the fish feel. However, I can tell you that I have seen trout bleeding when the stripping was not done properly so it can definitely be detrimental for the fish. If done nicely I believe it's fine but it's just my point of view.
@@AquaponicsRevolution I thought so too, I just really like salmon. Theres an american aquaponics farm in Florida called Homegrownshrimpusa & they farm saltwater prawn on a huge scale and purify/salinate etc. all of their water in-house. I thought combining these two styles of aquaponics on a smaller scale might be feasible, very interesting to me. Cheers aswell
An easier way to catch fish would to be to empty the stock tank to where the fish are turning sideways and can't swim around the whole tank mostly just flopping around.
congratulations 🎉🎊🎈🍾 on your new baby girl!!!
Thank you so much 😀

Awesome! Thank you Ryan! There is a lot to do about homemade fish feed but what I am working on is very promising :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! 😄 It's true, who needs sleep when you have a baby, right? 🍼👶💤😂

Thank you mate, highly appreciated :)
Very interesting!
Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback 😊
great work!
Thank you 😊

I'd like to see your filtration for this setup, I'm about to expand into swimming pools like this.

Wow, great work! Would this work for different species of fish such as tilapia?I want to do something like this too.Congratulations!!!
@@HK-zg7zp tilapia can definitely be in a aquaponics system only temperature is the issue if you are living on a colder continent
So trout like cold water how do u keep the water below 70 degress ?
How do you maintain temperatures? What country or state do you live? Can I do this in Northern California?
Have you used or considered meal worms to feed your fish??

@@AquaponicsRevolutionworms 🐛 from a compost pile ?? Trout love worms and you can breed them fast in a compost pile .

One way to feed fhem is to put tilapia they breed every 21 days plenty of food for the trout

@@AquaponicsRevolution I guess that if you haven't seen any damage on the fish, it should be just fine! thanks for the reply! :D
What happens if we don't breed are trout?
Hi, not sure to understand your question about breeding trout
do you think it'd be unrealistic to farm salmon in a similar way?
I think Salmon need to move in saltwater after the smolt stage. you could grow some in aquaponics but it is way easier with rainbow trout.
Cheers

Sure thing however I am not very keen only losing all this water :)
