GM11a The Messianic Entry

At this point in the historical narrative we now see Christ entering Jerusalem to complete His earthly ministry by being crucified and resurrected for us. In the first phase of Mark's gospel we saw Jesus establishing His identity as Messiah, and in the next phase we see Jesus directly explaining to His disciples what is the work of Messiah, and now with Him entering Jerusalem; He is completing the work of Messiah.
