I wish they’d take a chance and come out with a Star Wars LCG in the vein of Arkham Horror.
Just imagine playing through some storyline as a Rebel, you pass whatever checkpoint you need to and the story card says flip it over and it’s Darth Vader on the other side and now you gotta fight or escape from him and you’re so screwed lol I dream of that game, but I hear making games where you can’t play as the Imperials is a no go. Such a shame. That could be a great game.
There’s a fantastic fan made SW campaign for AH out there (I think I found it at BGG)
I remember watching an interview that said when FFG did the LCG previously, it was AH-styledabd people freaked because they wanted a competitive game.
I would much rather a solo/co-op than what we’ve gotten.
I would love this too! But as another reply said, they tried this once back when the LOTR LCG was brand new, and people didn't want it because it wouldn't allow you to play as the Empire, and so we got the SW competitive LCG.
I still have hopes for this. This would be my favorite game ever. And you could also have different campaigns for rebels and empire and cards for both sides. But it would be very important that they keep the campaign structure and story as it is in Arkham Horror LCG. This is way more immersive to me than the Marvel LCG.
@@antonj.2408 Agreed!
Imperial Assault boxes in the background rubbing salt into my wounds.
Imperial Assault is discontinued?
@@foyoGames pretty much. They announced in 2019 that "we consider it a completed game and it will be getting no new content" and 2020 worlds (which I still have my invite to) was to be the swansong organised play event.
@@jasongemmell5387 friggin pandemic
@@foyoGames had nothing to do with the pandemic.
@@GretSeat ah, can't blame everything on the pandemic
Love hearing Caleb discuss where card designs came from like jawa scavenger and lobot. Thanks for sharing!
Wish they do more Imperial Assault look at it in the back round.
I love that game, playing it solo 2 times a day thanks to the "Leaders" mode. Bought it because I could play solo. Can't wait to play 2 players though. Thanks a lot for that fantastic experience! The systems are so so good
This was a great play through to watch, can't wait to get hold of this now! Caleb just seems like the bloke you would most like to play a game with, he always seems so friendly, knowledgable and just an all round cool guy! I bet you guys had a whizz 👍
Wasn't really interested in this... until I read the design article posted this week and watched this video.
I'm totally psyched that it can play 4 player!!
Hopefully an expansion could add:
1) cards that can be used to assist your teammate (apparently xenoshyft does this very well)
2) 3 player mode
Pre-ordered!
Having the thought process of Caleb is an incredible opportunity for us! I'm working on a video game (deck building),
it's so interesting, Thank you!!
Love Star Wars IP, and enjoy deck building and this looks like great fun. In a perfect world this would be solo playable but perhaps that’s better saved for a true Star Wars LCG.
I am always interested in something by Caleb Grace, he respects the lore of an IP and I love how available he is to the community including lotr lcg. You want his projects to do well.
I like the simplicity and small box. Games that play relatively quickly, can be carried around, and easy to teach and get up hit the table, it is why I love radlands. Love that this isnt lcg, already have too many of those owned.
Yes, very refreshing!
This is one that I definitely wanted to see play throughs and reviews before playing. From what I’m seeing, it looks better than I expected!
Oh nice! I love Deck building games and star wars!!
Actually looks like a fresh take on deck builders and has decent choices each turn. Take my money already!
STAR WARS DESTINY NEEDS TO COME BACK! It was awesome!
What could be cool in this game is putting a little chaos in it with event cards in the galaxy deck that could appear when you have to place new cards. It would be more dramatic, like in the movies and series, but less strategic.
Looks like an amazing game! Can’t wait to get this one in my hands! ❤
Take my money! Base game, expansions, I'm here for it all!
After I put sleeves on the cards, they still perfectly fit back into the box. I love that! Is this a deliberate design choice?
Looks great and I trust anything designed by Caleb!
Give us Star Wars LCG Finally!!!
Game is really easy to pick up (1h10 for my 5 first solo) I can play it on my pause when working from home. Great job!!!
LOVE THIS GAME! Would love a droid/separatist expansion with Maul/Dooku/etc
Love how a lot of people are saying “oh so it’s Star Realms”.
Why am I not surprised. Most of what has come out of FFG over last 3 or 4 yrs is nothing but re-hash, reimplement, 2nd, 3rd Ed’s, re-theming another game and just changing up few mechanics.
Honestly gave up on this company years ago because all the real talent that made fresh, new games left once Asmodee took over.
Only thing I’d say at the moment that’s positive. It’s not another LCG where your spending a fortune on a ridiculous amount of expansion packs that never seem to end.
It does seem a lot like Star Realms but it has some interesting differences. I like the use of bases being your life points and having special abilities. A bit like the provinces in Legends of the Five Rings
I am so excited for a prequel or clone wars version of this game. I love it!
Absolutely love the game.
This is a deckbuilder rather then a CCG correct?
Yeah
So pumped for this. My copy and sleeves are pre-ordered.
So Star Realms with a SW reskin? I mean ok I guess. Just wish FFG would put out Age of War with a L5R reskin. I guess this is the next logical step for FFG to make use of the IP"s they have, if they aren't going to make any new unique games with them
Looks like it, but there's a few new mechanics to spice it up a bit: the Force track, and the ability to use your attack to bounty hunt/sabotage enemy cards in the Galaxy row where you buy cards.
@@SaniFakhouri
Attacking cards in the market row was done previously in the power rangers DBG, but it looks like it might be more impactful here.
Is there going to be clone wars cards as if not the temple guard card doesn’t make a lot of sense to me to add in
So it's Star (Wars) Realms, I see. Interesting.
Looks interesting, but shouldn't the Empire be red -- the color of aggression and evil?
Merci pour la vidéo 👍🏼
Love the game...but why did you guys show the Force Track with the Rebel side at the bottom where the Empire player is sitting?
Man this is amazing!
If it had solo I would pick it up. But because my group have so many campaign games to play we could never play it.
I'm excited for this one. I have mine pre-ordered already. 😁
Looks great, guess there will be expansions also?
Very excited for this. I love the Force Track
It's nothing earth-shattering, but you don't really need to be for something like this. There are some fun ways they can go from here.
Hi Folks ,wonderful game and love the interview play thru ,Im getting a bit long in the tooth these days at 66 so just asking for a wee bit of help on the imperial carriers .what Is the official line by Caleb on the +1 fighter add if a carrier is present ie if 2 carriers are in play does the adjustment on attack value for fighters become +2 cumulative ,makes quite a difference ofc ,but nothing in the Rules !...cheers and happy new year
I wish another company would get the star wars license and continue on destiny instead of the fan continuation group. So bummed it was cancelled. Was awesome game!
I wish for the same thing.
The system is owned by ffg rather than Disney so that couldn’t happen. If you look at what happened with netrunner there’s still hope for you
There is no armor pen to the second base after the first. You only do dmg to one unique base per turn even if i explodes
Hey @Fantasyflightgames as a sequall to this game, how about a mix of A Handful of stars (that you own) @ Star wars the deckbuilding game. Match made in heaven?
I think so.
Or a mix of this game & Tyranta of the underdark
it seems as though the force track favors the rebels way more than the empire, it should be a tug of war mechanism
Hi guys! How many and what size sleeves do I need for the game? Thank you for an answer!
Recommendation is 3 packs of the Gray sleeves from Gamegenic.
30 mins in and it looks fun, a nice take on star realms, does the game have similar achtype mechanics like that game does? (ie red scrap decks, yellow draw, blue lifegain etc etc)
Well, there are only two factions and the neutrals. It is mentioned that the rebellion uses more sabotage and guerilla tactics as we see in the discard effect used
Looks fun and accessible. Wondering if a co-op expansion is in the hopper (a la DC Deck Building Crisis expansions).
Gibt es dafür eine passende Spielmatte? Vielen Dank für eine Antwort!
Not that I didn’t appreciate this playthrough, but I really missed the unique way y’all did the LCG. How it was computerized and easier to see things.
How many capital ships in play at a time?
So basically it's Star Realms with Star Wars skin?
Amazing deck builder. I understand the resources. I just feel it's unneeded and a waste for an extra step. For those that it may be hard for to keep track of there numbers (buying power), yea.
I don't see anywhere how to play 4 player. they mention it here but not all the rules. Am I missing it somewhere?
Seems like legendary encounters, but players fighting over the barracks. My group is going to go nuts for this.
It's actually a lot more similar to the power rangers deck building game or star realms. Don't really see any similarities to legendary encounters.
@@SeanUCF the outer rim pilot deck is the sergeant deck, the galaxy row is the barracks and the bases represent player health. The transport ships in initial deck are specialists and the troopers are grunts. Same kind of managing economy vs attack power/synergy in your deck. Haven't played Star Realms but sounds neat.
@@deadfalltropics6422
What you described is basically the core of every single deck builder. They all start off with essentially two types of resources (usually one for buying and one for attacking) and there is usually a common deck which is there if you don't like anything in the market (galaxy row). And most deck builders at this point have some sort of hit points for the player. What makes legendary encounters stand out is the creeping enemies as they move along the track and are unknown until you scan them which isn't present in this game. Also LE is a co-op game and Star Wars is a dueling game.
Star Realms is a pretty good game, but can be a bit generic. Essentially you are dueling like you do in this game and buy from a shared market row. The goal is to build a powerful deck to continually attack your opponent with it (while trying to heal and defend yourself) until they have zero hit points. What this game borrows from Power Rangers DBG is the ability to attack cards in the market row which have various effects.
Its too bad the top down looking camera was on a mirror image mode. All the card text is backwards. Otherwise looks like a fun game. I play Star Realms and enjoy it, but it doesn't have the thematic involvement that some one who grew up with Star Wars gets from good Star Wars games, (like Destiny)
Some cards have the skill steal but dont specify from where and what happens with that card
I wonder: why does this game use resource cubes if you lose your collected resources at the end of the turn anyway? Is it just for a memory/counting aid? If yes then I wish more deckbuilding games had them.
I assume so? This mechanic is VERY similar to the way Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle works, even down to the 7/10 distribution of resource cards in your initial deck, and in that game the tokens just help you keep track once synergies start getting a little wild.
@@conors7914 Yeah, but I feel they are needed in Hogwarts Battle because you would often give resources to other players
I've played it a couple times now, and yes, they don't really have a purpose. People can keep track of their resources in deckbuilders as they always have. Not sure why they included them
Can you have multiple ships protect your base?
this is just confirmation of the death of imperial assault :(
That Force Track is just like the light/dark track from Legendary Buffy.
Jooooosh!
Can you sabotage/bounty hunt an enemy factions capital ship while they are on galaxy row?
Let’s go
I had zero interest in this when I first heard of it. Now I have all interest! Very cool concepts. Can you play more than two players though?
Can play 2v2 but requires 2 copies of the game
Star (Realms) Wars
Is this warhammer Conquest but with star wars skin ????
So he mentions the multi player rules but they are not posted anywhere. Please correct this!
Multiplayer rules will be released in early April.
Why the rebels start with 3 points of Force?
Because the empire player gets to go first. And I guess thematically, the Force is with the Rebels.
Looks cool. But still waiting for the Destiny LCG reboot!!!
I’m still waiting for the CCG reboot.
why did you choose to use text like "exile this card" over an simple icon?
why can Lobot give force? he does not look like a jedi to me. hes a human with cyborg implants it seems.
arent the cards punching too hard too fast? i compare it to star realms, where these high numbers arent getting on the table this fast.
thx for the showcase. looking forward for this new game. cheers
Small changes from other games that have been on the market for years. Only really appealing aspect is if you want a star wars themed version of this kind of deckbuilding game. Underwhelmed if this is considered their big release of the year
A classic deck building. It has some interesting ideas (like attacking cards from the market), but not enough to stand out from the deck buildings I already have. I was expecting something more revolutionary honestly.
It looks fun, obivously a lot like Star Realms but look who's talking ;) I wish the economy would have been approached differently. Some expensive cards seem very powerful and if one player gets to them early via a lucky draw while the other doesn't, things will snowball quickly
I think that's why the mechanism exists that lets you destroy those cards and gain rewards, preventing your opponent from obtaining them. Edit: except capital ships...not sure why you can't get rid of those in the row.
Im still hoping for a cool star wars theme fully coop game, imperial assault was awesome, but its dead now
Played it a couple times this evening with a friend. Fun game overall, though heavily inspired by Star Realms. Two things felt unbalanced to me. 1) There's no limit to how many capital ships you can have. I feel like whoever has more of them wins the game because you can just keep stockpiling them and they provide bonuses. 2) You can't sabotage/bounty hunt the capital ships in the galaxy row. This is what causes the first issue to become so problematic. Lastly, I saw very few, if any, trash/removal cards. I saw a few one-time effects, but it's not worth spending your fight on those rewards when your opponent is advancing their board with the capital ships.
Rebel color should be blue and imperials should be red… match the iconic lightsabers
Why are the base points not the same between the sides? One has more 14 point cards and the other has more 16 point cards. Seems a little unbalanced.
Those 14-point cards have better effects. In my playthrough, I think I recall a 14 one letting you just grab any card from the galaxy row for free and add it to your hand. One of the 16-point ones said something like deal 2 damage each time you make your opponent discard. Either way, the capital ships in this game are broken. Whoever has the most wins.
Sooo, I bought 2 copies of this game, in hopes of playing 2v2 with my family, but can't find the rules.
Just scrap this game and become ARH's biggest patreon! PS: ARH is the continuing committee to that wonderful game (Destiny) I still play on a weekly basis. Has 6 new sets already and the meta has never been more fun! 🎉
Am I the only one bothered that the Rebels are red and Empire is blue? Literally their lightsabers are the opposite color from that. Plus, red is always associated with bad guys and blue with good guys :)
Rebel symbol is always red and empire symbol is blue.
If you don’t know the Star Wars IP, then yes you would be bothered. Red has always been rebels and blue as imperials…..
Looks like star realms and ascension had a baby.
I wish it was a live trading card game. 😞
They already had one and failed or don't u.remember SW destiny?
Sounds to me people out there suffers from amnesia...destiny was wrecked by FFg and was a successful trading card game
@@user-ro1cs5hp5e Destiny was amazing and should have never been canceled in the first place.
Why are you teasing us by having Imperial Assault in the background? Makes me sad.
Where is the R2D2?
You can't even pre-order on asmode's trashy page. Their credit card module window just spins forever. Tried several browsers on several devices... big surprise...
It’s available for pre-order and discounted on miniature market by the way 👌🏽
Left his card on the camera
Feels like FFG pushes a new game, sells a lot then its gone and the next new hype is there. A friend spent a lot into Keyforge and the Star Wars game with the dice. I did the LCG. I am going to pass on this.
At least with this one it’s standalone. It doesn’t need any expansions or regular releases of follow-on sets.
This looks great! Any thoughts about future expansions?
Also, please go ahead and re-print the Decipher Star Wars CCG (or something just like it) already!
Just give us a star Wars game based on Arkham horror. That is what we want
so this is Star Realms but in star wars and instead of 4 factions its 3 gotcha. looks interesting
Hoth
I don’t understand why you wouldn’t reskin Conquest instead. It fits the IP so much better. This game is nothing exciting.
I was thinking the same thing.
well, I was going to pass on this and give my wallet a reprieve. but now I need to buy 2 copies.
Not a fan of the upside down text on the cards.
Josh roxx.
Little insulting having the imperial assault in the background.
Does that just hint at you abandoning this game as well?
Game even better 2 handed solo. Could have the galaxy row cards all facing one direction.
FFG has fallen so much. But this looks neat.
if is this was an APP I would get it immediately
just bring star wars destiny back the community is still keeping the game thriving
Its sad how they killed star wars destiny and used all data to build another not so competitive random star wars card game
I loved Destiny
I loved destiny so much!
Destiny might be the most fun I've had playing a tcg
Right... a deckbuilder with a single faction split deck just seems like a hot mess.
