Thanks for this helpful tip. A couple of questions.. A - does it leave any residue on your finished macrame work? B - how long does the solution last for ( does it go of )? Please and thank you
If you get your ratio right (not too much cornstarch) then it shouldn't leave a white residue It does go off so it's best to only make as much as you need. It lasted a few days for me.
Hi! I have questions, If I use a colored macrame cord, will this spray make it turn white when sprayed? Also, if I wash the stiffened macrame, will it loose its stiffness? If so, do I just spray it again? How long does the stiffness last? I'm sorry if my questions are a bit absurd, but I haven't tried it yet so I want to know before I use it on my projects. Thank you
Hello, it might leave a bit of white residue on the coloured cord. I've only tried it on white. You could use less cornstarch to try reduce any white residue. It will stay stiff forever, but if you wash it then it won't be stiff anymore. As you mentioned, you would need to respray it again. If the cornstarch isn't suitable for colored cord, you could try hairspray or purchase a fabric stiffening spray.
Ive just started making macrame feather for a wall hanging decor for my home. Do the feathers still feel soft and no shiny surface, i want them to look like the natural cord without the sheen. 🌷
Дякую за корисну пораду! Маю питання - чи не жовтіють нитки з часом від крохмалю? Я раніше робила тільки з картопляним, і помітила, що через певний час білий починає жовтіти ( Спробую ще з кукурудзяним крохмалем
I spray it on when the mixture is cold. It lasts a couple days but then the wet cornstarch mixture starts to smell if it's left at room temperature for too long (keeping it in the fridge might make it last longer, but give it a shake before use). I tend to make smaller batches so I can use it fresh.
Thanks for the instructions. Do you spray it on wet or dry fabric? I want to stiffen a canvas tote bag that I just washed. Do I wait to completely dry or can I just go on and spray on it?
Do u think this would leave a white cast to colored cords? I'm going to give it a try on a small piece of cord to find out. Thanks for this video! I was just thinking about using hairspray for a flower I'm in the process of making but I think I'll try this 1st 💓🌈🙏🏼
It might leave some white residue. You could try filter the liquid through a sieve to get rid of any clumps before you spray it on; and not spray the coloured cords too heavily. Otherwise, hairspray works well as an alternative.
God bless you for sharing! I used to spend a lot of money on 150 ml of spray😢. Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks Madam for sharing excellent tips for spraying macramé ornaments. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR CAREER
Thank you so much! Tried this and it worked wonderfully for macrame fringe, even on colourful cords
That's great to hear! Thanks for letting me know 😄
Please tell me , if you wash the stiffened macrame , will the effect of cornstarch go away?
I think so

Does spray work for a while after or only while hot? Do you have to make fresh batch per use?

I haven't tried spraying it on wet fabric. I would suggest spraying it on dry fabric - the cornstarch only hardens once it dries

After putting the mixture in the spray bottle shake it to get rid of the lumps.
For white it suits but for different colour they become whitish when turns dry
Start stirring immediately and no clumps
Can I use rice starch or pasta water for this instead of cornstarch?
Good question
You can avoid the clumps altogether by stirring from the beginning while it's heating up. ☺️
how long does the spray last in the bottle and does it spoil
It does spoil (not sure how long it lasts) so best to make only as much as you need
