Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is the formation of a blood clot in a deep vein, most commonly in the legs or pelvis.[8][a] Symptoms can include pain, swelling, redness, and enlarged veins in the affected area, but some DVTs have no symptoms.[1] The most common life-threatening concern with DVT is the potential for a clot (or multiple clots) to detach from the veins (embolize), travel through the right side of the heart, and become stuck in arteries that supply blood to the lungs. This is called pulmonary embolism (PE). Both DVT and PE are considered as part of the same overall disease process, which is called venous thromboembolism (VTE). VTE can occur as DVT only, as PE with DVT, or PE without DVT.[3] The most frequent long-term complication is post-thrombotic syndrome, which can cause pain, swelling, a sensation of heaviness, itching, and in severe cases, ulcers.[5] Also, recurrent VTE occurs in about 30% of those in the ten years following an initial VTE.[3]
The mechanism of clot formation typically involves some combination of decreased blood flow rate, increased tendency to clot, and injury to the blood vessel wall.[9] Risk factors include recent surgery, older age, active cancer, obesity, personal history and family history of VTE, trauma, injuries, lack of movement, hormonal birth control, pregnancy and the period following birth, and antiphospholipid syndrome. VTE has a strong genetic component, accounting for approximately 50 to 60% of the variability in VTE rates.[4] Genetic factors include non-O blood type, deficiencies of antithrombin, protein C, and protein S and the mutations of factor V Leiden and prothrombin G20210A. In total, dozens of genetic risk factors have been identified.[4][10]

I recently got a gravol shot but I noticed all the veins in that particular arm that I took the shot turned reddish purple for a few minutes, does that have anything to do with clotting?

I am currently managing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in my right thigh, extending down to my foot and ankle, resulting from a fall and a labrum tear in my right hip.
I received the covid vaccine four days ago today had severe pain in my right leg almost unbearable to walk went in had a ultrasound they have found small clots now I'm on bed rest and was told to elevate leg and wait for four days. I believe it's from the vaccination I am scared and wondering if Anyone else has had reaction like I have. Of course the doctor doesn't want to say it's from the vacine I was completely healthy now in bed
I had the vaccine 13 days ago woke up to a red raised sort of bumpy bruise on my right lag. I'm currently on Coumadin now treatment for prior stroke.

Getting pain in the arm so you guys got the shot in is not dvt. And only Johnson & Johnson was linked to having blood clots. Also if you've ever had covid before that can cause DVT. But it's not normal pain and you definitely get swelling in your leg and feet
I'm having this in right leg I've taking prescribed drugs for 5 days still i have a breathing problem and every time I breath my shoulder and muscles in chest hurts. Is it common since I'm taking medicines for not a very time or is it a problem to even have those symptoms while taking medications ? Anyone pls help

@@Jimmymon it causes blood clots in other parts of the body too not just in the brain. My aunt’s mother in law got clots around her heart with the first shot. With the second shot her mother in law got blood clots in her legs and had a heart attack. She is still in the hospital. I do not know if she will get the third shot they are saying will be needed in the fall or not.

I may have this on one lower leg but I am too scared to go to an emergency room because of possible covid exposure in a hospital ....swelling goes down when I sleep to near normal ... do you think I can put this off for a few months ,I'm retired

Go to urgent care or primary bc they can send you to imaging for ultra sound I just went n it was empty. Better place during covid.
