    Welcome to a lighthearted look at my minimalism journey! As a digital nomad I just have one suitcase of belongings and so that means there are a LOT of things I can't/don't buy. I thought it'd be fun to look at fifty random things that I can't own which I travel full time. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you so much for watching, and of course don't forget to subscribe!

    ↣ Are you a full time UA-camr?
    I work full time online as a 'Digital Nomad' which means I get to travel the world with my fiance (Ed) and not be tied to living in any specific country. I do Freelance PR, teach courses on Udemy (check out my profile here - www.udemy.com/u/louisecroft/) and of course blogging and UA-cam.
    ↣ When did you start blogging?
    I created my blog in 2012 when I was living in America. I was thrifting so much that I wanted to start sharing my outfits online and inspiring other people to look in charity shops. Now it's become all about my Digital Nomad journey and what it's like to be a female nomad.
    ↣ Where's your accent from?
    I'm from the South of England but I currently live out of a suitcase travelling all over the world.
    ↣ Where is your favourite place in the world?
    I fell deeply in love with Gili Air when we visited as a paradise getaway, but Chiang Mai is my favourite place to live. Plus of course, there's no place like home (Dorset in England).

    I would love to live somewhere that I won’t need a car . Car insurance and car maintenance it’s just crazy . Recently I been applying some form of minimalism . I don’t buy unnecessary stationery supplies, clothes or home decor . I’m still working on cutting things out . Thank you for sharing 🤗

      Yes it's so nice to be able to walk places! We often pay more to be close to the cowork/town centre. Commuting in a car definitely kills my motivation!! Sounds like you've got a great balance :D

    Brilliant list Louise! I just spent half an hour trying to find out why the light bulb wasn't working in my sauna. I used a multimeter to test the new bulbs (I had bought a pack of ten) which said they were OK, so I then used my soldering iron to put an extra blob on the end of the screw since maybe it wasn't reaching the end contact. Finally fixed it by wiggling the bulb sideways. Great example of the time and the objects required when you have a house!

      Haha!! So so true. Although I am pretty jealous of a private sauna! But yes - all the time you regain from not having to maintain/tidy/buy/sell belongings is pretty amazing :)

    I loved this video! Such a unique perspective into a minimalist lifestyle. I totally respect your ability to live this way. Even though I’m not yet a digital nomad, I am working on paring down my life. I did recently “Marie Kondo” a lot of my clothes and books and it was so empowering!

    Love this video idea because when you're out there I never think of this, but makes sense, even random things like coat hangers! I'd miss my salt lamp 😂 It's the only thing I miss when I travel but not very hand luggage friendly haha. And I'm really old fashioned so I'd need to get into 2019 with Kindles etc (you're definitely convincing me I need one!) xoxo

    It's easy to be minimal when you have to lug it all around 😊 it must be hard at times, by I bet the sense of adventure and being in new places is a worth while trade! We have a bit more in our van, as we "keep" a tiny house. But not much fits. Lol

    Cool Video!
    I do not own: Fitnessmembership, a watch, a tablet or kindle or ipad, a car, and many other things but im too tired to write them all down.
    Tipp for next video: try to blink less and maintain eye contact with the camera more, but it´s maybe just my personal opinion, if its just your style just stay with it. Just be you. Thats fine, don´t put on an act just because someone tells you. :)

      I don't agree, I think more eye contact would be creepy. I like Louise's conversational style, it's like you're there chatting with her. Anyway, 21,000 subscribers says it all. Louise, you rock!

    I am trying to be a seasonal worker, which is a semi-nomadic lifestyle. One big issue I've had with starting is that friends and family have given me various gifts throughout my life that they expect me to keep. I've already had cousins, friends, and my grandma ask "you're not getting rid of (insert gift here) are you?" I dont want to feel guilty, but many of these items collect dust even when I have a home, so they feel useless to keep. How do you get rid of the sentimental items without guilt?

    • @digitalnomadgirl
      @digitalnomadgirl  5 років тому

      Yes I totally agree! It takes a while for people to adapt to what you want for gifts. I generally take a photo of something if I don't want to forget it. But I do also have some sentimental things at my parent's house. I find people are more understanding when I say that I literally physically can't keep it because I only have one suitcase - e.g. we got zero wedding presents because we said we honestly had nowhere to put them. Mostly I probably just wouldn't tell people I was getting rid of something - eeep! I hope that helps!

    I’m really trying to get rid of more of my stuff, but I feel like it’s so hard, cause I’m always making up excuses to not get rid of it

    • @digitalnomadgirl
      @digitalnomadgirl  5 років тому

      Oh I TOTALLY relate! I find it really helpful to have a friend some round and help - they really motivate you to be more ruthless! Have you read Marie Kondo?

    I know this wouldn't be something you'd have to carry around, but I was just curious, what do you do about health insurance? Do you have some kind of insurance that covers you in other countries?

    • @digitalnomadgirl
      @digitalnomadgirl  5 років тому

      Hello! I am actually working on a big video about that right now :) In the past I've booked with World Nomads, Alpha, and some others but I know a lot of people use Safety Wing so I'm looking into them now. Let me know if you've got specific questions because I want to cover a lot of FAQs in the video!

    I would love to be a digital nomad but I think it gets harder with age. Especially if you want to start a family.

    • @digitalnomadgirl
      @digitalnomadgirl  5 років тому +1

      Yes that is true. Although a lot of people travel with kids - e.g. the Green School in Bali is very popular, and I know Costa Rica is popular with nomad families. But it definitely makes things more tricky! If you want it then it is possible for you though :)

      @@digitalnomadgirl you are totally right :) one just needs to want something and work towards it to make it happen. By the way I loved your udemy course on being a blogger. I am slowly working on things behind the scene. Super helpful information.
