Here too, mine were pulled with Nak shotguns fob and were phenomenal as well, great low end and the roars of the crowd were wonderful. Being my first show I had to get the healy boards too but the crowd sourced ones were where the goose pimples were 😀 I still have them as well as a SBD of the CSN set. Peace.
@@robertcollins5808 mine too - first show was the 85 Kaiser in Oakland and the last was 95 at Shoreline, but the run from 87-90 was it for me. So many great shows and The JGB was lighting it up during those years too. After Brent I was a little more into the JGB shows and the Garcia/Grisman performances. The Vince years were just too spotty and often lackluster imo
I can't believe you described him as being "full of sparks" - agreed. I remember him popping straight up off of his bench like he was hit by an electric shock!
This was the first Grateful Dead concert I was allowed to travel to. I was 17. I had been a fan since I was 14, trading tapes and getting my hands on as much material to absorb from home, with friends, and out having fun. What a great show! I still had so many roads to come, and I feel gratitude for each and every one of them, the rainy mud-pits, the sun scorchers, and all of the ups and downs in between. The greatest times of my life and a taste of true freedom.
This show was really good, and I'm really happy to see this, as it's a serious upgrade over the other video of the same show. I'm stunned that I'm seeing it in such good quality, after all these years. I spent set one in front of the band, and set two from the tapers' section. Such a good time.
He's great. And he added a neccessary vocal harmony to the band. At the same time though, I prefer Keith's time in the band..in my opinion he was with them during their greatest period (although one could argue that Tom Constantin was actually with them during their greatest run). I think I like the fact that Keith employed an actual Grand Piano rather than using a keyboard constantly. I love the sound of the piano far more than an electric keyboard (though I do like an organ sound too - like the one that Ray Manzerek of the Doors used!).
@@wangson Huge fan of Keith, in general. But yeah, his use of the grand was awesome. Reminds me of Billy Powell’s use of the grand on some of Skynard’s live jams.
A beautiful summer day in Upstate NY. Drove up from Ithaca with some friends to see my 2nd show. My first was the famed Knickerbocker show on 3-24-90, but this was the one the really "got me on the bus" as they say! The Sugar-into-Scarlet is IMMORTAL, IMHO.
That Knickerbocker show was what got me into the Dead when I went to smoke with my friend Ben, Freshman year college, and he played the newly released Dozin' triple album. Then he told me his friend Kevin was coming over with some shrooms. We played it back to back a few times. Sucks I was too young when the Dead were active to go see them.
Without a doubt the best concert experience of my life , and I've seen a thousand if I've seen one .Inside and out of the stadium, we'd been embraced and primed for takeoff .From the Unbroken Chain of balloons to the set list , down to those funny little scraps of paper people were passing around , there was Magik in the air and community on Shakedown Street .CSN for an OPENING ACT ?? Are you freakin' kidding me ? It was obvious they were having a blast as well, . I swear , by Drums/Space people were looking to the stars expecting the Mothership to arrive and take us away .Uncle Bobo said ''There's NOTHING like a Grateful Dead show'' , and he never lied , but this was a Master Jewel in the Crown .I can now only thank those craftsmen/artists that have now provided us this keepsake of a precious memory .
To quote bill Graham ... To There is nothing like a grateful dead show and this show with Brent they are having a good time ... When I die put speakers by my head blasting the grateful dead so my soul can dance to the dead forever blessed be namaste george
I'm 20...super sweet on this gal...says..we go to Buffalo to se the Dead. everyone was talking about Mr. Garcia wearing shorts....big talk about that.... and they played Wharf Rat...I saw Wharf Rat.....I saw them once, but I really really enjoyed the ride. grateful.
Grew up a metal head but caught on to the dead around this time Some of the best times of my life were tripping out and getting to see the boys! Very special music.l feel blessed to have experienced it. Still love metal and the dead. Guess I'm a metal dead.
You weren't the only one. There was a 5 night Mardi Gras run in Oakland. A group of us drove up from LA in my car. I told them we had to skip the last night because I had work. After the 4th show we drove 400 miles in the middle of the night. I didn't have work though. I had Cannibal Corpse tickets. They were not happy when they found out about my ruse. Worth it.

Ah, 1990, the year that changed my music genres for the better; took a long strange trip @ McNichols arena Denver, Fall '90! Never looked back at top 40 stations... Thanks to the GD... And I'm still "enjoying the RIDE"!🖤🙋🏾♂️
This is shortly before our friend Brent died. I remember the day very well in New York City with my girlfriend. I cried, she thought I was a pussy. It took a while but Welnick and Hornsby picked up the shoes but it took two. At times Brent could ramble like every member… Except Jerry! He forgot lyrics but never went off point. Brent was such a great addition to the band after Keith. I've been listening to these songs for so many years and I always discover something new. That's the magic of the grateful dead is the intense layering of harmonies and notes, syncopation. From Big Pen to Jerry, rest and peace and thank you for the best music of my life.
Was there with 2 close friends, Mike and Kevin. Had no tickets but was blessed when we arrived (bogus tickets, you're welcome Kevin :-). Camped in a convenient store back lot with sharp rocks galore. Selling balloons for the kiddies. Brent came out and watched CSN. Was down in front the 1st set (you can see me in the tie dye shirt), moved all the way to the back, top of the stadium for the 2nd set. When they sang the line 'truckin up to Buffalo' that place was deafening.
I was at this show. It was amazing and I still remember the dress I wore.... The most amazing shooting star shot across the width of the stadium after dark. (Yes, an actual shooting star.) RIP Brent.
Torgo1969 Yes, there was a brief window when the Cold War coming to a close and things (at least on the surface) seemed to be getting stable and peaceful. The Summer 1990 now seems a beautiful place.
So much love for Brent....and thanks, too. "I Will Take You Home" saved my life when I was going through some dark times. I had a little one at the time, and hearing that woke me the fuck up to what I was doing to myself...
What a fun and vibrant show! Jerry and Brent, I miss you both terribly every time I see you. Sounds crazy, but true. Thank you, Dave for digging up this one!
My go to show to put on the projector and sound getting back to camp when the musics over at festivals it always gathers a crowd as it did in buffalo. Love this show so much. Only a long trip could explain the graditude i have for this show especially the video. For those of us to young to witness the deads love seeing you guys have so much fun gives me alot of hope.

That jerry to brent nod at 2:25:40 makes the hair stand up. Phil just crushing that bass, brent wailing the organ, and i think jerry approved it all. This is as good as it gets.
They were really hot in 1990, played a ton of great shows. It did change after Brent, even though Bruce could coax a good show out of Jerry from time to time. Man, some great memories...
You know Jerry is enjoying the gig, man loved that song and they played it very seldom. And all the gigs that I have heard and have high times Jerry is ripping it.
I remember it was so hot....I was so dosed, I was on the floor, which was packed...I did that whole summer tour....this show was great, I ll never forget it....thx for post
I had to watch this again. Such a fun time all day. Woke up the next morning and some how drove to Great Woods in MA. to see the Allman Brothers the following night.
Great show. Brent man. I think after his death (37 - he wasn't a baby, but he was still really young to be dying) members of the Dead (Jerry?) said he didn't want to have to do time in the joint for his DWI's, It's a damn shame. He was really the perfect player/vocalist for that band. I wonder if he would have thought (I doubt it) that people listening to the Dead 30 years after his departure from this planet would appreciate him so greatly. .
I saw Bent save some shows when everyone else was off. If he lived for five more years, "Blow Away" would have become a 10+ minute bleacher rap like Pigpen used to do with "Love Light".
Jeezuz Are you fkn sayin' he OD'd cuz he was too big of a pussy to get locked up for DUIs well fk! I got 6 yrs for felonious assault and i was 35 went i went in and had 3 kids. That was a total cop out dude WOW, WTF, I JST LOST MAD RESPECT FOR HIM, and im a major fan, but daaaamn not a real man!
Jerry's solo on the second set Scarlet is smokin'. The Wheel out of Space is magical. Whole damn show is so well played. One of my very favorites and I'm mainly an early 70's fan.
First and best show! What a day. Hot as blazes. Thruway rest stops full of Heads all the way from Albany. Road to the stadium backed up for miles. CSN opener was excellent. Met a taper on the floor, and a few weeks later had boots from the show that I've listened to hundreds of times! RIP Danny Harkin.
drove across the state from the Hudson Valley to catch this show with a deadline to be at work by 10:00a.m. the following day. Yikes! 23 hours later, I was clocked in and on the floor. What a trip! Stopped in Ithaca to make t-shirts to sell in the bazaar as we were driving to it, still have one. One of the most memorable shows I ever attended for so many reasons - not least for the music which had the band on fire. Oh, and Jerry, in shorts, blasting away! Sugar>Scarlet? Yes, Please... One visual i recall is that of a female Head who had climbed up on top of one of the porta-potties lining the opposite end zone from the stage (no idea why or how, or if she had nose plugs...) doing the "round and round" during Loose Lucy... Classic!
“Hell in a Bucket”: either one of the drummers is messin up/not enough coffee, or their monitors weren’t turned up. So the beat in the middle jam section is backwards… and the band makes the most of it….to be the most fired up rockin “Hell” I’ve ever heard! Then the “Mississippi” is energetic and phenomenal !

Peace.
@@noturnleftunstoned72 I'd like to get a copy of the CSN set if you can swing it
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Do you know where America is mentioned in the Bible ???????
I had the whole show on VHS until my sister recorded over it.
Bittersweet. Brent playing his soul bare and so soon after he's gone. But hot damn 87-90 was full of sparks!!! Many thanks and be well friends
Totally agree....That was my zone 87-90.....Loved it!!!!!

That summer was a magical time for sure! Saw the whole summer tour that year as graduation gift to myself having just graduated from high school!
Nice gift
Wise kid for sure
This was the first Grateful Dead concert I was allowed to travel to. I was 17. I had been a fan since I was 14, trading tapes and getting my hands on as much material to absorb from home, with friends, and out having fun. What a great show! I still had so many roads to come, and I feel gratitude for each and every one of them, the rainy mud-pits, the sun scorchers, and all of the ups and downs in between. The greatest times of my life and a taste of true freedom.
Amen...I was right there beside you:)
Still am...strange how this works
That's exactly the point. Freedom and more and more of it
Amen Boss!!!
@@0Mremen Funny. We are probably all close in age. Old in body... But young in Spirit. Like yesterday. 😃 😊 😀

One of my best shows, love you!
You could not be replaced. RIP Brett. Loved you so and the way you played to your daughter before you left us, nothing but true love.
I love shows like this with Phil higher in the mix!
The PHIL ZONE 🤯🤯🤯
This show was really good, and I'm really happy to see this, as it's a serious upgrade over the other video of the same show. I'm stunned that I'm seeing it in such good quality, after all these years. I spent set one in front of the band, and set two from the tapers' section. Such a good time.
I'm a 70's head, but Brent kills.
Respect
BRENT-HEAD here. I’m addicted to these late 80s-1990 videos.
@@z1205 The more and more i listen to his playing, the more i think hes one of the best organ players ever.
I swear , by Drums/Space people were looking to the stars expecting the Mothership to arrive and take us away .Uncle Bobo said ''There's NOTHING like a Grateful Dead show'' , and he never lied , but this was a Master Jewel in the Crown .I can now only thank those craftsmen/artists that have now provided us this keepsake of a precious memory .
hi
This truly was an awesome show. Can’t believe how many people fit inside of Rich Stadium. :-)

Just watch Phil as much as humanly possible on this one!!!😊😊😊😊
Grew up a metal head but caught on to the dead around this time
Some of the best times of my life were tripping out and getting to see the boys!
Worth it.
You too huh?
Awesome brother.....Never too late to hook onto the boys......

this is where I ended up after a long hitch hike with a friend, Greg, from the National Rainbow Gathering in northern Minnesota, it was one helluva trip getting to this show! I finished the tour then went to the Ithaca Rainbow Gathering, after which, I hitched back to Colorado...Good times!
Brent is rocking
Thank you, thank you. Brent, you’re always with us.....
Jerry Garcia RIP. Honestly One The Best Musicians Ever.
RIP Brent ♥
One of my first and most played tapes back when I had tapes. The sugar-scarlet with the Truckin’, ship of fools, gimme some loviin’ etc, this one was one that got me on the bus. I can’t wait to see the video! Home run pick, David Lemieux!
David Lemieux did I ever meet u ? Did u come to this place where I live ? I know a lot about the boys that I can’t write , so I’m just wondering
I could watch a loop of all the times Brent sang Blow Away played over and over again for the rest of my life!😢R.I.P. It was a great show though, and a great last memory of him. Thanks for posting this show❤🎼🎶🎵
For those of you that don’t know it….(yet)……this is so fk beautiful
I'm from NYC,, the 1st " Hes Gone " after Brett passed was at MSG
Syncopation =supplication:)
@@1369buddy They tried Gimme Some Lovin' once after he died, at MSG, it was fucking depressing. Tune was scrapped.
Absolutely captured this perfect. This was a time when digital photography wasn't a thing. No cell phones for most of us. Thanks
All The buffalo show were outstanding, i saw then all. It was just a short trucking down to buffalo from Geneva NY

Drove from Ithaca with some college buds that day. Finger Lakes FTW!
Buffalo always brought the best out in the band.

Jerry and Brent both knew how to nod.😅
They were really hot in 1990, played a ton of great shows. It did change after Brent, even though Bruce could coax a good show out of Jerry from time to time. Man, some great memories...

Across the LAZY RIVER! Wow Jerry and the boys are on it! I old enough to remember how special these days were when I was younger.
Great show.
What the hell are you talkin' 'bout, '30 years'?! It hasn't been....oh. Wait. Shit...

One of the best concerts I've seen with the wall of sound at the Hollywood Bowl 74 what an afternoon
drove across the state from the Hudson Valley to catch this show with a deadline to be at work by 10:00a.m. the following day.
Classic!
Gimme some Loving 🥰 Brent & Phil give me life on this one. Everyone on stage giving so strongly.
I never ever get tired of seeing this concert it is the very best❤❤❤
That was quite a show! Thanks for the great evening tonight.
Brent seems so happy here. So sad, what a talent.
