    I've been 9 times now. So privileged to see the opening night last May and also the 1st year anniversary show a few months back. I still get goosebumps, especially at the opening. The Visitors is a perfect song to open this Jaw-dropping, amazing show. Only ABBA could pull this off as their music is timeless, feelgood and appeals to all generations. They are the best pop group ever and probably forever ❤

    Digital Abbatars not holograms. I was a '70's teen ABBA fan and unfortunately missed them touring the USA in 1979, one of my life regrets. 40 years later the band reunites with a new album and concert like no other. First time watching and listening to new song I Still Have Faith In You I didn't make it half way and burst out in tears of joy, cried like a baby....this sudden outburst took me by surprise and since then have learned the same happened to fans all across the globe, simply amazing ! So I was bound and determined I was going to see the Voyage concert and last fall I made the trip to London for this purpose only. Attended the show 3 times and acquired much Voyage merchandise. All this has helped fulfill that void of regret. ABBA open the show with one of my fav songs The Visitors, which would have been my choice for an opening number, and it was breath taking, thrilling....loved it ! I will go see Voyage again when it comes to America.

    Agree. It's amazing. I saw it just over a month ago, and my brain could hardly cope. It was like standing inside an IMAX 3D movie. I wore a knitted ABBA vest I'd asked my boss to buy for me when she went last year, and I got so many compliments for it. Apparently, it's sold out :O
    I need to see it again, so I can REALLY soak it all in, 'cause, as I said, my brain didn't really cope.

    ABBA has realised a truth about music shows. Very few people at a live show are close enough to tell that the people on stage are actually who they paid to see. It does not matter. People like to gather with others who like the same thing and share the experience. This explains to a certain extent why people watch football in pubs. But it is magnified by listening to MUSIC. It does not matter that a Tribute Band is not the original artists as long as the music sounds good. ABBA has built an Arena where their music can be heard and shared by like minded fans. The music is of course perfect. The Arena is ideal. The ABBAtars, while by no means perfect, are "good enough". The light show is spectacular. There is also a fantastic live backing group and singers.
    I am looking forward to my SIXTH visit in November.
    There is a misconception that the London show has to finish before it is moved. Not so. Multiple ABBA Arenas can be built around the world for a fraction of the original cost. The ABBAtars can be cloned. Any problems with the Arena build have been solved (and improved upon). Any city, seeing the tourist attraction, would almost beg to have one and it would bring employment for builders, staff and musicians.

      There is no reason (apart from cost) that they cannot clone the Arena and show. Cheaper to build new than move the existing one. Theoretically there could be an ABBA Arena simultaneously in every country in the world. They would just need to recruit a new live band and singers.

    • @Joekeegans
      @Joekeegans 8 місяців тому

      @@chriss2452I’ll say “most” not all. But “most” holograms are, digitally created or recreated. These are digitally enhanced people. So ABBA the band spent two or more weeks in a studio with motion capture material and software on themselves. Basically, they performed every single song as themselves in front of a camera and the software that made them into the self proclaimed “ABBA-tars” projected their image today into their image in their prime. So every movement, facial expression, glance, twitch, step, click you name it! It’s actually them, recorded a couple of years back especially for this show. Which differs from a few holograms, for example Freddie Mercury at the 2012 Olympic Closing ceremony that was a video of him, re-rendered to high definition and the background taken out with a few visual effects added to create an atmosphere that he was there. Difference is this wasn’t a video from their prime cut and pasted into modern day, this is them a few years back pouring their souls into one last performance. I hope that clears things a little :))

    for my 50th birthday. This show is unbelievable. The stage part is truly lifelike, whatever tech they are using to do it. The big screens look CGI, but the whole package is outstanding. I was hit emotionally too and I can’t quite work out why. They could leave it in London forever and it would just keep printing money. They should replicate it in all major cities of the world, not move it.

    When Simon Fuller, the Spice Girls manager, first approached ABBA with the initial idea, they quickly dismissed holograms and them appearing on a TV special. They'd seen previous hologram efforts with Tupac, Whitney, Elvis and Roy Orbison and none of them truly impressed. ABBA instead opted for a different technological approach and to do it in a live concert setting as well. There is a 10 piece live band playing alongside the ABBA figures. This is on a whole new level of illusion awesomeness.
    But as you say, why this show works so well is that you get emotionally effected by it instead of simply marvelling at how they pulled it off. I'd disagree on one point. ABBA have not simply sat back on this project. They've been fully invested from the start in creating the avatars themselves and don't forget, they recorded an entire new album alongside. When you go to this show, you can tell that they've really gone for it big time and not half hearted. They have also taken a gamble with much of financial backing for this project coming from themselves. The show in London wont even break even until the third year. ABBA were always quite innovative when it came to the production and sound quality side of things. It's incredible that these four septuagenarians still strove to create something so ground breaking.

    The only city in North America under consideration to build another Voyage Arena is Las Vegas. Bjorn has stated this in many interviews at the beginning of this year. He also said there are Site negotiations going on and an announcement will be forthcoming before Christmas. Finally..Avatars or Abbatars are definitely not Holograms. Entirely different process in technology. You can research "Industrial Light and Magic " to learn how this was done. For one. Avatars require the person to be alive. To capture their entire body movement digitally with hundreds of cameras and tons of computer equipment . Holograms use old footage of deceased persons act and recreate that visual so it appears to be live. Like Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston and others that have past. See, you can't ask a dead celebrity to talk to you or sing a song they never performed live. . But you can with an Avatar. Thats is precisely what makes Abbas Avatars so convincing. 😊👍🇸🇪❤

    A few corrections. #1 Not Not Not Halograms. Digital Motion Capture to be exact. Huge difference. #2 The Venue will not be moved around. Much to complicated to make this happen. They have a lease thru 2026 and are negotiating to become a permanent attraction in London. #3 The two new locations for a second and third Arena are Las Vegas and Melbourne. This is per Svana Gisle and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Glad you enjoyed the Show. 🇸🇪

    ABBA have a connection with London. Mamma Mia started there and Voyage was always going to be there. They've basically admitted that the London show is now permanent. It has a 99% attendance rate and pulls in $2 million a week from one venue. London is one of the easiest cities to visit on earth and Europeans can go there as an overnight trip or spend a few days visiting everything else. The show is a stroke of genius in the perfect city.

They would need to recruit and train new live musicians but that is easily done. Perhaps they do not want to involve investors.
